So when you sign up for a Hyrox there are two division - “Pro” and “Open.” Everyone competes within their age group when they sign up for either “pro” or “open.” Everyone is an age group athlete in the results of a Hyrox - even the elites (outside of majors and WC). What exactly do you mean by age grouper?
I’m 54, did the Dallas Hyrox last spring. I finished at 1:45. Didn’t really specifically train for it. I did the men’s open or Masters , can’t remember. It was challenging, but was doable. You need to have a base of cardio and strength training. I’ve been doing Camp Gladiator, an outdoor boot camp for 6 years, so my conditioning was on par. But, if you’re looking to crush this event, I’d highly recommend training for this specifically and running a lot! Good luck
Congrats on getting it done! I do have a few prep programs. I have a 12-week and monthly group coaching. I’m doing my first one soon I CrossFit fit. Lift semi heavy. Can’t run to save my life due to arthritis in my toes and knees lunging is horrific BUT I’m doing it in Birmingham October 😂😣🤪
Hey Rich, I go to Orange theory 6 times per week and am super conditioned cardio wise. I’m usually top of my class in any studio that I visit. I strength train 5 days a week with a trainer as well. What weights should I be able to hit for strength to measure if I’m ready (I.E. dead lift, kettle bells, ect…)?

Love this break down! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for spending 1 second on us age groupers. We appreciate it.

I agree - you are in generally good shape you should be good to go - but running will help a ton.
Hi Rich, I did Chicago Hyrox Men’s PRO in 1:29:29… looking to see if you have a prep program!
