The barrel lights are most likely for the vanity mirror lights in the sunvisors.

    Interesting, but...
I recently bought a D4 (LR4) and have changed a lot of the lamps to LED. On the D4 the rear lights are already LED, but the reversing and rear fog lights are normal incandescant bulbs. I changed these to LED and they make an amazing difference - I'm surprised you did not change these as they are a great improvement and clearly show the road when you reverse, almost like headlights. For your turn lights you need a resistor on the D3 to make them work, the same as you have to do if you replace the D3 rear light cluster with the D4 version.
For the number plate lights and puddle lights on the doors i went for sealed LED units which just replace the original - these are much better than replacing just the bulb and the plastic lens does not get dirty from the inside. I did have the same problem as you as one of the puddle lights had no cable so it went to a Land Rover dealer who found the cable hidden inside and pulled it through to get the puddle light working (thank goodness I bought it "Land Rover Approved" with a guarantee). The puddle lights are really very bright and clearly show what you are stepping into (that no one noticed that the passenger puddle light never worked shows how dim and ineffective the original lamps were). In fact PowerfulUK even do an alternative puddle light that projects an image of a Discovery onto the road as you open the door.
The sealed units really prevent any dust and dirt getting behind the lens and may be much better for your dusty environment.
I got all my lights from PowerfulUK (excellent people!).
I will shortly also replace the front fog lights, but I will get the sealed LED replacements from PowerfulUK, rather than just replacing the bulb.
I'm not yet sure about replacing the internal bulbs for LED as they may bee too bright for practical use.
PowerfulUK do complete sets of LED lights for the D3 and D4.
I'm very happy and everything works perfectly.

Hi Mike, great video! I've just found your channel and I'm really enjoying the content. Your main beams are the 'fancy' spec HID ones (same on my D3) so standard H7 bulbs can't be used. The lower trim D3 models do use the standard bulbs. Also, the rear LED bulbs draw much less power and so the car thinks they're blown, hence the fast flash on the dash. You can get a resistor or ballast for the LED rear bulbs that makes the computer think everything is normal. Keep up the good work! Cheers, Steve (down under and just to the right, in New Zealand)

Recently did all of the interior lights as you did. Very happy with the result. Also did the high beams with Osram Nightbreaker H7 LED. Very big difference. The main beams are HID so not really an alternative for those but I replaced them with Osram Nightbreaker D2S and now much brighter. HID lights loose intensity over time so good to replace them when they get older.
Your indicator dash light is flashing quicker because of the lower resistance of the LED indicator light you put in. The same will happen if you were to swap the complete light unit for the newer LR4 unit (LED). You can solve it by wiring in a suitable resistor that can handle the load.
Would be interested if the OBD scan tool is as good as the GAP IID Tool.

@@wafflesquare Hello friend, I also have an LR3 and I wanted to update the lighting of my truck, I did succeed in braking lights but I was not convinced by the difference in brake light and navigation contrast was minimal, I returned an incandescent bulb, plus CANBUS bulbs are needed that the car's computer does not It identifies it, it fails, as happened to you with your turn signals, in the interior led bulb they must also be CANBUS, otherwise the scanner detects it, the upper or interior chassis bulb fails
Also my question is fog light and long distance light with light cut and dispersion functional
      Greetings from Mexico City

Does the light emitted by the new led spotlights in the fog lamp distinguish a line of light or spread everywhere?

yeah..i was scratching my head when you were saying high beam. the barrel bulbs i think are for the sunvisor mirror light. never seen these led bulbs works without throwing some sort of can bus error, but lets see.

Kas I’m secure enough in my manhood to leave my mistakes in these videos. I started by opening the large door on the back of the headlight housing assuming (correctly) that was the main lamp only to find the bulb didn’t fit. I doubted myself and pressed on with the installation.

Yep, canbus does not like led on flashers/ indicator circuits, not enough resistance . It needs a resistor in circuit for led. The single point lamp should be foglight rear. T10 flat blade for interior lights. Got the grill fixed! Nice!!!

Carefull with LED tail lamps in the LR3. ECU monitors the brake circuit. At best, your cruise control won't work. At worst, the car will give you 3 amigos, put suspension in access height, and refuse you all special offroad programs.
LED bulbs have very low resistance, so the car reads it as a bulb that has blown. Either get LED bulbs that have resistors built in (Stedi lights in Australia sells some) or splice resistors into the wiring (never a good option as they get very hot).
You will find the same problem when trying to tow a trailer with LED lights. Shane's Shed on UA-cam has a video where he built an LED converter box for towing with a Disco 3.
Also, for dusty, rainy or foggy conditions, nothing beats incandescent foglight bulbs. The yellow is the perfect temperature and will cut through all the scattered particles MUCH better than any LED on the market. LEDs do not emit yellow light, it is simply a film over the lens.
LED highbeams are also not ideal, as they cause much more reflection off roadsigns, which can blind you momentarily.
Don't mean to be a Debby downer here, just letting you know.

Great question. We have zero connection with Coachella. That is one of many stickers left on the vehicle from the previous owner. We are going to remove them and polish the oxidation off the paint in a future episode.
