It’s rare to come across people who are as detail-oriented as you. What a pleasure to see you working on your car! My wife says I’m OCD with cars. I thought I was the only one 😂😂😂! I have bought myself a pretty well-maintained Disco3 HSE with 200k km on the clock. But she still needs some TLC to be in perfect shape. I’m doing this project for my nice who is turning 18 next year. Still didn’t get to the interior though. Mine is the TDV6 version so there was a lot of preventive mechanical maintenance I wanted to do before tackling the cosmetics. You truly have to love this car. It’s still a nice pice of engineering considering it came out in 2005. Craftsmanship and high quality in every detail. You’re truly an inspiration so please keep it up! Loving your videos! 🏋🏻🏋🏻🏋🏻
@@wafflesquare Meant every word! ❤️❤️ I guess you’ve researched a lot about the LR3 by now. Some common problems to address are the front suspension lower arm bushings. It’s best to replace them with heavy duty ones from MEYLE. Better than OEM quality. I replaced the whole arms (upper and lower) and rods. Drives like new. Same goes for the brake discs and pads. I used BREMBO. They work like a charm and are not that expensive. I’m on your 4th video already. Can’t stop 😂
Upholsterers use “Cushion eze “ which is a slippery material designed to allow leather to slide easy over foam Wrapping foam in plastic and applying a vacuum also works - additionally using steam can soften the leather or vinyl for fitting then it will retighten when it cools - great work though - I don’t think people realize how long this job takes
Sorry to say this after you're done Mike, but you can steam the seat foam to bring it back to original shape. Maybe this could be useful to others doing their seats. Great content! Well done!
I bet that made a huge difference just being in and enjoying the vehicle. That is what they call “sweat equity” there. I’m going to go out right now and condition my leather before it splits apart! Great job!
What GREAT instructions! I can't help but wonder how you figured out how to pull each of the trim pieces off! Your video was VERY clear to follow and your narration was really, really helpful! This is my first time watching one of your videos but it won't be my last! Thank you so much. I'm thinking now I may be able to do my wife's LR3 seats!
First time watching your video and I have to admit, you are Godlike! A ton of useful information and precise explanations. Having some issues with seat heating on my LR3, your video cleared up all my doubts about fixing it. Thank you for your effort and keep up the good work.
nice job on the seat, i had a good friend that had a trim shop he used a small steam machine to iron leather out.. at first the hog rings look hard, good job!!
My carpets are soaked underneath the passenger-side and - after days of pulling up the carpet along the edge and blowing air with a fan, I determined it was time to remove the passenger seat and pull up the carpet. Thanks so much for the insightful video.
Yes, thank you. I just purchased one with 120K miles with an electrical issue that had been sitting vacant for 2 years. Also, I’m very surprised that you haven’t had that water issue yet, but perhaps it’s since you garage store and I imagine it’s pretty dry in Nevada. :)
i’ve been looking for a video like this for quite some time. Thank you for posting a very detailed how to on rescanning the LR3 seats. I’m Looking forward to seeing you do the rear seats. Also Samuel sounds like a pretty solid dude for hooking you up with those plastic pieces.
@@wafflesquare On the 2006 LR3 that just bought, it’s the three row version. The issue that I have with the driver side rear seat, is that the cable for the latch on top of the seat broke. I think that I’m going to repair it using a bicycle brake cable. Thanks again!
Great video which is so much easier to follow than the Haynes manual. I like your conclusions at the end. I wish I had watched the whole video, with your warning that this is a lot of work, before embarking on my leather change, as it is a full days work if you don’t have any snags. My snags included not having hog ring pliers - these are essential for reassembly, finding the seat base metal shell cracked around fasteners (£60 from LR), having difficulty removing arm rest - this needed a pry bar even when at 45 degrees and not allowing myself enough time - I’m currently halfway through having spent 6 hrs, but looking forward to finishing it this weekend- with luck.
For the arm rest, you first have to pull off the adjusting knob and then make a much smaller hole in the new leather. Then install the new leather on the arm rest, and finally push on the adjusting knob in the end. Kind regards.
Great show, just wondering if a plastic bag over the head rest (open at both ends) while slipping the new cover on then remove the plastic bag. Not a bag that would easily break.
Another great video. Better than my LR3 sear recover video. I also contacted LSeat about the rear seats but they don't have a template. I still have my old rear seat covers after finding hardly used rear seats from a salvage yard. I removed the old covers for templates before throwing away the old seats. Do you want them. They are Alpaca, tan.
yup a lot of work, one thing is these custom seat makers never seem to offer perforated, so your front will not match your rear. if you dont have hog rings, i find cable ties work just as well.
Great tip. Zip ties seem to get very brittle over time here in the desert. I wonder if they would hold up to the strain of constant sitting and alighting from a vehicle.
When fitting the covers (like the head rest) it can be very difficult (tight with a lot of friction) and difficult to position it properly. If you put a plastic bag or sheet on the foam first it makes fitting a lot easier (low friction). After fitting the cover pull out the plastic.
Good tip. Upholsteres will create a bag with plastic sheeting, connect a shop vac to one end, and suck in the foam to make fitting covers easier. Sheeting gets pulled out after the covers are on.
Another great instructional video. By the way… did I see the ashtray spring broken 🤭? A bit annoying but an easy fix. I think I still have the pics and instructions how I fixed mine. 😉 You have my email already in case you need.
These vids are really good. Not sure why the UA-cam gods have not given you wider distribution. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much. Sharing, liking, and view length all help the algorithm suggest it to more viewers.

Very much appreciated!!
Camera work and lighting is exceptional. To quickly discharge module capacitors join removed ground cable to positive battery terminal.
Great tip! Thank you, Gary.
This is awesome man. I just got an LR3 and these vids are a godsend. I'll probably do them all one by one haha. Cheers!
Liam thank you so much!!!

Thank you, Mark, for sharing!
Mate, you've got way more patience than me. If I ever need seat covers replaced they're going straight to the upholsterer. :) Excellent work.😁
It really is a lot of work and I still have to clean the carpet!!!

Frank I’m sure you can do it! Replacing the seat covers was a lot of work but definitely our favorite upgrade.
I really do appreciate you making these detailed videos. They are very helpful… Please keep up the good work…
Shawn thank you so much for your feedback! Sometimes I worry about being too wordy.
A great video. It has been a great help removing a front seat from my Range Rover Sport 320. Basically the same vehicle as the LR3.
I’m so glad it was helpful.
I am in the middle of pulling my seats out. This is a great video and really detailed.
I’m so glad it’s helpful!! Thank you for your feedback.
Hi Mike, another awesome video. Thank you very much for your time and patience making this video happen, well done😀

You are very welcome. The water is most likely coming from the sunroof drain line. There are many UA-cam videos about that issue.

You are absolutely right, Adrian. For all I know we are sitting on a ticking time bomb just waiting for a downpour.
😂😅
Thank you
Will be interested to see how the covers settle after some use
Yes we are curious as well.

You are very welcome, Michael.
You're welcome, keep the good content coming! The LR Disco 3s and 4s are great trucks. (Samuel)
Thanks! Will do, Samuel.
Detailed teaching.
Thank you very much.
Great work and great video skills too!
Thank you Roman! I’m definitely pushing the limits of my video editing software lately.

Will it be possible to install the two front seats in a Discovery series 2???
The link to LSEAT.com is in the description below the video.
Says the key fobs are on Canada and USA frequencies .
Will this work in th UK?
I don’t know
I was really hoping you were going to add ventilation. Did you look into it at all? There seem to be a lot of questionable kits.
No I didn’t.

Thank you Paul!!
I’m looking at doing diamond fabric covers on mine Iv doing black headliner with led stars can I add foam to the seats to look like bolster

Yes it is broken, André. Would love the pics and instructions if available.
Idk if I want to be that close to 5 previous owners’ butt sweat.😂💨
Very true. Now we have a brand new butt sweat barrier!

Thank you!!
lucky your daughter found the free make up, and not your wife.
