Best of Oregon: Young River Falls
The waterfall along Young River 10 miles south of Astoria was first seen by Europeans during Vancouver’s expedition and then again 14 years later when members of Lewis and Clark’s Corps of Discover came across it while wintering at Fort Clatsop. The pool at the base of the 54 foot waterfall is a swimming hole during the summer months.

Drone footage of the red rock canyon with the Virgin River running through it. The uniquely steep river has 10 times as much elevation loss as the Colorado River that helped form the Grand Canyon. The Virgin River is a relatively small river, but it uses this unique force to cut through the sandstone and limestone to create the dramatic canyon.

The Chimney Bluffs on the New York shore of Lake Ontario began to form during the last ice age. Unique shaped hills were naturally erected from glacial till. Over time, wind, rain and snow worked on the hills until the chimneys were formed. The pinnacles have been formed for thousands of years, but with the forces of erosion they are constantly changing.
Best of South Carolina: Old Sheldon Church Ruin

First known as the Prince William’s Paris Church that was completed in 1753. The British burned down the church during the Revolutionary War. Nearly 100 years later General Sherman burned it down a second time near the end of the Civil War. The ruins are about 17 miles north of Beaufort, South Carolina.

A popular surfers beach and with hiking trails through a temperate rainforest, this state park is 7 miles south of Cannon Beach along the Oregon coast. There are two headlands that border the cove; Cape Falcon on the north and Neah-Kah-nie Mountain to the south.
