Well done Josh Gotta love the simplicity of the old wooden boats…what doesn’t kill them.. makes them stronger. ! Especially with a good fillet of epoxy.
I have done this without a vertical frame member and works ok. I have also added a vertical strut to the next frame rail on another. Timber boats and epoxy. There’s little you can’t do.
Hi Josh, i have a problem with my ancient timber Heron frames. The original builder never nailed the plywood to the frames, or bevelled the frames meaning there is little gaps between frame and plywood. Luckily its easy to fix these days with Epoxy. But do you reckon an epoxy fillet would be enough to bond it all together? I might also add a 2" fibreglass reinforcement strip over the fillet...
After seeing the video of you going thru that sqaull its nice to see the repair job. Love small wooden boats. Thanks for the videos!
Thanks Norm. Glad the repair wasn’t too involved!
Well done Josh

Good job. And you had a frame to bolt right through.

I think my significant other would have issues if I went away on a boys weekend and came back having caught crabs...
There’s an ointment for that…
