Hey! Happened to come about ur great video! How's the latency on the keyboard? Is it suitable for gaming?
Which configuration was your favorite?
i'm loving my cycle 7 so far, but how do you change the rgb led colour?
Timestamps: No foam: 0:01 Case foam: 0:05 Case & Plate foams: 0:08 Case and PE Foam: 0:11 Plate foam: 0:14 Plate foam & PE foam: 0:17 PE Foam: 0:20 All foam: 0:22
Surprised the board sounds the same without any foams and with the case foam added.
whats that giga knob macro pad thing beside your keyboard?
What mounting system did you use during the different plate tests?
Most likely gasket. I usually do most testing in gasket, unless specified 🫡
@@Akeynote Oh ok. I seemed like the carbon fiber plate was the bounciest in the video, but when I tried the carbon fiber plate it seems stiffer. I'll try it again without foam tho since that's how you had it.
How do you record the sound?
I use a mkh416 mounted about 12 inches from the keyboard. Plugged into a zoom F3 recorded in 32 bit float.
Dude, could you tell me the name of the Enter and F11 switch?
It was all the same switch, oil king, the foams and stuff were strategically removed or put in. I let the switch foam in the enter and most iso enters are pretty deep like this.
Switch?
Oil kings
Nice vid mate
Thanks for always coming through bro!
What are those keycaps?
IV Ashes
Thanks for the work. I'm tuning my Cycle7. I prefer a naked, foamless board, but it was quite thin. I added the case foam and now I'm getting some feels.
You tried the rubber thingies without foam? That helped a lot for my no foam config.
@@Akeynote I used the little tadpoles. Without the foam, the sounds wasn't as loud as I like. I used Clackbits switches, which sounded better with foam. I'm guessing that a louder switch may have been fine without foam.
I ended up winning too… which plates do you think i should get?
Sorry I was on a vacay lol. Depends on the sound and feel you’re going for. Hopefully you got a good one.
Best clack? I ended up getting fr4 and cF
😅😊
Thanks!!
imo there should be no talking during sound test
There is about 6-8 seconds of silence after each explanation. Thats about the same amount of time other creators leave for soundtests. Would it be any different/better if I explained without the typing in the background, then played the 6-8 seconds of typing after? I’ll try and figure out other ways to do this.
Oh man, you said nothing but mostly good things and you're saying that its a skip 🤔
I didn’t say it’s a skip lol
@@Akeynote oh? Im just going off the title of your video. i guess i interpreted it completely wrong lol.
@0xBULLgogi clickbait my friend 👍🏽
@@Akeynote well shiiiiiii
Fantastic sound test showing O-Ring and Gasket with different foam combos. Was a smart move. Thank you!
this board flopped so hard they had to release a classic version without the led and screen lmao
lol it didn’t flop and they didn’t have to release the classic. They saw an opportunity to make more money with less materials. Win win 👍🏽.
Pc highest pitch and cf lowest? Are you sure?
Yeah. You can check out any of the previous qk stuff I have on the channel. Qk60 75 and 100 has all the plates. Pc always sounds highest to me
@@AkeynoteI see, thank you. It’s quite the opposite of what I learned from other tubers, literally the order reversed. But I’ll check out your other videos, thx again.
@kyle1152 it depends on the board but usually this rings true for me. Subjectively, less dense materials absorb lower frequencies and denser materials absorb higher frequencies better. 🫰
@@Akeynote i agree with this general correlation but isn't it more applicable to foams/cushioning than to plates/supporting or direct contacting bodies? I thought plates in keyboards play a bigger role in sound wave emission/creation than absorption/cancelation.
@@kyle1152sorry didn’t see this comment. sound source comes from the switch though not the plate. The Plates themselves don’t emit the frequency, the frequency travels through them. I’m not going to sit here and act like I did any testing on that and neither has anyone else. I know keybored has some paper math of this but he doesn’t even test the pc plate in that video. Here’s an old clip were I tested all the plates with no foam on the qk60 and you can decide. Wear headphones to really be able to hear the difference. The pc definitely sounds higher than the rest. No CF on this unfortunately. Also, my qk75 vid has the plate comparisons too and the order still seems the same to me. It all subjective though, cheers! 😊 ua-cam.com/users/clipUgkxPu2l9AohkIKl1xjFQXDYNzSqm_psCxui?si=qiA0Y_zTIWpWJ_Nz
How easy is it to toggle between wireless macbook and wired windows connection? Is there a shortcut for chosing connection type and keyboard Win/Mac layout type ?
Yeah just hit fn 1,2 or 3 for whatever is in wireless then fn q to toggle between win mac
What is the switch
I believe oil kings?
Hi... any caps lock indocator?
Yes there is a little led behind the caps lock button
Flawless video!!!! 🔥⌨️
Why shank you
Nice vid mate
You nice vid!
neo80 vs cycle7 who better at sound
I think Neo 80. It sounds a little more crisp. IMO the cycle is a deeper sounding board which I’ve grown out of a little bit
I’ve never felt so seen watching him find the screw on the ground
Hahaha it’s our kryptonite
Nice vid mate
You nice vid lol
hey! could you compare this board to the qk75n? mainly, in terms of how 'refined' the sound is, and if overall if you'd consider this as being leagues better at 2.5x the price of the qk75n. thanks!
In honesty it’s not worth 2.5x IMO. It’s amazing and is super premium but at some point there is diminishing returns. Unfortunately in order to get something this premium it always comes at a premium cost.
Those transitions were flawless, well done mate
This is the one of the only channel I watch the sound tests on, which is ironic because they're one of the longest lol. Really like the commentary during it, and the sound quality is good enough that having voices actually probably gives you a better idea anyway
Sup yo!! Thanks again always showing the love!
Nice vid mate
You are insanely underrated , my god! With this sort of humor, engagement and production quality you should easily be at 100k+ subs. Keep it up man, this video kept me engaged the entire time and had me cracking a couple smiles too! Exceptional work, subbed and liked!
Heat comment!!! I appreciate you!
Informational vid! Love the table decor <3
Thanks jr 🍆
Saw some oppai recoil🔥 Enjoyed the review as always, this color is cleannnn
Shhhh
🤐@@Akeynote
Very unique review lol The details were covered well, allowed for options but also kept it funny and lighthearted!
Thanks for watching I really appreciate the comment!!!
For those wondering about comparisons with the Neo 80. I couldn’t do it. They are completely different boards in every sense. It’s would be like comparing a four door civic and a four door model 3. I can only compare price and right now you can’t get something like this for the price of the Neo 80. Do I think it’s worth 2 times the price of the Neo 80? That’s for you to decide. What do you guys think? ❤❤❤
I just ordered mine a a Raffle winner. I also have a NEO80. So I will soon know if I have buyers remorse or not.
If you have buyers remorse someone will buy it off you 100% lol
appreciate the review, can’t say the price or TKL form factor are for me, but I dig the mounting! Also curious, I feel like conventional thought might have the expected pitch flipped from what you listed about 1:30 (with PC generally sounding lower-pitched than Alu / CF). That said, in my own experience, it’s so board / mounting style / switch / keycaps dependent, it’s hard to make broad-sweeping assumptions.
Thanks bro! I always appreciate you. It’s weird people have told me that also but pc sounds so high for me lol
@@Akeynotehaha, totally fair! I’ve been experimenting with different plates in my bakeneko for years since 60% plates are so easy to buy (and relatively cheap), and I admit the standard convention doesn’t always hold. My broken in / lightly lubed MX Blacks sounded somewhat shockingly brighter on PC than PP and Alu, which admittedly was not as expected! I feel like as I’ve tried to stop chasing a very specific sound for my builds, I can just sort of sit back and appreciate the nuances between different switches / plates / boards without being disappointed I can’t get it to sound some exact way.
Raffle just to have a chance of buying the board? That's a great board but no thanks.
very normal for owlab boards
How would this compare to the qk80?
I definitely like the look of the qk80 but this types nicer. Sound is subjective
which one do you prefer tho? qk80 neo70 or neo80 in terms of quality and feels of typing?
Quality is the same, and I like typing on the 80 more but I don’t like TKL.
Have you used PE foam? Sounds like.
No PE foam in this
I'm wondering, as a first keyboard, should i go with this or the neo65? Also taking note of the sound as im going for deep/thocky sound, Would also help if you have any thocky switches you reccomend, Thanks!
If you could afford this I would get this. It’s deeper than the neo65. I’m not really a switch connoisseur, check out maker keebs for that. The deepest switch I’ve ever used were durock lavenders, but gotta lube and film those
@@Akeynote Ah, k
What board are you using? I'm just getting into custom mechanical keyboards and im trying to decide what to buy for my setup and i think im gonna do something like this cause that sound is sooo good. Also if i dont decide this board if its too expensive etc, should i buy a keydous nj80 or a gmk67 as the board?
Yeah I would look into Neo studios. I have a few reviews of their boards on the channel right now. Around the same price as the nj80 and gmk67, but much higher quality. Check out the neo65. I constantly rotate boards so right now I’m on the qK65v2
Oooh thanks for the advice! Checking it out right now.@@Akeynote
Haha,i would buy the neo65 cause the keyboard sale is up right now but i dont got the money atm lol.@@Akeynote
