No matter what I do, the skierg is the worst station for me...thank God it's the first one so I can quickly get rid of it. But I'm almost last in the wave after it...and by 20-30s at least lol.

During the sled pull, I notice some people completely drop the rope when they get to the back of the box (I believe Meg does it this way?) others keep the rope in their hands the whole time. Thoughts? Also, I’ve gone back and watched Fabi’s BBJ technique during the Amsterdam men’s pro doubles several times. I have played around with both styles for the pull. I have started to go with the dropping the rope. I think it helps me get in better positions and I can aggressively pull the rope at the end of the box if needed and then just drop it. As long as you are quick to get back to the front of the box then I actually prefer it.
The farmers tip is a game changer . Also help me to focus on not move the dumbells back and forth too much.
The sled pull advice is good but flawed. In regular competitions the lanes are so tight and you can’t kick the rope to the side without it going into the next persons lane and getting a penalty. Maybe in the pros you get the space to kick the rope, but not in the mass participation open and pro races

Yes! I was actually at the Chicago race for my first one this past weekend and wow was it hard haha wish I would have known, I totally would have tried to meet up! After running so many years competitively it took me a long time to find it enjoyable again, but have been loving the hybrid workout world!

Surely it matters how well trained you are in the specific movement too when it comes to what your heart rate zones are in those movements?
It could certainly effect the zones a bit in someone who is very deconditioned - but your pace and speed is more likely to change and your HR zones would remain constant. So say your Z2 HR run is 130 BPM and pace is 4:30/km at the beginning of a training block you may run 4:20/km at the end of the block but your Z2 HR would stay 130.

I played rugby in school. My position was loosehead prop. I connect my shoulders directly on the bars (like if training with a scrum machine) and I feel that it is more effective in moving heavier weights. I have a low grip on the poles in almost a row position, pulling up to keep my shoulders fixed to the bars. It really locks my upper body to the sled and the heavier I push the more stable I feel. But I have not seen anyone using this technique. Am I doing something wrong? What do you think of this technique? I’m not really very strong, just an average guy (a bit overweight, bfp at 24%, 1.8 metres, 95kg). I can barely squat 160kg. I’ve been training for about two years and with this technique I can now comfortably push 300kg for about 9 metres. My PB is 320kg. The sled becomes unstable if I try to stack it higher. I can’t even move the sled using the other techniques.

I understand the shoulders I.. but it gave me bruises... so it's hands with shoulders in for me. I'm pretty quick. Hyrox is à journey, maybe one day... 😊
I do basically everything you say, except I am rotated about 20 degrees to one side, with feet staggered and the forward foot correlating to a forward hand. This protects my once-injured lower back and allows me maximum push in the major driving leg. I see how this might be less total push, but I am one of the "heftier" athletes you describe so I have more push than the average Hyrox runner (and yes as you say that means my running ability is less)
If anyone seeing this video also has back issues, and thus can't do traditional deadlift, I highly recommend suitcase lifts and do the reps exactly as Rich states. Works for me anyways. Anything that makes your legs DRIVE into the ground.

By no means am I a coach or do I mean this comment in a negative way But maybe try and fix your form on the likes of the ski for example Lot of elbow flaring looking like your arms are doing most of the workout for you Not generating your power with the rest of your body making it more taxing on yourself But great effort 💪🏻

I love your form on the ski-erg. For some reason many top level athletes in Hyrox have terrible form. Apparently it still works for them, but I always wondered why they don’t sharpen that up. They would save energy. Anyways, love the video!
