Correction! I said you can obviously only use the o ring mount with the solder pcb, but I meant vice versa! If your going plateless and want the solder pcb you will only be able to use the gasket mount since there is no plate holding the o-ring in place. Theoretically you can wrap the o ring around the switches only but you may have some trouble securing it in place.
Fantastic sound test showing O-Ring and Gasket with different foam combos. Was a smart move. Thank you!
Thanks for taking the time with the sound test man. Really appreciate it. High quality review. You got a sub.
Much appreciated! Glad you enjoyed
Thank you for this! SO excited for the drop tonight.
Kinda late but hope you got the one you wanted!!
Looking forward to this review!
Thank you hoped you enjoyed!!
Thanks for sharing the detailed sound test. This is very interesting the sound of Neo65 has been quit different with qk65v2, struggling between these two boards as well. I have been also eyeing on the Tofu FA by kbdfans.
The tofu seems awesome I wish I could’ve got one of those. Tough decisions indeed in sure you won’t be disappointed in either
Can't wait for this to release for the US to order. I'm going to buy multiple. One big point I think people need to start noting in reviews is wireless/tri-mode that actually supports QMK/VIA. Most only support it wired and proprietary software when you get the wireless PCB. Big selling point for me personally.
Damnn...leave some for the rest of us lol
Hahaha yeah you won’t be disappointed!
YEah I was actually wondering that myself. I always lean toward open source wherever possible, and the fact that tri-mode PCBs used proprietary software kept me from wanting to try them, as wireless keyboards are a luxury.
So yeah, if the Neo65 tri-mode supports VIA directly, then that actually is a game-changer.
Awesome vid man! Really appreciate how you do sound tests with multiple foam configs, I know that takes awhile. Im thinking about buying this in its cheapest config, but the plateless build didn't sound too impressive in your vid but I know that can also just be due to multiple factors. How did the plateless build sound in person? Was it actually better that the vid showed? or would you prefer to use a plate on the Neo65. It's so cheap that I want one just to kind of bring around and give people the experience of typing on a custom mechanical keyboard! And maybe sucker one of them to go down the rabbit hole of mechanical keyboards LOL
Don’t do it! Those poor folks lol.
Plateless was actually my least favorite but it’s a characteristic of the plateless experience. More muted and mega bouncy lol. Id get a plate just in case if you don’t like the creamy muted experience lol
That thing clean! 🎉❤
It sure is!
Best sound test of all time!
Looks like Gasket with pe and plate foams for me
Wondering about plateless though. Is it fine to do it on a hotswap build?
Wow! Thanks so much I really glad you think so. I used the hotswap pcb and it works. Sometimes the keys move a little but you just press em back in place lol.
Nice vid mate
Thanks for always coming through bro!
I really want someone to do a direct comparison with the mode Envoy.
Sure they're not in the same bracket in anyway but they do have the same core features... 65% unibody metal case and "gasket" mounting.
There is no way this keyboard can compare to Mode Envoy and tbh most of the reviewer tend to hide some of the "truth" about their sample keyboard. That is not their fault anyway since they need to make good review for the sample to make money. For me, this keyboard sound bad even with all the foams included.
@@phamnguyendungnhan6720 i have the envoy and ordered the neo65. im sure ill make the keyboard sound great. But i think also that it cant compete against the mode
@@phamnguyendungnhan6720why not? What makes you think the envoy is so special? Because some content creator told you it was? Come on now. There is nothing special about the Envoy beyond some youtuber height. The 3D printed lattice blocks for mounting? It's just a gasket mount, go actually read up on them. They're just TPU 3D printed in a lattice structure to simulate a particular hardness (shore) factor. It's not special. The case is just a unibody CNC aluminum with a few extra chamfers along the edge. The Envoy is charging a much higher markup and content creators shill and kiddies eat it up.
@@phamnguyendungnhan6720 I see where your coming from, but I literally make $0 for this wether you buy it or not. I only make money from whatever YT gives me. I also have a great relationship with QK, they would’ve been fine if I gave it a shit review. They are really transparent over there👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽. I wish I got my hands on an envoy but I really don’t see where an extra $100 can justify an envoy over this. If the envoy had wireless features then maybe. QK can delivery at very high scales compared to most manufacturers making things a lot cheaper without needing to sacrifice on materials.
@@jgould30 It not about how the keyboard look because it all come down to preference. The only thing that make the keyboard stand out is how it sound and feel when typing without help of foams (or little help from them). The Mode Envoy sound so much better than this keyboard imo. And you are right about the overprice of Mode Envoy, that's true. I never said any thing about the price anyway.
nice video! How does the yellow look in real life? Is it fairly light or substantially saturated?
I think I depict it well in the video if your using a 4k monitor. It’s not a deep yellow IRL closer to lighter yellow but not pale
very informative!👍 what is the clackiest customization if I may ask?
Idk this thing is confusing. The pe doesn’t bring as much marble as other pe sheets. I think it’ll depend on your switch. The pe only and gasket in real life seemed the most clacky to me lol.
You said obviously the solder PCB can only be o-ring mounted, but I'm curious why you say that? The gasket mounting is to the PCB and I see no such limitation listed in their documentation. Am I missing something because I don't see why you couldn't gasket mount the solder only PCB the same as you would the hotswap PCB.
Oh shooot! Thanks for pointing this out. I guess the wording should have been better. What I meant was, in a plateless configuration you CANNOT use the o ring mount. You can I guess, but the o ring will probably slide over the switches if there is no plate holding it in place. I assumed if your buying The Solder pcb you would be intending to use it for plateless mounting.
@@Akeynote ah okay, that makes more sense, I get what you are saying now. Probably better phrasing would just be plateless config and o-ring aren't really compatible since you lack the sandwich between the plate and PCB holding the o-ring in place. It's not so much the solder PCB that's the issue but more the fact that people who want to go plateless would probably want the solder PCB to avoid the switches coming out of the hotswap sockets. But someone could decide to go solder PCB with a plate to save a buck, just unlikely.
Is there a groove in the case that might help hod the o-ring? I hadn't thought about this before you mentioned it. Not really a configuration I'm interested in running but just made me think how it could be done.
Yo thanks for the review but where can we grab that Marin desk mat? 😂
Hahaha I got it on red bubble. It’s not sold anymore unfortunately
heck yeah!
I've been waiting for 2hrs now help
@@mapotofuuthank you so much lol
What deskmat are u using? I would love to get one
It’s not sold anymore unfortunately 😭😭😭😭. Some fake on red bubble lol
How does the higheest end configuration of this compare to the TKD Cycle7, since you reviewed both?
People compared them and from what I’ve heard the cycle is much better for value considering it can beat out $300+ keyboards
The highest version of this is 129 and the highest version of the cycle 7 is 180. The C7 is fine without foam but the Neo is great without foam and is much softer in gasket mount. It’s a toss up depending on what you want. I think the neo has better value at the most expensive configurations, but the C7 looks better. Better colors, cooler layout. If that’s worth an extra $50 bucks then your good to go. If you don’t want wireless on the C7 then the decision gets much tougher. With that said, after using both for some time I’d rather be typing on the neo.
@Akeynote how's the sound and aesthetic comparison? I'm stuck between getting the most expensive config for the neo or a cycle7 wireless config, I don't know if the cycle7 is really worth waiting for
@@cameraman9016 the typing feel of the neo is way better but the cycle is deeper but the neo has a better foamless typing feel. The neo is very clacky tho so i would recommend the cycle in terms of thockiness and also quality
@@cameraman9016 flip a coin bud lol. Your concerns are valid. I think it’ll just depend on priorities. If the cycle sees delays will it be worth the wait? But the comment above is pretty spot on. I would say the terms of quality is 49/51 cycle7, because of the ball catch system, but I’ve been typing on the Neo more.
Hey im not that into keyboards but i really love creamy keyboards what plate and stuff should i choose for that type of sound :)
Either aluminum or fr4 plate. Use either mount, all the foam maybe not the PE foam. MYbe some tangerine switches or something deep. Might wanna Check a few different reviews for the switches.
@@Akeynote thanks so much ill have a look at some different switches!
I know I'm being extremely nitpicky here but literally the only thing I don't like is how thin those size bezels are lol. I know it's specifically marketed as a benefit to the design but I'm just not feeling it. Would probably still buy one because it's too good of a deal to pass up.
Haha if your not a fan your not a fan! Totally understandable! the next neo product is probably going to be fire, if your really not feeling those bezels.
How was the sound compared to choice65 and cycle7? someone said that the neo65 sound a little bit dry and dull.
I think Keybored did a very good job in their recent comparison about these keyboards, I suggest checking it out
I just don’t see how that can be, but everyone hears things a little different. I like this better than anything I’ve tried recently. The cycle 7 is not bad at all but no foam configuration sounds a little weak to me. If you don’t mind running foam the cycle is neck and neck but just a little pricier.
how would one get there hands on that kitagawa deskmat?
I don’t know anymore. I got it on red bubble but it’s not sold anymore
May i please know the name of the outro song? Thank you 😊
Read receipts 👍🏽
Awesome thank you! More power :) always looking forward to your videos
What keycaps are you using
Esper!
Owlab decided to break the entry-level market with the 'neo' lineup @@
Funny enough neo studios and owlabs have nothing to do with each other branding wise 😉. Neo is a branch of QK and QK is a sister company of owl labs. Meaning different owners sharing HR and knowledges in different aspects of production.
@@Akeynote ahhhh thanks, ok I see now
I'm in the Cycle 7 gb but a O-ring keyboard at this price is too hard to pass on
So fucking hard. I feel bad for y’all trying to figure that out hahaha.
How is it compare to the jris65 sound wise?
I don’t know unfortunately. I never got to check out the jris
Can't wait for this to go on sale so I can agonize over which config to bu;y
Hahaha it’s a tough decision for sure.
Bought on 8th of Aug and still waiting.

Yeah but I’m pretty rough with keyboards are they are fine lol. The only thing I have problems keeping scratches off of is the weights.
New mic?
New EQ. Someone complained about it sounding too sybilant recently so tried to correct the highs a bit. Not too happy with the turnout going work on some new EQ’s to get it extra crispy. Let me know if it’s horrible lol

how much bro ?
100usd ish
@@qwertykeys2119 thanks bro
$100 ish
I think the conclusion is up for debate until people actually get their hands on it. It sounds nice, but I can't grasp overall quality from a YT video.
💯 fair, but they use the resources as qwertykeys, so you can be sure to see the same amount of quality standards are used here. Just to be clear, I have a great relationship with QK and they would’ve been fine with me trashing this if it sucked lol. I received no money and will not receive any money for this review other than what I get from YT. Trust me… this thing is amaze balls lol.
@@AkeynoteWhat I'm worried about is the durability of the case finish after months of continuous use. It's hard to argue given the price point, but cheaper boards shouldn't be exempted from scrutiny. Criticism can result in a good product becoming great.
its great for its price but still overhyped as a good no foam board, cycle7 did a much better job for only 50 dollars difference.
Your not wrong lol
