Nice selections Rob. I had a nice experience the other day. Got the strokes is this it and beach boys surfer girl. Not sure they meet the 10 track criteria but got home and listened to them in both in less than an hour. Made me appreciate single lp albums so much more

I watched this on my TV ages ago and am finally getting around to commenting! I wouldn't say the best have 10 tracks, but I think the classic single LP format has 10 tracks, 5 on each side. I usually comment on that when I do my new release round-ups. I noticed in 2023 that a far greater proportion of LPs had 10 tracks, sometimes 11, compared to 2022 when there were more short doubles. I reckon in 2022 they were still mostly producing c60min CD length records and then converting to vinyl as a double. Whereas in 2023 the standard had shifted to the single vinyl Lp as being the benchmark. Interesting video, Rob, and nice mix of records. Cheers

One of the ways in which I found CDs to be disappointing was the length. Sometimes, the albums were simply way too long. I thnk you are right, at least about the records I am familiar with in this video!

I agree for pop / rock music! But for the jazz fans a whole side of a great album could be 1 song. Cool video! Thanks for sharing!

I was just listening to an album I really love - a 2023 release - last night and thinking that I enjoy every song. A quick confirmation showed ten tracks. Next time I opened UA-cam, your video came up at the top of the heap for recommended videos. Coincidence?!

Hi Rob, i think 10 tracks is almost the perfect number of track but obviously there are glaring exceptions to that rule. i used to have a bit of a beef with the advent of compact disks and every artist thought they had to utilise the full 70+ minutes thus getting a lot of substandard tracks or filler on their albums (technically making every album a double album) . great little video though - Lloyd

Doesn't hold weight Rob, there were too many great Beatles albums with 14 tracks back in the sixties.😜 Fun video though. There are some monster 10-trackers including Approved by the Motors which is possibly my favourite album of all time. I think AC/DC have always done 10-track albums throughout their career. Are you seeing Martin MacAloon when he supports Thomas Dolby at the Ritz in Manchester later this year? I'll be there.

Some great choices Rob, although there are plenty of albums around 40 min running time that have more than 10 tracks and have no filler..Sheer Heart Attack by Queen being a classic example..13 songs and every one is killer ( Queen)..😂

Early copies of new boots had an extra track. But my sisters album and mine are just 10 tracks .

Great video rob two albums that spring to mind of no fillers with 10 tracks will you accept 9 tracks regarding rattus norvegicus from the stranglers and a perfect 10 track album power in the darkness Tom Robinson band

To be honest Rob,I never really payed a great deal of attention to an albums track count. If an album had a load of tracks on it then that was good value for money to me. I've got the first two you showed and I think "The Sound Of The Crowd" is my fave tune on Dare 👍 Joanne from The Human League was a bit of alright 👍😁👍

what was the phrase? all killer, no filler? the scourge of CDs brought us the opposite. bonus tracks that were previously unreleased for a reason. then you've got The Ramones - 10 tracks on each side!

Depends how long the songs are.beatles lps uk had 14tracks but lasted 30 minutes ish.later lps had ten tracks but longer songs.then is quality more important than song length

Good picks, Rob. Nice to see some SFA love. Something For The Weekend is the original UK version, which they swapped out for the US version on the reissue. Kliph Scurlock (drummer for Gruff, ex Flaming Lips) who has been doing these reissues wanted the original UK mix on the reissue, but the band nixed that - so he sneaked it on the RSD release instead. Also, if anyone missed out on Osmium and don't want to pay flipper prices - it was released a few years ago in the UK on Demon - 1 disc without bonus tracks - I think it's still possible to pick it up cheaply.

I recently heard the Jam practiced here just down the road and Paul Weller did just the other Sunday too. I've still got my Northside album and 12"s they didn't quite make it did they? That Temples cover art I've seen elsewhere it's like a folly and a secret hidden message of Catholic faith when it was illegal here. Fact of the day there for you Rob.

I forgot about that Human League LP. I used to have it on cassette but it went gonzo. One of my favs is Can’t Buy a Thrill from Steely Dan. 10 tracks and no fillers.

Hey Rob, lots of nice buys there. Not heard that Parliament album, but looks very cool… cracking cover. SFA, Temples and that blast from the past Northside. When I was in high school, I had to write a comparative essay and did mine on the difference between LSD songs from different generations: Lucy In the Sky with Diamonds and Shall We Take A Trip. My teacher wasn’t impressed.

Oh I haven't listened Police's vinyls for some time. I should! To make they aren't close to 100. This was fun thread to do. My biggest find was that I need to listen more so many of my albums! :D mr. Finglish (Bäd English Recs)

Very cool. Were theses mostly UK exclusives ? Because I only seen the Parliament vinyl in Chicago. We did see a few UK exclusive Soundtracks because we have 3 Reckless Records here but that was it.
