Another wonderful cruise with Kingfisher! And the shot at 6:50 is spectacular. Thanks for turning my attention well-away from the snow outside, awaiting my shovel and curses. Fair winds!
Another great video, thanks Josh! You're getting into the Kate Louise territory of making the rest of us (or at least me) feel a bit inadequate in the videography and editing departments. (But don't stop ... )
Ha! Yes I am spending lots of time learning how to make the films, camera work/editing and so on. I quite enjoy the film making process, almost as much as the sailing. Glad you liked it, thanks again for checking in on the channel. Josh
Thanks Erik! Yes I fell in love with timber boats because of Kingfisher. You will see I have a Welsford Navigator called Trim in some of my other videos. I also did a boat tour of Kingfisher if you wanted more of a close look at her. Thanks for your kind comments. Josh
Awesome sail! I'm always looking for improvements for my two dinghies, and I love the way you set the oars! I currently just stow loosely into the bow of my boat.
Oars are difficult to deal with right? I lose the ability to hike off the deck, but I gain space in the cockpit. I can stow the oars in the boat but generally they go where you see them- I use them pretty regularly for manoeuvring around.
I have my oars similar to Josh. One thing, pretty obvious but worth noting, is that they make clambering back in from over the side very difficult. I went for a swim (intentionally) while tied up to a mooring and tried getting back in from the side. Using the jib sheet to help I could do it but it wasn't easy.
Hey Josh love the video....I've been waiting for it, and the drone footage makes all the difference. It looks like a great Raid destination. Good boat ramp? cheers Paul
Boat ramp was good if you are ready to leave straight away- no real beach to do last minute fenargling. I expect Kate Louise will have depth issues in many places- lots of shallow sections.
@@DinghyCruisingKingfisher Sanctuary Point boat ramp has a little beach, but even shallower up that end of the basin. My Heron's centreboard hit bottom as I sailed east across to Wright's Beach ua-cam.com/video/W7V88QMMuok/v-deo.html
No, She doesn’t draw much depth with the centreboard up, and if she starts to drag centreboard when its down, it swings back out of the way. I have Navionics charts to check an area generally, the rest is by eye.
That hero shot of KF on the water… that single white sail… oh my xx - from Holly
Hi Josh I really loved the video Thankyou so much from Gene
Thanks guys. Glad you liked it - super tricky flying, filming and sailing at same time. Worth it!

Thanks again for your kind words. Hope the snow doesn’t last too long!
@@DinghyCruisingKingfisher Another "Kingfisher Kruise" would help keep the white stuff away, methinks... ; )
So cool that you were out sailing the same time we were in TipSea!
Yes, don’t know about you but I was having anxiety about the tsunami rolling in. You didn’t even have oars you are so chilled. Respect.
Flying a drone whilst sailing solo is impressive!
Its ridiculously difficult, but got a couple of good shots. You’ll note we are just drifting, steering with one knee!
Really enjoyed the video - thanks v much.
My Mirror dinghy is a similar age.
Sadly the UK weather temperature is less comfortable for sailing.
Jim
It was a mirror that got me interested in dinghy cruising- I’m sure you have seen the Mirror Cruising channel. Hope things warm up for you soon. Josh

Cheers Josh.
Spring is not too far away now....
always enjoy your trips
Thanks mate!
Great episode Josh…Loved the drone work. 👍🏻
Thanks very much. Glad you liked it. Tricky to fly and sail at same time but worth it I reckon.

Thanks, I'll check them out!

Awesome video! I've only sailed the north eastern section. Would love to sail more of my home-away-from-home waterway with you sometime.
Look forward to that TB. I think there’s still more to see in the western end. I didn’t have time to get a look up there.
Great videos. I noticed the blue mast flotation. Am wondering what material it is and does it do the job?
Ah, that is a pool noodle. Not very traditional wooden boat, but it gives me a sense of confidence that it will assist my floating timber mast.

Another fantastic video. Big thanks. Would you mind telling us how much you weigh, interested as you said you where doing fine unreefed in 15 knots
Thanks for your kind comments. I weigh 85kg, plus I have 60kg of gear in the boat (refer to packing list link for details). Cheers

Josh ..Do you use a depth sounder?
