Best of Borneo: Kota Kinabalu

The state capital of Sabah, Malaysia, Kota Kinabalu faces the South China Sea. The island of Goya is just off shore and Kampong Gaya is on the eastern tip, which is a community with homes set on pillars resting above the water. The Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park is adjacent to the island and offers underwater experiences. Klias River is 60 miles south of the state capital and is the habitat for Proboscis Monkeys and other wildlife.
