Grow Your Own Tea Plant | Growing a Container Tea Garden
My herbal tea garden wouldn't be complete without the actual tea bush that black, green, oolong and white tea originates from (yes, all four come from the same plant!) If you want to grow your own tea plant too, here's how you can do it even in colder zones like mine.

For those that are just starting to do greenhouses I personally recommend using solar pass-through greenhouses and when she says location is everything she is right if you want the best way to do a greenhouse without having any delays on food throughout the year, depending on what side of the equator you are is what way you face your greenhouse for instance if you live in Canada Wisconsin, Michigan or anywhere that is northern part of the equator you find solar south, and you can heat your greenhouse without using any electricity just using the sun

I love tea. Next year I’m going to try to grow some tea herbs plants. By the way I’ve learned that you should always steep teas covered as some of the nutrients will evaporate with the steam. It should be covered to maximize the benefits

It's hard to find information on growing and harvesting your own tea. I got a tea plant as a gift and used camellia fertilizer on it, but it died right away. I've been able to grow blueberries without testing soil pH, but tea has been trickier.

I tried growing Hales Best Jumbos this year and I ended up with 2 that both weighed right at 7lbs! But I didn’t get very many other good ones because of the weird drought/monsoon patterns of the weather here. Most of them got too much water and swelled too quick and never ripened. I tend to wait on mine to turn more yellow before harvesting. It’s hard to wait, but well worth it. They should “let go” of the vine with a gentle pull when they’re ripe and ready.

I have a south facing hill about 25 x 60 that I'm thinking of putting a small orchard on in zone 7a. Is it a good idea to intersperse evergreen bushes/shrubs (something like little giant arborvitae) so that the winter landscape won't just be dormant deciduous fruit trees and bushes?

Thank you for sharing your story about chronic pain and fertility struggles. It really is true that women's pain is not taken seriously, and there have been studies in healthcare that show that. I'm glad you found a provider to take you seriously so you can get the care you deserve. I’m sorry you can relate 💚 it really is too much some days. I read the mental toll of infertility is comparable to a cancer diagnosis and endo is considered one of the top ten most painful conditions. It’s wild that we can know that and still be gaslit into believing nothing is wrong.

@@thecottagepeach thank you. I’m sorry you’re going through this too ❤️ wow, that is really scary news to receive. I read that scleroderma is considered the “worst autoimmune disease,” because of the decrease in life expectancy. Ooh I'm also a big knitter, crocheter, and handspinner! Have you ever considered growing your own flax or keeping silkworms? (you can actually let them fully develop, you don't have to boil them to get the cocoons!) I wanna grow dye plants - hopi black dye sunflower, hopi red dye amaranth, dyers' chamomile, dyers' woad, madder...A ton of different options! I'm probably gonna try making a dye garden this coming year with my mom (she and I both do fiber things). I'd love to hear if you do anything similar! Also...oof, the whole not taking women's pain seriously thing. I feel that *so hard.* I've had chronic back pain for almost a decade now and I still don't have a diagnosis. I'm gonna start pressing my doc for further testing because I can't keep living like this, it keeps getting worse, and...yeah. I'm so sorry it took 20 years for your pain to be taken seriously and to get answers about it. Best of luck with everything in your fertility journey.
