- A winter dinghy cruise in Trim the Navigator from Summerland Point to Awaba Bay over 3 days. Some beautiful evenings and a fantastic 20km downwind run home on the last day. Great sailing all round!

At least you got above 3 degrees, My mother made me go sailing(not made, but volunteered) in ONE DEGREE WEATHER!!!!! Sighed, a very cold and tired kid, Gene.
Yes you have it way more hard core in Tassie. I think you are very tough going sailing in 3 degrees. Huge respect. Josh
Check out the Cape Cod Frosty for kindred spirits.
The cooking segment was much more authentic than bloody masterchef. Love the sage advice re oil vs salami.
Ha, I almost didn’t put that in the video. Salami has enough oil for two meals I reckon. Thanks for your comments, Josh
Thanks again, Josh and "Trim," for your generosity in posting these wonderful voyages. Cheers and fair winds, from rainy Japan.
Good to hear from you Mike. It is our pleasure to present you our voyages, glad you like them. Josh
You had a pretty good chop on that last day! Trim handled it all very well! Fun to watch!
Yes the boat was no problem in those conditions! Thanks for dropping by Dennis.
Nice ride mate bit cold for a Florida boys blood though
Ha! That first night was pretty chilly but the rest was fine- I shouldn’t complain! Thanks for watching, Josh
Great stuff Josh. Bet you were glad to be in Trim rather than Kingfisher when the wind and waves picked up.
Ooh yes, just a more comfortable ride all round. See you round Terry. Josh
great video Josh glad you enjoyed yourself its a great lake to sail on there's plenty of room. It looks like you're getting comfortable sailing Trim. thanks for sharing.
Hi Stephen. Yes a great body of water to sail on, and clearly plenty of wind. Thanks for your comments, take care. Josh
great vid: much appreciated
Thanks so much Steve, appreciate your kind words.
I really enjoyed your video and have subscribed. HI from the UK.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for dropping by and subscribing. Josh
Nice lake and down wind run. Looked like a great few days.
It was a great trip. I really enjoy doing solo stuff as well as joining in with the Raid Sydney group.
That was the money shot at the end. I think if you positioned your jib sheet slider forward 6inches the steering would have worked.
Thanks Ross, that steering is a work in progress! And probably best when I am not anxious about it being too breezy. Appreciate the comment, cheers. Josh
Im going to consider sheet autohelm, thanks for the intro to it. It may not work for my boat as I cross- sheet.
@@olivei2484 there are way better videos by others on the subject. Good luck with it!
Great vid Josh….looks like an awesome place.
Fantastic for sailing because it is so big. Not a huge selection of remote camping spots but enough for us. Thanks for dropping by again. Josh
Thanks for another great video. You have probably been asked this before but I was wondering if Trim is named after Matthew Flinders' cat.
Yes Peter - we workshopped the ‘Navigator’ angle and one of my favourite books is Bryce Courteney’s ‘Matthew Flinders’ Cat’ which is not really about sailing. Anyway, Trim is her name now!
Hi Josh, another great video there.
Just a thought are you going to paint the sheer plank ?
Are you finding the navigator is to small or to big for what you wanted to do ?
Hi Mark. Yes I plan to put timber rub rails back on her and paint that top plank a darker colour. At 15 ft the Navigator is perfect for me - easy to tow and store, yet feels 'big boat' out in the swell and chop. Plenty of room for gear while still having lots of buoyancy. Moves so nicely, I am very happy with the performance of the boat. Thanks for checking in with us again. Josh
@@DinghyCruisingKingfisher thanks Josh, I am thinking of building a pathfinder which is a little bigger. But before I start I am looking at lots of yachts first to make sure this is the way I want to go.
