Are Puerto Ricans Second Class Citizens? 🇺🇸

- Second-class U.S. citizenship, as experienced by many Puerto Ricans, is a complex and historically rooted issue. Dating back to the late 19th century when the United States acquired Puerto Rico from Spain as a result of the Spanish-American War, the island's status within the U.S. has been a subject of contention. While Puerto Ricans are recognized as U.S. citizens, they lack full voting representation in Congress, cannot vote in presidential elections while residing on the island, and are excluded from certain federal benefits that mainland citizens enjoy. This unique and often unequal status has given rise to a sense of being treated as second-class citizens.
Over the years, Puerto Ricans have engaged in ongoing debates about their political status, with some advocating for statehood, others for independence, and some preferring the current territorial status. These discussions have highlighted the disparities in rights and opportunities faced by Puerto Ricans compared to their fellow U.S. citizens on the mainland. The struggle for equal treatment and representation continues, making the issue of second-class citizenship a central theme in the broader dialogue about Puerto Rico's political and social identity within the United States. - Розваги

If you feel that way then take back your home (island) and you'll be first class citizens in your own land.
Dumbo take back your island? You tell me how to do that? And now get a job and go back to school.
Lingers videos bro
Longer?
I did not know ppl from PR were this ignorant. The gentleman with the blue polo 2:41 is correct! Congratulations sir!!!
Correct about what? he didn’t explain anything. He just said that wasn’t his personal experience. Black and brown people are seen as second class citizens, that’s my personal experience.
@@onezero8162 One thing I Iearn in life is that you should not allow outside forces (the economy, the weather, my job, the government, stuff I hear, etc.) dictate your well being/attitude. "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent" Eleanor Roosevelt. I AM NOT a second class US citizen. I AM Independent, I AM NOT a Victim. I AM Capable. I AM Responsible. I AM Aware that my choices will affect my life. I Determine my future. That gentleman in the video seems to live life by those principles.
@@user-ij4dy6ni8n I have met and worked alongside incredibly hardworking people who simply because of their background and ethnicity were not able to move into higher earning positions. You can be all those things that you listed, but in the end if you don’t look, talk, or act a certain way (the white American way) then you are likely not going to be given as many opportunities. There is systemic oppression and discrimination embedded into our government, schools, and jobs. How often do you see CEOs that aren’t white?
He said what you wanted to hear, that's why.
Don't talk about dumb when US mainlander are poster boy/girl for ignorance. You even think America is just USA. You are the product of the USA failed education system you know nothing about the world around.
