I taught myself to pick locks as a kid in the 70s and 80s. Recently, I dove back in with a fury and discovered an incredibly welcoming and supportive Locksport community!
This channel is my effort to give back to the community and those new to lock picking by sharing the knowledge that I've gained and continue to gain from others.

Absolutely, fantastic, thorough walk-through of how to decode the newer master lock combination padlocks! Thank You for the info. I’ve never took the time to try to learn to decode them properly. I have always just use the cheap disposable shims to bypass them open. But you sure have to bend them like crazy to get them past the new shielded wheels (why I use cheap disposables when bypassing).
You are very welcome! The newer locks with the tighter tolerances and the anti-shimming measures are buggers... I'm happy to help!
Thanks!
You are most welcome!
khi dùng công cụ mở được chốt ra mà lại không nhớ mật mã thì có cách nào đổi được mã xác nhận không. Tôi dò điểm khuyết như hình mà cũng không ra. cảm ơn!
No. If you bypass the lock, you cannot recode it. You need to decode the combination to recode it.
My Abus 83/45 came with a zero bitted Schlage keyway, and you can pin the 6th pin which comes with it, in like a little kit. You also have the option to make it key retaining or not with the little z bar , also in the kit.
Nice! I received this one in a care package of assorted locks, so it came as is. I might look into getting a new one with the package you mentioned.
Just found your channel...Great content, liked and subscribers🔐🔑🗝
Hey, thanks for the compliment and the sub!
I love the fact that you don't just address combing, but how it could be fixed by the companies! If only people would listen to it...
Thanks Jeff! I'm amazed that this hasn't been addressed. It's such a simple thing to fix!
Good information, but the intro is way too long. Best to get right to the point if you want to be more successful.
Hey, thanks for watching and commenting! I appreciate the feedback.
Great overview of how this lock works and how/why it can be decoded like this! Love this information, Pugs! Thank you!
Thanks Adam! If you wanna dip a foot in the world of combo locks, this is good model to tackle for a first foray.
@@pugspickslocks Thanks for the tip, Pugs At dome point I'd like to!
Good information
Thank you!
Great episide Pugs!! This shouldnt exist anymore! The comb picks from CI have some locks listed right on them that they work in and are designed in a way that you gont have to guess how to line them up with the pins! Great shout out for Parky as well! He's great!
Thanks, Adam! I actually don't have any tools from CI. I know they're popular, but I'm a creature of habit, I suppose, and they're the new kids on the block... Parky is a bad ass and an inspiration!
@@pugspickslocks I completely understand that! I like them myself, they were the first actual tools I was able to buy! And yes, Parky is indeed!
Give em hell, Pug!!!!
It's just a dose of truth... This exploit is so old and so easy to fix.
@@pugspickslocks 💯 agreement here.
Noob here. thought I was doing wrong by watching tv while picking. I have to use a vice though due to my one hand. great tips!
I give you mad respect for being able to pick locks with one-handed! You rock! With regards to picking in front of the TV, that's what I'm doing now! It's great practice and a way to develop touch and motor memory. Using a vise is absolutely legit. There are two handed pickers that throw every lock in a vise regardless of type. Keep picking!
Noob here. As for having eenough5 tools, you're right. I have about 7 different sets. Am currently working on a master 570. When I quit, I go to a brinks 640 to calm my nerves. my problem with the 570 is keeping the tok tension bar in the keyway as I can only use 1 finger.
The 570 is fun pick! I find easing up on the tension helps with feeling the feedback and keeping the TOK tensioners in place. It's a balance and I still pop the tensioner out on a regular basis...
Nicely explained and decoded. Good job with the carabiner, quite a bit of force is needed to feel that shackle move.😅
Thanks man! And yeah, with my arthritic hands, that carabiner was a must!
Nice information
Thank you! I appreciate you!
That was great Pugs! I still havent gotten into combination locks yet! Been interested but i dont really have the feel... I have a couple decoder tools, maybe ill start there! Thanks again!
Try a Master Lock 630D as a first go. I think you'll find it easy enough to open, while really learning what the gates feel like at the same time.
@@pugspickslocks Thanks for the tip Pugs! Gotta start somewhere!
Oh man I need to get or make a decoder! Very cool upload homie! Just what I needed😜👏👏🤘😎‼️
Thanks, man! I use gutting shims to make decoders.
Nice tutorial
Thank you!
Nicely explained and decoded. I agree the older and more worn a combination lock is, the harder it can be to open.
Thank you! And yeah... The worn locks give so much less distinct feedback.
Your instructions are clear and informative. Have the tools but wasn't sure of use. You cleared that up and I finally opened my first American 1100. Thanks.
Hey! Congrats on opening your first 1100! That's a great milestone!
are these the abus locks that come with a schlage sc4 keyway built in?
Some do. This lock is an SC4 keyway, but you can get them with cores that have Yale, Kwikset, Corbin, Sargent, Weiser, Abus, etc... keyways.
That was a great video Pugs! You did an amazing job, explaining and showing why that happens! This can be a slightly dangerous thing for pickers in some cases, I've had a brinks do this in the past but the driver was so short, the spring got caught in the shear line and damaged the lock! I've had a couple others as well do this without damage, thankfully! Thanks again for this wonderful video Pugs!
It's weird to find, huh? With spool pins, it can make the feedback tricky. This lock starts in a false set because pin one is the only non-spool. Trying to set pin one or two doesn't give counter-rotation. They can be tricky. I've not had the spring issue. I've never had a driver sit that low.
@pugspickslocks It is weird! I wouldn't have expected it on an abus lol. I only have had the spring issue on that one brinks, thankfully but I've had a couple other locks do this as well. I've heard the master 19 can have that problem as well and the spring can get caught.
I need a 19!
@@pugspickslocks I agree! 👍
Great video. I'm new to lock picking. I never would have thought about the driver pins being at the sheer line. I'm sure that lock would have frustrated me to no end!
Zero lift pins can even frustrate pockets with some experience. That's why Master Lock 410 LOTOs can be a trick; many have a zero lift. The thing about these is that if you're looking at the key. You'll see that they're really high cuts and try to lift them and then get confused by the feedback from the lock. You start out in a false set, and pins 1 & 2 give no counter rotation. Very confusing lock, but very fun pick!
Man do I need to get this lock! Hey great walk threw on this model 72 abus👏👏👏🤘😎. Have a ruko that actually has first pin so low ya can skip it and open with 5 pin pick. Blows my mind🤷🏼. Have tried so hard to get to work. It wont even overset😳🙄😝
These locks are fun little picks! Zero lift pins can be confusing. You feel like they need to be picked, but they won't set... Normally it's a low lift like you describe on your ruko, but sometimes they're a high lift like this lock. Weird.
Great presentation 🙏
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!
Perfect. About to order one and try to tackle. Need the research here!
I'm glad this was timely for you! They're a fun little pick!

@@pugspickslocks And it shows in an excellent way.
Thank you!
Very nice. And I don't think I've mentioned it, but I love that extra camera view!!
I'm glad you appreciate it! Since I prefer picking in hand and often end up obscuring the keyway, I figgered a second angle might help.
That was a great video Pugs! Very informative! Thank you very much! Certainly well used, aged locks pick much different than new ones! I always recommend to new pickers to use a new lock when starting out so they can get a feel for it before trying to pick used ones!
Locks truly do pick differently over time, especially if they're in active use. They can get gritty (which I forgot to really highlight), and the pins/chambers can get worn out spec. Your advice to newbies to get new locks is sound advice!
@@pugspickslocks I have a few very well worn in locks that must have been used a lot! Low tolerances and standard pins but i'd swear there's 12 serrations on each pin lmao! So hard to pick, very gritty!
Exactly!
Great video brothe very informative 👍 ❤
