Hi mike thanks for jumping on that decades thread I need to leave you a comment.. I know you’ve a small mountain of CDs I enjoyed the challenge of choosing 10 CDs to show .. thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Hi George I know you’ve a few I’d like. I just have to be patient the debuts by everything everything and friendly fires are being reissued this month .. so that will keep me happy for a while . Thanks for watching 👍
Thanks for sharing Yea I would love Pretenders Loose Screw released on vinyl It also has You Know Who Your Friends Are - great track A updated Pretenders/ Chrissie Hynde best (The Singles) on vinyl would be awesome to. Anyway new album Relentless getting vinyl release in Sept to look forward to. Again thanks for interesting video
I’m gonna do this thread, Rob, and you’ve picked 3 or4 of my choices. Hawley, Weller, SuperFurries, all need reissues on vinyl. I have the Manics on record - picked it up when it came out, so paid about 15 quid rather than the 200 quid that it now goes for. Excellent list!
Hi John it’s a fun idea by mazzy it’s a question that gets asked from time to time and it gets you wishing you’d bought vinyl in the late 90s and 00s … things like the Terry hall debut is a good example but I believe it’s not the best sounding. the nick heywood album from Monday to Sunday from 93 would be a welcome reissue.. I look forward to seeing your choices John 👍
I've never heard of Richard hawley either. I love Pulp. Their last three albums I'd love to have on vinyl. They're pretty easy to find, reissued pretty recently...
Hi Chris. I wasn’t sure how well known Richard was in America. Come to think of it I’ve never heard him being mentioned by anyone from the states before
Great selection Rob and several there I'd like reissued/issued too. I was lucky to snag the reissue of Coles Corner a few years ago - a treasure of an album. I just picked-up reissues of his first two releases too as Rough Trade seem to be putting out his albums on limited presses in dribs and drabs, so I'll be keeping an eye on that. Cheers Dale
Hi dale I was in my local record shop today and they had lots of Richard hawley albums for £26.99 but I saw other things I wanted I’ll probably regret that but they didn’t have Cole’s corner .. thanks for watching dale 👍
Good selection Rob. I haven't heard that Bryan Ferry album so will check it out. My old band used to rehearse at Yellow Arch studios in Sheffield and we'd see Richard Hawley down there sometimes.
Hi James someone in the comments has mentioned that Bryan ferry album is getting reissued in the autumn .. Richard seems really down to earth when I’ve seen him interviewed. Thanks for watching James 👍
Hi Rob, I’ve also only got Quarry on cd. I saw Morrissey at Portsmouth Guildhall the other day. He opened with How Soon Is Now? omg, hairs on the back of your neck, it was breathtaking. I haven’t got that Tears for Fears at all yet (Roland’s a Portsmouth boy), I must get it, it sounds great. I also love Richard Ashcroft. Now Loose Screw, that’s an album I’ve been after for ages because it’s produced by Kevin Bacon of The Comsat Angels. The Pretenders gave a new album out later this year. Great video, good idea. Thanks Rob. Mike
Hi mike I’ve seen clips of morrissey doing how soon is now .. he looks on good form .. as I said I love that tears for fears album I think it’s far superior to the tipping point which was the critics choice last year .. thanks for watching and commenting mike👍
Hey Rob - Norwich - Southampton with an epic battle. I need LP's of the first two Richard Ashcroft albums & The Beach ⛱️ soundtrack or the UNKLE record with Lonely Soul. The ladies are bringing it home 🏆.
Generally I wait for a special release when doubling up. I also go the other way sometimes. I do play digital but it's nice to have a physical copy you can just chuck on with out having to flip it over.
Hi Rob. Lots of your picks I’d agree with, particularly the beautiful south’s superbi, and all of their albums/Heaton solo albums from that era, he said on Twitter a few years back there’s just not the demand to press them but I disagree. I’m holding out for a Studio 150 reissue, have every other Weller album but that one on vinyl but can’t justify the prices it goes for
Hi Ross I also want live wood as well as, as is now he will probably reissue heliocentric just to be awkward. I’m sure gaze and superbi would sell out pretty quickly ross let’s hope it happens soon .. thanks for watching 👍
I'll have to check out that Tears for Fears album. I've never seen that before. All I really know by them is their first three (I think) - The Big Chair, the one with the little kid crying on the cover, and the Seeds of Love.
Hi .. you’re not alone I think it slipped under the radar for many people .. if you like sowing the seeds of love I’m sure you’d enjoy that tears for fears album.. thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Hi 👋 I viewing from New Zealand. I like Paul Weller alot. I was into the Jam and Style Council , so he is a favorite musician of mine. I own the same cd as you have , and he covers songs well on it. I had the Jams album from 1980 titled Sound Effects. I bought it because I liked the single lifted off called That's Entertainment. I like Bryan Ferry, and I owned his solo albums Let's Stick Together, In your Mind , and The bride stripped Bare from the seventies. Also his 1980s album Boys & Girls is good. Roxy Music are a cool group that he fronted and i got into back in the 1970s.
Hi the jam are my favourite band I was fortunate to see them live in 1982 just before they split up I’ve also seen style council live a few times and paul weller solo about 7 times so yeah I like him 😀. Roxy music and Bryan ferry are also big favourites though I’ve never see him in concert. Thanks for watching and commenting it’s appreciated 👍
@@robwalkerletthemusicplay Did you like the Punk scene ?. I did , my favorite band is the Damned. I saw John Lydon with PIL in the 1980s. They are still going with a new record release.
@@carltwidle9046 I was 14 in 78 so I loved new wave /punk. I saw the dammed in 1980 supported by the uk subs it was crazy. I’ve never seen public image. I’m a fan though
Some great wishes there. Morrissey of course. I have the Everything must go vinyl box set but managed to snooze and lose when they released This is my truth, I got the deluxe CD but waited too long to get the vinyl and now they are so expensive! Super Furry Animals, can hardly wait but we jus have to wait I suppose? Phantom Power is only two weeks away and I am so happy. I actually got the Rings Around the World and Phantom Power 5.1 surround DVD’s not that long ago? Really nice price as well! That Hawley album will cost you on vinyl yeah… 😳 I LOVE Beautiful South! Miss them dearly. Felt like I was the only one in Norway who listened to them.
Hi Morton I could easily have shown this is my truth it’s brilliant. Yes I imagine love Kraft will be released before hey Venus . I Love the beautiful south the album before it gaze would also be a welcome vinyl release . It can be frustrating when albums like rage in Eden by ultravox get reissued when you can get that in the uk for about £7. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
@@robwalkerletthemusicplay those are all truths 😊 Gaze I remember buying in the UK, HMV in Peterborough. Went there a lot, friends with an American/British couple who lived there a while, would always hit their HMV shops get s Costas latye and sit and admire the cathedral.
Totally agree with the mozza one. It (and all the others this milennium) was due to be re-released but he parted company with etienne record label. They cited looking for more "diverse" artists as the reason. Unfortunately that diversity didn't have room for Stephen Patrick, although he does havd a reputationof falling out with everyone....I'm also after the manics "lifeblood" 2006- very rare on vinyl.
Manic Street Preachers are one band I wish I'd followed more closely. I have Generation Terrorists on cd and a copy of you love us on 7" single. Interesting thread response Rob 👍👍👍
Fun to watch. I have that Weller cd too and it's great. Surprised that all the cds you've featured aren't available in vinyl format. Perhaps a matter of time before they come out on RSD?
Hi … some are available on vinyl but are expensive. Eventually they will get reissued I just have to be patient .. thanks for watching and commenting 👍. I was talking to Norman mazlov about your channel on a live stream earlier this week. We agreed you have a great channel 👍
Couldn't agree more that vinyl is pretty pricey these days and definitely worth waiting for re-issues. Thanks for the kind mention and your support. Much appreciated.
Didn't know you had a thing for buses if only I'd known, close call between them and trams and trains though. So in my mind very much not so bothered these days as nice as it is to have vinyl I'm too tight to splash out on most reissues though if I used to have and flogged it, it's a closer call. Couple of Pulp I really regret selling now for starters. Saw Mozza that year at Reading festival he was on form that day.
At a recent morrissey gig they were selling signed copies of four different albums (widely available ones)for £250 each. The guy in front of me put all four on his credit card. Im a big fan but i dont stretch that far!
Just a tad Brit centric lol, but I'd expect nothing less from you. I lived and studied in the West Midlands (jokes aside) in the mid 90s - and definitely got bit by the BritPop bug which I carry through to today. Interesting picks - although Manic Street Preachers is one band never liked - over bloated with a lack of self-awareness lyrically wise. I've been lucky that most of my favorite (uh-hum favourite) Brit bands have vinyl releases/reissues. Mull Historical Society "Loss" would be one of my choices, not crazy rare - but with shipping not cheap!
I've started buying cds again...great value for money...quality sound...love vinyl as well.
Hi. CDs are so cheap I’m always picking them up .. great for the car .. thanks for watching 👍
I'm not a huge fan of the Manics, but I agree Everything Must Go is quality!
Great idea Rob, l'd like to get the Moz, Weller, Richard Ashcroft and Manics on vinyl too.
