Old Armenian Folk Song 🇦🇲 "Khio" by Christine Hovhan
Christine Hovhan performs her rendition of an Armenian Folk song called Khio, otherwise known as "Tnen ilar" or “Sandi erge.” The song was performed at the AGBU Vatche and Tamar Manoukian Cultural Center, an event hosted by Armenian Arts. @ChristineHovhan & @StepanPartamian
English Lyrics:
You came out of the house, stood by the door
With your back slender, like a dagger's handhold
The breeze hit, throwing me about
I am dazed and confused for your love
Khio, Khio, Khane, Khane.
The streamy water comes from the mountain
It comes and pours over the marble rocks
Do not provoke my bruised heart
I do not have news from my sweet love
Khio, Khio, Khane, Khane.
May you have a price, and I'll pay
I'll paint on your hands and legs
And drink the wine with you
To get drunk and sleep in your bosom
Khio, Khio, Khane, Khane.
Armenian Lyrics:
Armenian Written in Roman Letters:
Tnen elar du kaynar tyurr

K’yamin ezar, itu shurr-murr
Yes k’vo sirun shivar u tsurr

You want independence why? Just so you can be another shitty country in the Caribbean? PR is already corrupt enough

IT ALSO HURTS THE VIRGIN ISLANDS
💯
10 years ago I was in Puerto Rico I traveled from fajardo to mayagues
Cross the Islan in every McDonald's people speak English
@ernestovasquez2274 did you only eat at McDonald’s? 😄
@@dougkalagian I think you like to criticize
Haha not criticizing, just kidding
I always dreamed of marrying a gringa but they always rejected me 😅
Bendito
Independent for what to be like cuba and Venezuela looks all the problem they have for b e independent
What do you think would be the best option?
I support Sovereignty with Free association but ultimately want independence!
As a boricua who lived in SoCal around mostly Mexicans it was a struggle! 😅 nobody understood my Spanish 🤣
Lol I'm from SoCal too and am learning Spanish in Puerto Rico. I haven't had much opportunity to practice my Spanish in SoCal yet, but I'll report back once I do to see if they can understand me 😁
@@dougkalagian Mexicans and Puerto Ricans speak VASTLY different in Spanish lol
Hahah what are the big differences you’ve noticed?
@@dougkalagian I feel like the slangs are complete opposites, general spanish is the same ofc but if one or the other tries to use alot of slang you might not understand.
@@dougkalagian well for one the accents are very different, many words have different meanings, and some words in Mexico are bad in PR and vice versa.
The curly hair with the tanktop, yes.
Why is this a thing 😂 ppl are ppl

Me personal as a taino to each of there own i wouldnt we are completely different and its unequally yoked i stay to my own
Seems like Independence is leading by 9-1 ratio in this video. Yet, every time there’s a vote, 60% is always in favor of statehood or keeping the status quo.
Right? We were surprised by the result.
Keep in mind the referendums are held by the Statehood party every time, and voter turnout is low because opposing parties protest the PNP party (pro statehood). Also, the decision is ultimately up to congress so every one knows the “elections” are non-binding.
@GardenStateNJ27 exactly!
@@dougkalagian thanks for using your platform to share this information! A lot of people are uninformed about Puerto Rico, especially those in the United States… many don’t even know that they are US citizens!
@@GardenStateNJ27 My pleasure! Thanks for tuning in and engaging in the comments. To be honest, having grown up in California, I wasn't too aware of Puerto Rico before beginning work in disaster recovery. But since then I have fallen in love with the island and the people. I hope the political situation can one day be resolved.
As a Georgian I must say Armenians are a great contributor to the beauty of Tbilisi. They built some of the most beautiful buildings in the city, and produced some of the best art and culture.
Nice!! Which Armenian buildings are your favorite around the city?
@@dougkalagian I would have to say buildings like the Caucasus University building, formerly known as the Nersisian school, the Vanki tower, and the Artsruni Caravansarai, which is currently the Tbilisi History Museum.

It would be like Hawaii and the natives would leave.
You have to go to Gringolandia if you don't speak the language but Gringolandia is in Dorado, a very limited place.
💯 - Rincón seems like it’s becoming like that too
@ dougkalagian I see what's happening on the island, and it saddens that it's becoming like Hawaii. The natives are disappearing
@Dionicio-hr4lq I hope it never fully becomes like Hawaii. Puerto Rico’s culture is so rich!
@@dougkalagian I really hope not I been thinking of going to live there and maybe have a food garden and such to sustain me.
@@Dionicio-hr4lq That sounds like a dream. Where are you living nowadays?
I've known people who've been cut in broad daylight for calling somebody a cabron / cabrona in P.R. . Within the context of an insult, it basically means " stupid / unsuspecting cuckold". Other Latin cultures throw it around like a vulgar term of endearment but if you say that to the wrong person in P.R. your life will be in danger.
Damn, thats crazy. I've heard it used in a playful manner in Puerto Rico, but I can see how it could be intense if you said it to insult.
@@dougkalagian Depends, w friends it's an everyday thing like sayin "bro", but obvs don't approach strangers like that

*I hate that word too. This shit feels more like social pressure than sustaining of freedom. It’s GROSS because I see the petty comedy in it. It’s NOT fun.*
Can you explain what you mean?
*THIS IS NOT COMEDY.*
Huh?
*Also, more people should think that they own Puerto Rico because Puerto Ricans themselves generally don’t even have that attitude. When you’re sensible and own something, you maintain it. Puerto Rico is generally FILTHY. That man is acting like a child and it’s EXTREMELY obnoxious.*
*”Blue eyes/white skin”. It’s not funny. A bunch of Puerto Ricans have those features. That shit didn’t come off as funny - even if he thought it did. It’s a waste of time. If you’re going to be funny, say something that’s actually absurd and not something that feels trite and stupid. This shouldn’t have ever even been posted.*
*Filth is not cultural. Puerto Rico is filthy. I’m not a “gringo”. My dad’s side and mom’s side of the family is Puerto Rican and I was born and raised here for about 7 years. Now I’m back living here and this place is BRUTALLY oppressive. A “gringo” is not an American. It’s a DISPARAGING word for anyone who doesn’t speak Spanish. Y’all are racist and full of shit. Too confident in yourselves to the point that you think your feces should be put on store shelves. This isn’t a comedy channel. It’s bullshit. Adults that need to shut the fuck up and do something productive instead of destructive and petty. Idiots on this video strike me as literally good-for-nothing and insensitive. They’re the types of idiots that laugh with their bullshit gangs when someone is suffering. They spend so much time focusing on extremely filthy and petty things.*
*What y’all really need to be doing is pressure washing those disgusting sidewalks and façades of buildings in Puerto Rico instead of promoting this nonsense. Shit. STOP THE BULLSHIT DRAMA!!!!!!*
i love my Puerto Rican girlfriend (of course spending my teen years in Miami helped)
👏🏻 did you guys meet in Miami?

Who cares what these Puerto Ricans think really, go where you want and do what you want and don't listen to these idiots, when I go to Puerto Rico it's to visit family, I couldn't care less what they think of me.
Gringo comes to Puerto Rico and buys up all the land and houses. Locals are piced out and leave. In 50 years Puerto Rico is the next Hawaii , no native language or culture left. Just ask any native Hawaiian Oh wait ....there are no native Hawaiians left.
