Worked like a champ! Found a locked 175 in an old toolbox. Took a minute to get the shape of the tool right (used folded soda can wall, tapped it flatter using small hammer) and get used to what I was feeling (you can feel the tamper wheel for sure). Once in position it was as you described. I about fell out of my chair when the lock popped open. I had already gotten a reset key from Ebay so putting in a new combination was super easy. It is now reset and back in service. THANK YOU!
my dad left me a 175 in his tool box , this week I needed a lock the 175 was the only one I could find but it was locked and I did not remember the combo I still have the reset key, thanks to you I can use my dad's old lock
Absolutely, fantastic, thorough walk-through of how to decode the newer master lock combination padlocks! Thank You for the info. I’ve never took the time to try to learn to decode them properly. I have always just use the cheap disposable shims to bypass them open. But you sure have to bend them like crazy to get them past the new shielded wheels (why I use cheap disposables when bypassing).
Thanks, Nick! Even with as much grief as Master Lock gets, I think they are trying. At the end of the day, though, most locks are there to keep honest people honest.
@@pugspickslocks Indeed, I entirely agree. And as for those who slate Masterlock, how many have opened a Masterlock 19??? not many...not all master locks are bad. The lotos have a great keyway too. Way more challenging than an abus LOTO
Thanks for perhaps the best video overall on this subject. I have a brand new out of package 175D. I set 0-0-0-0 and the latch wouldn't open. Following your procedures with an aluminum can decoder tool, I confirmed 0-0-0-0 is correct. I guess I have a defective lock? Any recommendations (other than return to store)?
Hey... You try pushing down on the shackle? Set the combo, and then push down on the shackle and let the spring pop it back up. And thank you! I appreciate the comment!
@pugspickslocks There is still possibility my decoding procedure is in error no matter how many times attempted. Would manual bypass to open the shackle allow me to use the included key reset tool to enter a new combo? Problem tho, I don't have a bypass tool and not worth my time and $ to buy one.
khi dùng công cụ mở được chốt ra mà lại không nhớ mật mã thì có cách nào đổi được mã xác nhận không. Tôi dò điểm khuyết như hình mà cũng không ra. cảm ơn!
I just used a piece of a Mtn D can to open a 175 that I found in the street 15 years ago, using your video!!! It’s been hanging in my garage and I’d get it down every once in awhile and try different combos, with no luck. I came across your video a few minutes ago and BAM! It’s a usable lock now! Thank you for posting!

Yay! I'm glad you were able to make your own tool and get it open! It's so cool that you were able to feel the components within the lock!

That makes me really happy to hear! I'm glad I was able to help you out!
It’s so good to see your videos again! This was a fun one ☺️
Thank you!
Great demonstrations on the 175. I learned a lot from this video👍🦊
Thank you! I'm glad the video helped you!
Finally, I've been looking for this info for almost a year! Thank you!
I'm so happy that this video is what you needed!
Thanks a lot, found two 175 padlocks, I tried for hours but thanks to your video and patience I got two usable padlocks with new combination
That's awesome! I'm glad you were able to recode them and make them usable!
Hey man, great video. Thank you for the shout out.
Thank you! And my pleasure on the shoutout... you def' deserve it!
Thank you it was the bend in the decoder that was the breakthrough!
I'm glad the tip worked for you!

You are very welcome! The newer locks with the tighter tolerances and the anti-shimming measures are buggers... I'm happy to help!
Great explanation maye. It's good to know the lock manufacturers listen amd make improvements 😊. Have a great week pugs 👍🤜🤛

Master Lock LOTOs are fun to pick! I find the PacLoc LOTOs more of a challenge. Haven't tried the Abus yet.
Great vid. These new 175s are more challenging
Thank you! And, yeah... The new 175s have way betterer tolerances, and it felt like some anti-bypass shielding, too.
Very nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video. Subscribed.
Hey! I appreciate that! Thank you!

@pugspickslocks
Ya, I've got two of these. The 1st one, set 0s, then push down shakle to spring it open.
Hm... If it isn't opening, either defective or not all zeroes. I'd have to play with it to tell.

No, unfortunately bypassing will open the shackle, but the code wheels have to be properly aligned to change the combination.
love the video. I still can not pick my 175.
Are you able to slip a decoder between the dials?
Great information!!!😀🐈⬛🐾🐈🐾👍
Thanks, Chris!

No. If you bypass the lock, you cannot recode it. You need to decode the combination to recode it.
Gave up and threw it at the ground and it opened
HAH!! Yes, they can def be bumped open. Impact at the correct angle will move the locking arm/plate/thingy enough to let it open.

Joke😂
LOL!
Suggestion: get to the point. Rambling is bad.
I totally get that my longer form videos aren't for everyone. I take zero offense if they're not for you and you feel you need to skip them.
