Great video, thanks for sharing! 😉😉
Hi Josh , i'm Doing a coversion on an Old Heron (in NZ ) I'm doing pretty much as you have done . ? how do you get full rudder on the Tack with the Mizzen just of centre line ? how is the helm under a good breeze ? it looks like theres a bit of weather helm , good , and how far forward of C Lat resistants dod you put cenrtre of Effort ? thanks Bob.
could you sleep 2 adults inside?
Can you hire a smaller dinghy to sail on narrabeen lagoon?
Do you ever worry about sharks if it flips?
I noticed your navigator doesn't have any rub rails. Do you ever miss them?
where do you get aluminum spars for a sloop rigged navigator? Trying to decide between building wooden ones or buy aluminum.
I live on the central coast of California. Grew up in and around the local harbor. Always daydreamed of boat camping up and down the coast in the warm summer. Cherry pick the finest days. So many great spots. The adaptations for dingy camping could easily be applied to a small van, or truck and camper. There's so much to see out there.
Perhaps a Venturi self bailer?
Nice video
Great reminder about the rubbish. Grt galley box too.
My dream to own one and sail.
lovely boats
neat little boat!!!
Are you going to have to get a mast head light next - just in case you are caught in the dark? I am sure you can get a battery operated remote controlled one. Lovely galley box!
I might look at the Anaconda temporary light. It should only be a sometimes thing!
Nice Josh.. as always..
Appreciate that. Cheers Mitch.
Thanks Gary. You will have to supply the videos from here on in!
Thanks Josh, good work all round! Well done on the rubbish clearing❤
Cheers Gary!
Thank you for this video. I was surprise that you will stop cruising, as spring is coming now. No ! Of course ! You live on the over side of the planet ! Autum is coming for you ! (I'm calling from Brittany-France).🙂So have nice repair on your boat and see you next... season...
Thank you Christophe. Winter sailing is actually really good here in Australia but Trim needs her hull repaired and refinished. Enjoy your sailing season!
That was really interesting! Which island did you land on?
It’s called One Tree Island- I was a bit disappointed about the previous day so was determined to get some island footage. It’s quite close to Soldiers Point. Cute, huh?
Great video Josh. Where did you get your sails. Im looking for a new set and yours look good.
Ben Gemmell. He is a professional sailmaker and dinghy sailor. I will message you his number.
Great video from the other side of the planet.
Thanks for visiting Australia. Please come again.
Great cruise. Even in Tokyo (population around 38 million) we never had a lockdown or restrictions on movement.
It feels weird that happened now 3 years later! Thanks for dropping by, please check out our more recent videos!
Enjoyed that Josh. Was quite crazy out there!! The waves never look quite so big on UA-cam as they are in real life so they were getting there weren't they and probably a good decision to turn back! Some of us "Europeans", if you can call British people that any more, are always looking for the quiet serene spots that are increasingly hard to come by on our crowded little island, so I love watching your channel and the lovely quiet spots in abundance. Every sail is truly a mini adventure! Thank-you very much for sharing the new Galley box and the rubbish bag idea and keep flying the drone! Mine took a dip in Lake Ullswater recently but fortunately had insurance so it only cost me £62 for a new one with new battery!!! You have to take the risks to get the good shots!! Happy sailing
Cheers Dave, jealous of the Brits too. You are right in that the sea state is scarier in real life. Take care, J
Well done Josh, great video and good advice.
Thanks Chris, glad you enjoyed it. Take care, J
Cool episode
Thanks! Take care, Josh
Nice galley box. Thanks for tips and tricks. Leachate! Eeew.
Ha, a scientific name for bin juice, well done!
@@DinghyCruisingKingfisher Ha ha . Yeah, I work in a lab and we test landfill leachate. Eeew. Enough to peel paint.
What a terrific sail the first day! Love the galley box -great idea to use recycled bin to line it. Good luck with the repairs and look forward to your next sail.
Oh yes, day 1 was very exciting. Thanks for your kind words. Take care. J
Hey Josh nice video and you’re back to drone work.DJI ?or something else?Shame about Broughton but that’s sailing! Cheers Bruce
Yes, dji mini 2 se. The most basic but the quality is awesome. Thanks for advice prior to departure. You really need a tailwind for Broughton. Or a 12 hour day!
Thanks for the video. Good luck on the repairs and I hope you can get on the water somehow, while the repairs are in progress!
Glad you liked it…, maybe I can get a crew spot on another vessel. Thanks for leaving a comment. J
What are the dimensions of your galley box? I'm trying to design one.
Hi, contact me at dinghycruisingkingfisher@gmail.com and I will give you a detailed response about dimensions and why I chose them.
Great video Josh setting the bar higher for us open boat dinghy cruisers poking your head outside port Stephens heads. Well done congratulations and very good tips with rubbish and galley box.
Glad you enjoyed it Stephen. Take care, Josh
Nice video Josh. Good call to turn back. And thanks for looking after the environment.
Thanks Bernard. I’m glad I didn’t pursue the Broughton idea. No wind the next day also makes the return difficult.
thanks Josh. loved this episode. great G box, liked the message about trash and that wee island looked very cool. stay salty mate, Mat & Jo ⚓👍
Thanks guys. Have been enjoying your work also.
Fantastic Josh....Broughton in that wind...brave man. I love your galley box and a new drone, it makes all the difference, what brand?, cheers Paul
Same as last one. Dji mini 2 se. Basic but gets great results. Happy to come film KL while Trim is on the hard. J
Good to see you back on YT. Nice rubbish bag idea, will copy.
Glad you found it helpful. Bin juice…. Ewww.
Great video Josh. Terrific content sea birds, island, fast sailing, vegetation and of course the prized piece of furniture - the galley box - with dowell joints!
Thanks for that, yes, dowel joints to avoid rusty screws!
Nice video I really enjoyed it, see you when you start posting again.
Thanks for the visit! Josh
Cool micro cruise, great content, Great shots and thanks for picking up the rubbish ( imagine if we all did the same or not leave it in the first place) 👍
Exactly! Thanks for your comment.
The blocks aren't big enough. The mainsheet on the keel housing blocked itself unnoticed when heaved to ...
Love the new boat, perfect day to try it out, adjust as you go. May you have many happy days mate👍😎
Thanks Craig. I’ve got her dialled in nicely now, new sails and everything!
Bugs? Don't see any mozzie netting...
I rarely have a problem with them, and when I do, repellents work well.
Well now. That was just delightful!
Looks good 👍🏼.
Thanks 👍
Looks great, can’t wait to get mine done someday…👍🏼
You can do it!
Nice video. Can I ask, what is the point of the pool noodle on the end of the sprit, that I can see at the end of the video?
That was an attempt at a mast float. When the gunter rig is up, the gaff is vertical- the float is there to prevent turtling. Thanks for watching. J
The World needs more Welsford and less Toyota. Thanks Josh, Mat & Jo
Ha. Indeed. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. J
What a fabulous video Josh. Sailing amongst all those boats looked amazing.
It was great to get up close to them- with some good breeze too. Thanks for watching, Josh
NaviRaider
I will pass that name on. Thanks for the suggestion. Josh
Nice footage there Josh well done.
Thanks Bruce. Great to get a new fella out there.
