Waffle Square

Watch me get so fixated on a subject or project that I obsess over it (getting stuck in a waffle square). Instead of my mind being capable of multitasking like a bowl of noodles, I get stuck in an individual waffle square.

What size tires are those?
I’m sorry I have no idea. We sold it a year ago when the girls outgrew it.
Love your channel, I have a 2006 lr3 bought it last year with bad transmission. Replaced solenoids and seals back to work fine. Gear shiter shows only park neutral and D any suggestions, hope not tcm or trans plug
No suggestions but thank you for the kind words.
wonderful -
Thank you.
Auwsome video
Thank you so much!
Master switch with pressing the two buttons for 3 seconds did the trick for my LR3 to rest and open the rear trunk!! 😊😊 thank you 😊
Excellent!!
Great video. Just bought a 2006 lr3 hse v8 with 166k clean title great condition from a neighbor for 2250$. Everything working so far. I guess it was a steal! New subscriber here!
Awesome!!!
Why did both sides of the front of the vehicle drop when only one shock leaked and the fuses were out to keep the LR from self leveling?
That front and rear valve blocks have an open channel between the struts to distribute air equally so, if one strut leaks, both sides will drop.
@ do you think the valve block needed to be replaced or was it the leaking shock absorber bladder all along?
In our case, the main valve block by the compressor was leaking so, in episode four, I replaced the o-rings in all three .
@@wafflesquare if you still have the rover, did your repairs hold out and keep working? I hear mix d reviews on the valve block repair vs full replacement
Yes we still have the Land Rover. I currently drive it often (until Aspen gets her license) and the air suspension is operating properly. I have not performed an overnight leak test recently but there are no obvious issues.
awesome! thanks for detailing this
You are very welcome.
Good video I'm about to work on one of those my saw is going to be a sawzall cut that exhaust off and weld back on later not dealing with that crap in the way
I have an 05 lr3 v6 and can’t access my heater core pipes that easy… Any tips??? Thx
Maybe try tapping in to the heater hoses towards the middle or front of the engine rather than the firewall.
Good idea I’ll try that
I hope it works for you.
I have the exact same LR3 as shown in the video. The transmission does strange things only when it is cold. After warming up, over a half hour of driving, it works fine. Sometimes I get the “Transmission Fault - Traction Reduced” but not always, and not in the same day after it was warm. And the same problems are not consistent, never know what it will do. I am wondering about a computer diagnostic, or reprogram or replacement. I did not see the video of the transmission rebuild, but I do see control modules for the transmission and the transfer case for sale. Also about a service, filter and fluid change, on this thing. Otherwise there are no problems with this Rover.
Not sure what you are asking but this transmission service (along with the adaptation relearn procedure) solved our issues: Land Rover LR3 Complete Transmission Service 6HP26 - Ep. 3 ua-cam.com/video/awZzcE-LwRc/v-deo.html
Very very good explanation thanks
You are very welcome.
Super helpful, well filmed & explained, thanks very much. I intend to tackle with my TDV6 transmission tomorrow. Doing it all but the solenoid part.
Thank you for your kind words!
Awesome job I'm dealing with the same thing right now with my Land Rover 3 V8
Thank you so much!
Hey Mike. Great video but I had an issue I was hoping you may be able to help with. I double checked my wiring connections and everything seems to be correct. I hooked everything up in the car in the order of the video, however, as soon as I plugged the power plug into the back of the alpine smoke started coming out the back of the unit. Any idea what the reason for that might be? Thanks in advance for your help. Dave
It can only be a defective head or mistake in the wiring. Therefore, I would exchange the head for a new one and double check the wiring.
@@wafflesquare Thanks for your reply Mike. When you say ‘head’ do you mean the Scosche adapter kit?
or the alpine unit itself?
I meant the Alpine stereo that was smoking.
OK thats what I thought. Replacement on the way. I checked all the wiring connections and all look good. The unit started smoking when I connected the power connector to it before starting the vehicle. I confirmed today that the only port on the connector that has power to it before starting the car is the yellow wire one, so that seems to indicate it was a problem with the Alpine I would think.
@wafflesquare I miss your videos, but I know you have a life.
Try Viidure for the dashcam
Hi Mike Would you be able to do a lrd3 air calibration video with this device So as to compare to the gap11 toll and obvioudly give us your thoughts on the calibration with the launch elite Regards john
Yes I can.
Thanks mike cant wait to see the video The gap tool is vert expendive innaustralia as else where If this can do suspension calibration like gap tool happy days Thanks john
Brilliant video, very well explained 👏👏👏 Niall over here in cold Ireland ☘️☘️
Thank you, Niall!!! I’m so glad it was helpful.
Luv this CarPlay but retrieving the footage of the cam is impossible n to complicated. So I won’t buying it. Dam!!! I thought I had a winner
Yo!!! 13/16” hole lmao🤣 u meant 3/16” hole cus 13-16” is almost a inch”. But I know what u meant. Can u imagine a hole that big 😮lol. Great video. I was going to buy the 901 pro but now I’ll buy this on
If you closely at the key, you will see a pin that holds the key blade to the fob. You can knock the pin out on both keys and swap blades
Awesome video, I’m looking for a unit so this could be perfect. One question, have you noticed any problems with apple car play? My sister has an aftermarket unit for her Freelander and has some minor problems from time to time
I wish you didn’t have to use the USB charging cable for CarPlay to work. I just listen to music or podcasts via Bluetooth when I drive the car and that works flawlessly.
I really like the way you ran the wire so stealth. Also great tip with using the USB port and right angle connection.
Josh, thank you so much!!
Can you make another video for 2012 range rover Evoque transmission solenoid replacement?
Nope. I don’t have access to a Range Rover.
Good information, but give a thumbs 👎🏽 down because you pushed to much publicity into it!!!! Feels greedy
Publicity?
Perfectly detailed video! Good job! Do you happen to know where I can find something that shows me the correct throttlebody position? I took it out to clean it and take a peek and must’ve put it in backwards or something?? There is a channel it has to go through to seat completely but… Not sure it’s even a thing to put it in backwards? …but now the throttle does nothing. 😬
Did you check the service manual I linked in the video description?
@ yeah I looked through the PDF, but it really doesn’t tell you about the orientation of the actual cylinder itself. It seems it has guides on both sides, but the bottom is different. I even put a scope down to look inside and nothing really defining. This is what I always do… Take something apart that wasn’t even a problem and fųck up the whole thing! It was just sitting for a long time… Siphoned the turpentine… And still runs like an old lawnmower, even backfires which my kid seemed to really like as they took a video of a couple flames coming out the pipe! 😂😂 So now, instead of doing the things I should be doing… Like pulling the spark plug and fuel filter… I’m dealing with this bullshit. I appreciate you even responding! Most people don’t, and I am pretty diligent at answering my UA-cam comments as well. 👍👍
I have the exact same vehicle and this was a great help. I'm not sure if I have another issue or not. At 60 mph the rpms are just under 4000 rpms, is this normal or is there another issue? I could use some advice please.
That seems high if you are not accelerating.
@wafflesquare could it be because the TCM needs cleared or reset?
Which video did you have the specific Land Rover computer to do that and where can I order it from?
Episode 6 might be helpful… Land Rover LR3 Transmission Adaptation Relearn Procedure - Ep. 6 ua-cam.com/video/1oLXZvyPUzU/v-deo.html
Haven't seen you in a while. LR3 all done? Good daily driver for your daughter?
Great question. The reason for the lack of videos is we moved to Utah over the summer. Our new house and backyard has taken precedence. Here is my home improvement channel where I have been posting our progress: youtube.com/@houseonthemend?si=WmeJ2NjYiLGB6Z5P There is still plenty to do with Aspen’s Land Rover but we did surprise her with a new paint job. She will be eligible for her learner’s permit next year (2025).
Wow, awesome video. I'm planning on buying an LR3 soon and I will surely be following your guide here to install a new head unit.
It has been a transformational improvement to be sure.
Great helpful videos in the whole series!
Thank you, Andrew. I’m very glad it was helpful.
I have the same tool for BMW and it works okay. I ended up getting Bimmercode instead. The interface of the LaunchElite is just such a pain to use. I'll probably get the $35 download for LR3 and see how that goes. If it is infrequent use it should suffice.
👍
Thank you, Daniel.
Does the mount allow you move the unit down so that the bottom edge is flush with the dash? Also can you set the nav voice playing via the car speakers
That is as low as it goes
@@wafflesquare Thanks for the feedback

I’m so glad!!!
22:35 great video. I just ordered my kit to service the blocks. Regarding the broken o-ring on the line. Does the kit come with a new o-ring or did you have to source your own?
All o-rings needed came in the kit.
When you run through the gears is the fill plug still open? And as you try to add more is the engine still running?
Yes & yes
Very helpful! Many thanks for sharing 👍.
You are very welcome!!
I'm a Land Rover LR3 owner in Qatar and I've been watching your videos and they're absolutely great. From air suspension to aftermarket radio (alpine) installation, that's awesome. Your videos have given me pretty good ideas, where to look when I notice any troubleshooting in my car. Great work Sir.
Thank you so much!!
Hey Mike, how has that water pump been working for you? I installed mine, same exact as yours, a couple months ago and can observe a slight wobble at the pulley attached to it and also at the crankshaft pulley. I replaced the primary/main tensioner maybe a month ago due to bad bearings and that fixed the wobbles but when I replaced the alternator a week ago, the wobble has returned. Any ideas? It's almost like the new alternator put things out of balance somehow.
No issues at all.
Slick trick with that breaker bar, thanks Mike! Been putting off doing this for a long time, but finally got it done. New tube and bridge seals, rebuilt the mechatronix with a Sonnax Zip kit, new solenoids, new seperator plate, new filter, pan, and a Lubelocker gasket from Summit Racing. This is not a job for the faint of heart. Once you start, there is no stopping - you have to push through. Hardest part for me was getting the ridiculous heat shield bracket off. I now know why yours only had 3 bolts holding it in place. The two back bolts are obstructed by the shift cable on one side and the front propshaft on the other. It will only come off if spoken to in French..😂 I ended up cutting slots into the back holes of the bracket so I only have to loosen the back bolts and slide the frame backwards to get it off the next time I have to do a filter replacement. Thanks again! Hope Aspens Landy is going strong!
You are very welcome.
Thanks for sharing….i was able to successfully program a new key. I was worried about screwing up the process and not being able to start the car. For those doing this, just remember to start by reprogramming the original key first and then reprogramming the new key.
You are very welcome! I’m so glad it was helpful.
Great job...
Thank you, John!
I prefer radios with real knobs over a flat screen that takes your eyes off the road. I can change channels without looking using knobs but not with a flat screen = dangerous and not needed.
That’s why I like the steering wheel controls.
@@wafflesquare I have those too, but Im old so I still prefer knobs on the radios over steering wheel. I have both and don't use the steering wheel as much.
I'm with you but having installed a free standing 9 inch carplay unit in my L320, it's very easy to use because it's just like a smart phone OEM units fitted to new cars with a central wheel or joystick, and multiple menus, are ridiculous, and therefore dangerous. But the elephant in the room is positioning them in the centre of the dashboard, between the driver and passenger. That's the main distraction because it requires head movement to view the screen, not just nano-second glance with the eyes. That's why I went for a freestanding unit as opposed to upgrade the OEM infotainment.I never used the OEM satnav anyway as it's inferior to my TomTom mobile on my phone and I want everything in my eyeline.
@@michaelhoare5291 That sounds like a good idea using that 9" carplay. How does it mount? Where is the screen in relation to the dash speedo? Love the iconic look of the L320 over the L494.
@Physics072 3 fixing options: 1. Cover the existing screen although the 7 inch is the neater choice for that. Trouble is it's then angled up to the roof, not towards the driver, and no access to the OEM screen which will be permanently on when driving (screen burn) 2. Dash adapter which I suggest is dodgy because the unit will substantially interfere with the view of the road; 3. I fixed the windscreen suction adapter to the flat radio surround surface in front of the OEM screen which is perfect because the unit can be adjusted to face the driver and it doesn't interfere with the view of the road. Also, on start up I can reach behind and turn the OEM screen off.
Thank you! It's been an issue for me too!
You’re welcome. I’m so glad it was helpful!
My “Assistive touch” doesn’t turn off even when I toggle it to off, it still beeps when I pick things? Any ideas?
I’ve never had that issue so maybe try a factory reset.
@ thanks for the speedy reply and awesome video! I tried that and it still sounds off whenever I touch on any icon. I really find it weird being that everything else is working flawlessly? I can certainly live with it, but would still like to have a say in that arena.
I figured it out. There are 2 areas for the touch beeps. Assistive touch and the tip sound which is where I needed to toggle off for no more touch sounds.
Excellent!
@ My W903 front camera makes images (like cars in the parking lot) look much wider and distorted than they should be. Is there any settings that can help fix this!
