  • About 95 percent of Key Biscayne is under water. The park preserves the reefs of Biscayne Bay. The park includes 270 square miles and is accessible near Homestead in South Florida. The northern section of the Florida Reef, one of the largest reefs in the world, is within park boundaries.
The Big Cypress National Preserve is a 700,000 acre tract of land established in 1974. Adjacent to Everglades National Park, this area allows Native American tribes to use the land to support themselves with tours and other enterprises.
