I had plenty of free time. LOL. This should make it easier to compare specific setups. Enjoy!
Holy face! Thanks for this. You get a pin and a sub lol
@@Akeynote Hahah, thanks!
some timestamps for the all-foam-gang
0:34 alu plate with all foams
1:14 fr4 plate with all foams
1:54 pom plate with all foams
2:32 pc plate with all foams
3:04 plateless with all foams
Thanks for this. I was planning on adding more timestamps so you saved me some time!
they all sound the same haha....
@@muCephei_ Yeah kinda what people metion about pe foam and all. But i think the feel will be a bit different for each plate.
I think fr4 is slightly higher pitch, and alu is creamier? Just what I think I hear
I can't imagine how long this must have taken. Fantastic work.
Loooooong lmao thanks for watching
I agree. This will take a lot of effort to have this combinationSSSSS. Lol. This really deserves like and subscribe. Thanks for these combos @akeynote! 👌
@@kurukroo anytime! It’s my goal to give some value to you folks so glad I did!
I hope you stay consistent with vids like this! The community needs it! Especially for group buys 🤩
I will as long as the keyboard studios continue to provide me all plates lol
Thank you for this! I was torn between Pom and FR4, and I think based on this I’ll be happy with either because I love having all the foam in for that muted, marble type sound.
Yeah not a big difference in sound. The pom is definitely softer though.
omg this is quality content. thx for the effort!
Glad you enjoy it!
Such a good video! Must've taken a lot of effort to make. You deserve way more subs. Keep it up!
Thank you. Just looked to add some value to the keeb space!
The dedication to make this video, wow! Great content
Man I wish every youtuber did this. So much effort but so good on letting the viewers decide which config is the best for them.
I will do it for every keyboard sent to me lol
And yet again I like the sound of all foam lmao. Thanks for the video!
It definitely stands out!
thank you for all your efforts for this video
Thank you for watching!
Ok Alu plate full foam check 🙌 thank you so much for all the work!
No problem, glad it helped!
man this must've taken forever! Thank you!
No problem!
Thank you for this amazing vid!!
You're so welcome!
You rock! Thanks for throwing this together. It honestly sounds like plateless js the winner here, but I’ll probably grab Alu and POM nonetheless.
No wrong choices with this
Thanks, buddy!!!
lot of help in selecting the plate.
Nice channel.
Hope you can hit 10k subs asap !!!
Anytime, if I’m not creating value for y’all then what’s the point? Am I right lol
You sir just earned a subscriber. Great video!!
You just earned my love
Really thanks for your effort ^^
No problem 😊
Glad to see this came out! Was just wondering what stabs you used in your build.
Owlstabs. These are included in the kit.
Very good effort, thank you for making this video. :)
Np! Thanks for coming by.
You dropped this king 👑
You my friend have earned a sub lol
Great video! This helped me decide to go for alu (might get the pom as an extra). Will be getting in ano grey. 🙂
Nice nice and even nicer! My fav is the grey might buy my own unit.
me too! what keycaps are you planning to use with the ano grey?
@@DNVideo010 the same ones from the video 😂
@@Akeynote Haha. This is my first grey keebs but I still don't know what keycaps should I use with it
Subbed. This was a big effort I'm sure... great job. I have a Qk75 on the way. C'mon February!! I bought alu and pom. What sounds best to you IRL?
Shoot your not gonna like it. FR4 w/ plate foam lol. But that’s just me I’m a huge FR4 snob. Alu w plate & case foam is nice and pom w/ plate foam sound cu too!
This is the golden video of QK75 sound test and should be pinned everywhere. Thank you so much for your effort!!!
That’s high praise… thank you so much 😊
this really helped me decide my plate hihi
Glad it helped!
Subbed btw 😉
@@Akeynote EEEEEE YOWWWW IM HONORED SIR
I would give this more than 1 upvote if I could, this is hugely helpful.
I appreciate it !!!
Holy work ethic!
Thanks yo! I have permanent mold in my thumb from pressing down so many times on red jackets. Let me know if you need to borrow it lol
I’d love to see how you did these individual mods on the QK75
Wow, the PE foam really dominates the sound once it's added. I can't tell much of a difference once it's added
Yeah very slight difference.
PE is trash
@@aesric some people’s trash is another’s treasure lol
Where can I get PE foam? Does it come with the order?
@@user-un1lr3wr7c yes, it comes with the qk75. for other boards, durock and others also sell pe foam switch pads which are for a single switch. you can also get white pe foam sheets (like the baggie that a glass screen protector comes in) that you cut to size and just jam the switches through.
Amazing, man! Loved the style you implemented for the sound tests...
I am thinking of getting the QK75 but I live in India and the shipping and custom charges are killing me!!! 😢
@J M bro, I didn't really catch you there, could you come again please?
I think @user-gs8os8cs4r means we’re lucky and CONUS customers are lucky because we are in spoiled brat territory. To reply to your comment though, that really sucks! I think someone else from India commented and said the shipping was like $70 bucks. If it makes you feel better this thing punches way above $300 in terms of features IMO.
@@Akeynote Hey thanks so much for clarifying the comment. And yes, I will have to pay around 70 bucks in shipping, which takes the cost to 230 bucks. On top of that, when it arrives in India, I might have to pay 50% of the total amount in customs. So that takes the total amount to, I am guessing, $335!!! A QK rep told me that it could go even higher. 😢
@@techsav omg! Dang that’s rough man.at that price you might have to think about it for sure.
@@Akeynote You think I should get it? It would be my first custom mech board!
Legend 😊
You legend!
In terms of feel, what did you prefer? I picked up a QK75 w/ Alu plate mostly by default and because I have more experience with stiffer typing and limited experience with the other plate materials.
Alu and fr4. I’m a stiffer typing experience dude. The mounting system really does a lot of the heavy lifting tho. So not much difference between the two. Still pretty soft which is nuts
very good video, but I suggest adding timestamps for each config (not only for the plates)
for example, I want to compare every plate with only plate foam
I’ll do it at some point today!
this is what all sound tests should be like
Agreed!
Oh man... I am really tempted by the QK75.. but they also just announced the Zoom75.... 😢 can't decide!! nonetheless amazing content and video
Yeah super tough choice. I’m sure you can’t make a mistake with either
QK75 > any Zoom, imo
@@273.45amg don’t make @paulwen8566 feel worse lol
Surprsingly the alu with all but PE foam (PE foam makes all boards sound the same) sounds better then the other ones in my eyes in that specific confiq.
You like what you like!
Hey! Thanks for the video. Currently deciding between 2 options in the aftermarket. How does the QK75 compare to the Zoom75 in terms of typing feel, flex, build quality and sound? Much appreciate any advice on this. Thanks!
QK 75 feels more stiff and bouncy while the zoom feels squishy. I think that’s the most important thing. I like the sound of the QK more but if your using foams the the zoom seems better
Lube your switche bro !!!!!
Naaah
Stellar effort! How much time did this take you?!?
A couple days lmao. I mean the whole video took about a week but the building and recording I’d say about 2 days
@@Akeynote Wow, yeah, I can imagine. Mine take around 12-15 hours to produce, and that’s with just one build. Lots of narrative, though. Bet if I cut that out and focused just on the build types, it would create more value in terms of sound tests. May do that with my Q1 as I have a few more plate types for that now.
@@thatUtsavRatti that’s what I would do. Especially when people have already seen a lot of coverage on a specific board. Just sound test it out. I use to review everything but I feel like the reviews I did with older boards did super bad lol.
this is actually insane.... I just built mine with FR4 and tinkering with what config i like best! gotta ask, whats your fav with the FR4? Thanks for your hard work man!
Just case foam. It really tightens up the sound without it sounding too foamy
@@Akeynote Much appreciate bro!
@@Akeynote trying different configs at the moment but haven't tried this one specifically. Do you also find the sound muted in this one? Anything without the PE foam sounds thin and muted for me but i want to make it work lol
@@jeffreygaston6687 what plate & switches?
@@Akeynote im currently trying FR4 and plate foam only and it's the most acceptable so far. I previously tried aluminum plate and sound is so thin and muted especially with non long pole switch.
would you say that the 8 degree typing angle tires you out for long typing periods?
No but I may not be the best to answer. I regularly use different angle and stuff all the time I rarely get typing fatigue. Only in my left forearm when I’m trying to PR monkey type for a straight hour lol
Just came across your channel and I would like to thank you for your efforts into putting this video together! I’m new to the community and would like to know does all of the foam come with the kit? Or do I have to purchase them separately?
They are all included
@@Akeynote Ty for the response. Do you have any recommendations of what switches go well for each plate config for this kit?
@@vincentbui3323 that’s a tough one. Too many options lol. I think maybe just start with a switch you like in the plate you want then adjust accordingly.
@@Akeynote you’re right lol, there’s so many options and its tough to choose which switch I want for my first build.
@@vincentbui3323 ohhh first build?! My first build was with gateron black ink v1 lol. So much has changed but I think I still base most of my opinions on that switch. You never forget your first. I would just go with something that’s good out of the box with no lubing or filming. if you want something deep try green jackets. There are a lot other ones but those are the most recent in my memory. Just note the GJ are kinda heavy compared to your normal switch.
Hi is it true that the PE foam does make the typing sound louder IRL? Because everytime you put PE foam, the sound volume got louder as well.
Damn I like the alu sound, but had already ordered using POM plate 😅 well i guess i need to change the switch to match the plate sound
Yeah it gets “louder”. When foam is added faster frequencies (higher pitched) become slower (lower pitched). So the lower frequencies become more apparent. Everything is recorded at the same distance and volume. All raw audio, that’s why the room noise is still present during the typing tests and not the talking head lol.
@@Akeynote thanks for the explanation man. Guess I'll stick using all foam except PE foam then
@@Akeynote what foam reduce the thin-ness of the board(because of the flex cut)? I assume it was the platefoam, but does using case foam & both plate and case foam make a difference?
@@haihao2942 yes it does make a difference. I think the case foam reduces it the most, but you may think otherwise. You can always use painters tape to seal the flex cuts also
@@Akeynote the vertical flex cut make it bit difficult to cleanly tape it lol... might try stuffing foam and just let it be
now build them all again and test the flex for each build!
Naaaah lol. I did that in the other video. Adding 2 layers of foam will pretty much make them all feel similar with PC being the exception. Even then you won’t be able to tell during normal typing.
I subscribed. Could you review keycult please? :))
Haha got a couple videos on backlog. But I’ll be comparing my keycult vs a clone soon.
Pe foam made all sounds similarly 😂😂, I will use plate, case foam for my pc plate ver
Yeah pe is fairly predictable.
Does the FR4 and POM/PC plate feels a lot different when typing?
PC for sure. Fr4 and pom slightly. You won’t notice to be honest. The mounting system really does all the heavy lifting.
Could you help me to choose between this or keychron q1v2?
This for sure but unfortunately the group ended a couple days ago 😿. Lots of stuff coming out so I would would it our
In terms of typing feel, how different is pom and fr4?
Pretty similar actually. The mounting system does a lot heavy lifting making most plates feel very similar. PC is the only thing that is really different, being softer. No wrong choice here just depends on the sound your going for.
@@Akeynote gotcha, and ty for all your hard work, appreciate it 🙏
Which’s your prefer more pom or pc? so hard to decide.
I prefer pom but you can’t make a bad choice IMO
which plate do you think is the clackiest one?
It’ll depend on your switches but pc for me
@@Akeynote great, thanks! i’m tryna build mine as clacky as possible and alr got everything just need to know if it’s worth buying alu plate if i already have pc
Will the QK75 sleep when you change devices if you get the trimode?
Will it sleep when you change devices? Or do You mean if you don’t use it anymore? Either way I don’t think so but it has two lipo batteries that work in series I believe, so the lifetime between charges is fairly long. Haven’t tested it officially, But I’ve been using it in dongle mode for about a week still hasn’t died. I’ve only tested range in Bluetooth mode. Which was great compared to other BT keebs I’ve had.
@@Akeynote When I use a KVM to switch which device my keyboard types to (Mac laptop vs desktop), it sleeps my Everglide SK87. So I was wondering if you had to double tap the spacebar (Or whichever key is used to wake the kb) whenever you change devices.
@@noviriustomeisho6630 oh I see. No I didn’t experience any of that. Once one of the three blinking lights in BT mode pairs. It should be usable right away.
it seems like what I actually like is PE foam..
Ya sounds like case foam and plate foam doesn't do too much but pe foam makes a big difference.
PE makes a difference in everything for sure.
Do you like this better than the qk60?
Overall maybe just a tiny bit more because of the mounting system.
Is it just me or when u throw enough foam in there they all got the same thock foam sound regardless of plate material
Yeah just slight difference IRL. Not one you can tell unless you compare side to side. What really will change is the switch choice
What is that giant round knob thing for?
It’s the cyberblade from angry Miao. Gaming earbud dac / amp
Okay now do it with all the switches
If I had every switch I would try lol
what is your favorite plate?
Fr4! Seems more versatile. Can clack or thock
I cannot fathom the amount of time this took
Didn’t take long at all ….👻
plate foam and pe really make a huge different. But nowadays almost every single China custom keeb GB offer PE foam, PE foam make board sounds better but also very boring. PE foam make every keyboard almost sounds the same. Since I already had my Ikki68 Aurora with PE foam, my incoming Qk75 may just with plate foam only.
Wait, how can plateless and plate foam?
I missed it 🥲
@@Akeynote I think he means how does it work since you don't have a plate? Does the foam just sit on top of the PCB?
@@kenshin1368yeah
Oh I see lol. You just put it on. It still hugs the switches.
@@Akeynote haha, a bit weird to me, but it does change the sound better
it'd be better if the video was longer
Used to make them longer, but there’s too much drop off in the analytics. You can see this in most keeb content creators stuff nowadays. Typing tests are getting shorter and shorter.
@@Akeynote i see. Can you tell me your thoughts on the sound of alu and fr4 in real life. I'm having a harsh time making a decision
@@Augustus28 Alu has a metallic resonance while fr4 has a pcb resonance. Alu has a ting to it while fr4 doesn’t. They feel pretty comparable because of the mounting system. Alu is heavier, maybe that can help decide lol.
@@Akeynote thank you a lot, man. Still a hard choice lol.
@@Akeynote i just want to know if fr4 sound muted on this board
tbh qk75 sounds very mid
You think so?! Maybe my recording set up is just wack lol.
sounds better than a jane v2
@@Akeynote hmm ya I'd go for the freebird still
please don't end my souindtests! 😂🥲
Haha we can never end MCZ! If you read this comment go sub lol
