Interesting Upcoming PCVR Games - Oct/Nov 2023

Thanks for trying our demo and thank you for the kind words! When we started developing Bootstrap Island we wanted to push the VR medium forward and to do that we are making a game that simply isn't possible on mobile hardware. Optimization is one of our top priorities and since publishing the demo we have already made improvements, so that every PCVR user can see what the medium is capable of.

Unfortunately our game is not coming out this year. We realized that we really wanted to expand and polish our game even more, so we moved our release date to Q2 2024. And considering all the feedback we've been getting from the players, we still have a lot of work to do 😅

Loved this video! I'm definitely going to pick up the first two... Not sure about the third. I agree with all the points on it though, it looks well made and good for beginners but a tough sell for VR veterans. The last one definitely looks interesting too... might have to try that one bore buying. Thanks for the video!

The Demo isn't coming out until the end of the month, but ArcSine is one to look at for a future title to play. Might not be totally up your alley - it's a high speed plaltformer with lots of flinging yourself around, but not much in the way of interactions. But definitely worth checking out.

I've had Bottstrap Island on my wishlist for a while, I only like survival games where there's a story involved and this looks like it could meet my expectations. Though the performance issues would need to be ironed out, and we all know how often that actually happens by release...

Yes, high quality mechanics marred by demanding performance and messy visuals. It’s the first VR game I’ve tried that left me with sore eyes and a headache, and you know me, not sensitive at all. I hope they can find a way to clean the visuals up down the line.

Thank you for this. That's 3 more VR games to check out this fall than i was planning to, which was none. Honestly speaking i have stopped browsing through new VR releases on steam because every time i come back disappointed. But watching this i know i can trust your judgement and it's nice knowing that there's something to look forward to. Cheers.

I know that feeling very well, seeing the steady stream of pure low effort jank vomited onto the storefront by TimmyDev and his Unity engine asset flips is often very disheartening for me. But, it’s my job to sift through them.
I’ll try and make this video topic a more regular one on the channel to share the few higher quality and genuinely interesting ones.

The Burst to me is what you would get if you put STRIDE VR into a blender with RAGE then throw in the 'leash' from Bulletstorm. I am excited to play this game on release. I loved the demo. My only gripe with the game was the vehicle controls. They were VERY touchy and required both hands on the handlebars otherwise it would send you off in the road/path. Also, to turn the bike, you had to rely on either smooth turn or physical turn which does not feel right in a vehicle.
I didn't expect myself to like Liminal Phase much. The graphics were VERY primitive (going for that PS1/early PC era horror style). I enjoyed it. However, as I communicated with the dev, I felt the VR interactions to be lacking a bit and the movement was quite slow and needed to be boosted a tad. Looking forward to the release!
Probably my most anticipated game of the bunch is Bootstrap Island. This game definitely impressed me in terms of VR interaction and survival gameplay. The graphics looked great, however I did not notice the foliage issue you were having, but I didn't really explore in-land, only the beach. This will be a day 1 purchase for me.

I had no idea it was released before, and that makes sense why it ran so smooth. Looks very acceptable detail-wise though, and my feelings on it being a good introduction to VR remain.
