So many good tips pugs mate. Trucking lock did a great vid on tensioners and LPL did a great one avout listening to serrated pins instead if looking. Great tips! I'm trying to develop more consistency in my picking as I'm relatively new to locksport. Sometimes, a lock opens with ease. Other times, I get really frustrated and have to put things down. I've gotten better at locating pins by using a rounded short hook rather than a flat one but I still have trouble with tensioning.

Hey thanks for the sub! Taking regular breaks from frustrating locks is def' a good thing. I use comfort locks for this purpose. I'd I get stuck on a difficult lock, I'll grab a few locks I know really well and just pick them a few times.
I hear you on the rounded top giving you a better feel for on spacing. Maybe try a small half diamond pick to see if that gives you an even betterer feel. I use the pagoda hook on almost every lock because it gives me the best sense of the pins.

Closing your eyes is a great suggestion. I often close my eyes when I’m picking to imagine what my pick is doing inside the lock. My hands are jacked up from nerve damage and arthritis. But I have more success with my eyes closed.
Thanks! I don't have your nerve damage, but I struggle with psoriatic arthritis and osteoarthritis. That might one of the reasons for preferring lighter tension. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who picks with their eyes closed! It really does help to "see" what's going on with the lock!
@@pugspickslocks I think my wife may secretly believe that I’m praying/wishing the lock will open when she sees me picking. She’s never said anything, but I can feel the judgement eyes on me. 😂
