How Puerto Ricans Feel About Tax Avoidance

Does the pursuit of economic recovery through Act 60 tax incentives come at the cost of the well-being and aspirations of the Puerto Rican people? Puerto Ricans see an undesirable future taking shape in terms of housing, cost of living, and economic opportunity.

On average the people who moved to Puerto Rico for the tax breaks pay about 100 times the Puerto Rican taxes as the native population. Plus, the majority of the tax incentives are available to all Puerto Ricans, not just the people who move there. For example all Puerto Ricans qualify for 4% tax on export earnings, which is the tax rate that brought most people to Puerto Rico.

Yet is the local government that created and imposed that law. Why not vote for candidates that oppose that law and want to change it?
