Hi rob great 20 albums have to agree with you on slowdive album I’ve played it so many times and its always one i play on the bus when im going record hunting and that noel Gallagher council skies surprised me how much i love it played the hell out of it when got it first and returned to it last week and its still excellent. Must check out beach fossils and been tempted to get yo la tango one . Im picking up the squid Friday don’t know why i never got on release as loved the first one been following them since beginning. Ive bought 45 new studio albums last year alot of your ones . Blur was so good to loved the Sunday Wembley gig i went too with my son alex and paul weller on just before blur amazing night. Hi Rob. Nice summaries of these albums - especially useful for me with some of the debut releases ... I saw Sparklehorse live in the 1990's. I must explore 'Bird Machine' ... Corinne Bailey Rae is an incredible talent. She has definitely followed her own creative path ... I paused the video to listen to Far Caspian. Excellent! Especially the live in the studio videos with a band. I'm getting tingles down my spine.

I love the XX, so I'll have to check out Romy's record. YLT was a highlight for me too. That is so cool to see you picked up Melbourme's own Flyying Colours record. Sparklehorse is another fav of mine. I was a big fan of the old stuff, all of which I have on cd. Would be great to see a vinyl reissue series. I lost interest in the National since High Violet, but have seen a lot of people show the two new ones which has reignited my curiosity. It was a very strong year for music coming from the UK. Your number one is one of my most listened to record of last year. It's an absolute beauty. Cheers...Ben

Hi Rob - Everything Is Alive by Slowdive was my favourite album by far of 2023. Norwich have been in good form recently & hoping they make the play-off for promotion ! It's going to be a dramatic year with elections in both your country & the USA.

We definitely have some overlap. I played that Beach Fossils albums a lot when it came out; same with Blondeshell. Yo La Tengo's This Stupid World, Slowdive. However, what made me circle back to this video after 3 weeks is...I was trying to figure out which VC channel influenced my one purchase yesterday. Was it The Digital Gramophone? Was it The Vinyl Douche?? Nope. It was Rob Walker's best of 2023 video. I had an appointment downtown and so afterwards, I stopped by my go to indie shop. I went through the entire 'used' New Arrivals and thought I would be leaving empty handed, but then I came across a Near Mint copy of Far Caspian - The Last Remaining Light. I had been recently streaming it off of my phone after watching this video and it was growing on me, so when I spotted it for $15 CAD, I brought it home. Listening now 🎶🎵. I thought you'd like to know that the "butterfly effect" of your top albums of 2023 led to an addition in my collection. Cheers!

I like that Slowdive album a lot too. Just heard it for the first time a few days ago. Don't know Roisin Murphy but I looked up her controversy - I'm with her on that too. My wife's sister's son wants to get on puberty blockers. Huge mistake. You can change your sex if you want, but you've got to go through puberty or you'll totally mess up your biology... anyway. I like that Beach Fossils album too. I listened to that last summer and enjoyed it but never went back to it. Lots of good stuff this year

Hey Rob - i feel like a student cramming for their exam finals! I’m trying to listen to all these albums as quickly as possible to see if they are all as good as they seem on first/second listen. The three stand out picks to begin with are Blondshell, The Slow Show and Reverend and The Makers. I’ll keep listening but am leaving the top 3 until I’ve got time to really concentrate on them. Great to hear you support the independent record stores. Ordering online doesn’t have the same feel as browsing through shelves of vinyl!!

Hi generally I buy them from an independent record shop in Bury called wax and beans I mention bens shop in my vinyl tag video. Occasionally I also buy from Piccadilly records which is in Manchester

Hey Rob - i feel like a student cramming for their exam finals! I’m trying to listen to all these albums as quickly as possible to see if they are all as good as they seem on first/second listen. The three stand out picks to begin with are Blondshell, The Slow Show and Reverend and The Makers. I’ll keep listening but am leaving the top 3 until I’ve got time to really concentrate on them.
Great to hear you support the independent record stores. Ordering online doesn’t have the same feel as browsing through shelves of vinyl!!
Lots of great albums to stream Rob. Didn’t buy any new releases from 2023 🫤🫤. Will have to rectify that in 2024, but maybe not 20 of them 😁. Cheers.
