    3:44:20 *Acron, Attack of the Squirrels* is a very cool VR <-> Mobile device game. I wonder if it could be used to give a momentary experience of VR for someone new to VR. no motion sickness, interesting interaction, relating and playing with others. Thoughts?

    1:20:05 I'd like how it actually shows the number of times you died (2) vs the leader with 3.5x more but less kills relative to you. To me it seems that yours is the smarter gameplay. I'd like to see scoreboards acknowledging that. Pop one battle Royale doesn't and I find it annoying that my son gets distracted (my opinion) by kills and doesn't track his death rate relative to kills... A figure like kills/death yours = 4. Other guy 3.3. I'd rather have the higher skill/strategy player on my team. I know people like different game mechanics ... Any suggestions for better multiplayer strategic games?

    16:55 I both appreciate your sharing and the insight into your inner world. For what it is worth, while I find your voice pleasant to listen to, it is the consideration and explanation of HOW you come to your conclusions/posits that leads me to wanting to continue to listen. Ironically, it is the depth of what you say, not of your voice, that leads me to want to keep listening/watching. Thank you for your contributions to the VR community.

    14:10 as a person who stutters sometimes, I totally relate to hyper focus on speech. Sorry to hear, it can make things more challenging... Fyi, one of my most prominent memories of this is when I was a teenager and setting up setting up an answering machine for my family. I loved the tech but the message creation was terrible. The first attempt was bad and then each subsequent recording was ever worse attention to my voice getting great and greater. I think I ended up giving up with despair I couldn't finish the task.

    I feel the VRIK and immersion is very cheap in VAIL. The NFT push was highly suspect as well. If the VRIK had ever actually been polished, then customization might have been more worth looking at.

    I personally would also add the game Genotype. I think it has good graphics, a decent single player campaign, and imo it doesn't have the usual jank that we see in most VR games. I also like the approach that you need to manage your supply of "ammunition" like in older RE games. Although it's not great and the environment becomes somewhat repetitive, it is a good game to try imo given that the list of VR games with good singleplayer campaigs is unfortunately extremely small.

    Honestly I noticed this in the quest store. Every game has incredible reviews. Every game is the pinnacle of vr and an all time favorite game. I remember reading through the reviews on project demigod and thinking to myself "we saw the same trailer right? It looks more like a proof of concept then an actual game"

    It’s a small community. Not big enough for the big outlets to spend much time or attention. Since the devs are also smaller teams than it all becomes so easy for relationships to form. Someone’s bottom line can be hurt by saying what they actually feel. If VR gets bigger this will naturally fix itself.

    70% of the "goodness" of any multiplayer game is determined by the people you play with. They can make a bad game seem good or a good game seem bad. I haven't personally experienced much of this so-called toxically positive hype because I'm not chasing after the current fad games and I start out my purchase decisions with knowing my personal likes and dislikes and then evaluate how much what bothers others about the game will bother me.

    If your looking for a good quality standalone vr game id try Dungeons of Eternity. It's a co-op fantasy dungeon delving game using procedurly generated dungeons. The game does a ton right and the only flaw I can think of is that it could use some more content even though there's 3 different game modes. The devs are constantly making updates to the game tho so it's a matter of time till that's fixed

    when i hop in a vr game, its because i want to actually do something physical, as the character i am playing as does. when we have hand holdy mechanics like objects meant for throwing being given a boost in velocity upon leaving the hand, we take a tiny, tiny step backwards that will eventually add up and snowball us back to flatscreen mechanics. Things like hud and small presses of buttons on controllers are lazy and add to that snowball, not to mention inhibit the developer's ability since now that they put something that could've been a motion control is now just a button, it takes up a button on an already (most likely by design) limited controller. We need more motion controls, we need gun interactions to be much less lenient, we need things we do to be unique motion controls. Stop it with the point and click menus, stop it with the extreme leniency, stop it with buttons. Make me do the action, otherwise why am i playing vr in the first place?

    stride fates was overhyped and a huge disappointment. it released unfinished with early access being stated no where i could see, as a full length campaign game. stride was better, it didnt overstep its scope and is therefore, doing exactly what its trying to. vr parkour. stride fates tried to take stride and give it a campaign, but failed to do so miserably. only a few months after launch they added things that shouldve been there at launch, such as proper mag out then new one in reloads.

    The only way what your suggesting is possible is this everybody is using a catwalk or some sort of VR treadmill even if you have an entire empty room to set up for room scale on PS VR2, Yes it works great and I can move my body around the play space to duck behind cover or pop out from cover without using the joysticks for movement or rotation which feels great but you can only do this within the bounds of that room and you can't see the real world space around you so you're eventually going to run out of space walk into your wall essentially after turn your body 180° around and rotate the camera with the stick so that now you can still proceed to walk forward within the game world in the same direction that you were going by walking the other direction within the room that you are in and there is no way to keep track of your orientation and position within the real world room I just don't see people being able utilize the actual ability to move our body position in order to move within the game world unless we are on a stationary treadmill where we don't have to worry about walking into our walls and reorientating ourselves within our room

    I recently bought Guardians Frontline (think helldivers meets halo) and my goodness the aim asist is egregious in that game. You point the gun in the general direction of a bug and it'll die. Combine that with the fact that the guns have 0 phantom weight so they are far from stabilized. I basicly run around dual wielding machine guns cus there not much benefit to using sights. I still like the game tho its really fun.

    Here’s a VR topic I think is worth discussing: A while ago I started to feel pain in my bicep and it kept increasing, I tried physiotherapy for months but to no benefit, finally I noticed that the pain goes when I just relax my arm and stop exercising it, and after some time I found that the pain came back after playing certain VR games. They are these types of games that require strong downward movements of your arm (example: Gorilla tag, Outta hand, no more rainbows, etc…); games where you have to move and jump by using your arms only. It’s unnatural and might lead many players to health problems. After stopping playing these games, my bicep completely recovered. Eventually, I believe it is bad for the VR industry if it will lead many players to similar experiences as mine. I’m sure there are other types of games that require unnatural movements that may lead to health problems.

    • @SkyYukiGuy
      @SkyYukiGuy 6 днів тому

      It might mean you played too often. It similar to exercise, if you do it extremely hard every day eventually you will break. The more pain point for majority of players would be headset weight and game that requires insanely fast neck movement. Especailly one that requires you to look up or down frequently (Population One, Contractors Showdown, Brazen Blaze, etc) Looking up or down is unnatural in VR because you have huge weight strap to your face. There has been POP1 player neck broken because of fast movement it requires. Mr VR Voice has made a great point on this already with the video: "How a VR Shooter Should Play"

    • @aSHTEBALA
      @aSHTEBALA 5 днів тому

      @@SkyYukiGuy I wasn’t playing too often, I couldn’t actually because of the quest’s battery, and I never play more than once a day, but the play session itself was vigorous. I was playing Outta hand and in that game you need to jump with your hand, and then you need to flap your arms like a bird to do multiple air jumps. Moreover, the game had some hidden collectibles that require difficult challenge jumps and platforming, I died a lot trying to get it so I had to excessively repeat that movement to reach these areas.

    Remember, these games weren't made for us, these games were made for children that some how have VR headsets. I don't care for any title launched on quest at this point cause it's not made for someone like me, it's for the kiddos that main gorilla tag and GOT, when they're not in VR its fortnite and warzone.

    To every VR dev, play HL2 on PC, then play it in VR. Take notes. Kinda sad that a VR mod for a game that came out in 2006 is waaaaayyyy better than most VR titles. I love VR, but seriously most of the games suck. GOT, BAS, Zenith, they're not that good, honestly mostly bad, but there's zero competition so they're "good".

    I've played some of red matter 2. It's below average in so many ways. When viewed as a graphically very average 2024 game (nowhere near fidelity levels of modern flat games such as calisto protocol) with distinctly average puzzles that just require you to just find hidden things, a sci-fi story that makes no effort to incorporate anything scientific. E.g. the tiny one button spaceship that is somehow going to take you from the moon to Saturn. Coming into land on Saturn's orbiting asteroid station with no thought for horizontal velocity. Environments that just reuse assets with no consistent idea of why those giant pipes are there on one side of a door but not on the other. The puzzles are just barriers and make no sense in the overall structure of the narrative. Example, Why is there an RC airship with a flamethrower on it here? Because you have to control it to set off a fire alarm to solve a closed door puzzle, silly! And RC vehicles are fun right? How do you set off the fire alarm? You have to set *3* fires. I mean it just makes no sense. Why is there an infinite repeating corridor maze here? Are you gassed or hallucinating or low on oxygen or something? No. It's because it's a puzzle, right? Can you take objects from one save point to another? No. Can you find useful objects to do interactions with, like maybe carry some oxygen you think might be useful later, no. It is basically a series of poorly executed one solution find an object escape rooms with little to no thought of how those should fit into the environment of the game or the story. Interspersed with pretty vistas and reflections to make people go, oh a reflection! Oh a skybox! This is such a good game then? No. The polish is literally surface level. Even the Lauded physical interaction is a cheat, because you are separated from it by your claw hands that you only nominally control. It's a parlour trick. If you like spacey skyboxes you might enjoy it. Some of the worst parkour in any game I've played, with no way of grabbing any physical surface you feel very disabled as your ineffectual scrabbling at the edge of a platform you missed in a low gravity environment has no effect whatsoever on the physics of your character. Red matter 2 is possibly the worst case of overhype I have ever seen in VR gaming. No I haven't finished it. Maybe it somehow comes together I some incredibly clever way in the end, but I doubt it! Anyway, well done on dazzling everyone with your shiny surfaces. ❤ (That dont reflect your character model)
