Yay! I'm so glad you were able to get it! Not everyone develops the touch and feel for it right off!
On the original padlocks marked "Made in USA" and Milwaukee W1, the method of finding the first number will not work. This method will only work on the non "branded" padlocks made in Mexico. On the Mexican made padlocks, the external drive pin on the first number wheel will contact the shackle retainer plate, when pulling up on the shackle, thus allowing you to calculate the first number. On the original padlocks this external drive pin is not there, and not needed, thus no contact is felt with the shackle retainer. To reduce costs they have produced wheels 1 and 2 the same, wheel 2 needs two drive pins, but wheel one needs only 1 drive pin and not an external one that contacts the retainer plate.
