The struggle of getting rid of plants for fall is so real😭 I feel so bad wasting their potential but in a short growing season it's the only way I can grow cool season crops
I love chaos gardening, I add some structure to my garden but there's always that "itch" to just toss seeds and see who survives. Ever 2 weeks, over every new and full moon I'll add new seeds to the beds for continual growth even through the winter(greenhouse and cover).
Thank you for sharing in a real way. So many of us can relate in a variety of ways. I'm in Southern CA, but love watching your videos. I must grown only in elevated beds as well and enjoy learning each time I watch your videos.
Thank you, this was empowering. I feel so frustrated with all the limitations I have and guilty for not doing "enough". but truth is, as long as I'm doing the bare minimum when that's all I have to give, it's more than enough and I do need to rest and recover❤
I feel your pain. I haven't been physically able to walk much, in the past three months. Instead of pulling the roots out, I would have left them in. Easier for me to cut the tops and roots become soil.
That’s a great point, and normally I would have done the same, except that these beds have potting soil in them to keep the soil really light because the beds are raised up on legs,so I don’t want anything decomposing in them☺️
I see you.....I had endometriosis (hysterectomy at 27), I have Lupus, Ehlers danlos(EDS), postural othostatic tachycardia(POTS), Fibromyalgia, Ankalosing spondylitis, Migraines, Cluster headaches, IBS/D, Gastroperesis. My garden gives me joy too.
Wat soil did you say you used. Pulling plants is hard most of the time I’ll just scoop the base off so I don’t mess with the soil but garden still looking good can’t wait to see how the chaos comes along
other gardeners leave the roots if the roots have time to break down. it gives nutrients back to the soil. not always an option w short seasons, limited space, or succession planting. so it really depends on what works for u edit: also above ground planters/pots might not have the ecosystem/durability to break down the roots lol
It definitely depends on the method of gardening I’m doing. These beds are full of potting mix because regular soil is too heavy for these elevated beds. If I allowed the roots to decompose the soil would slowly become heavier and denser and no longer be potting mix.

Hopefully you were able to compost yours too?
I am sorry about having "those" days!
I did my fall sowing on Cape a week or so ago and seeds back around Boston a few weeks ago.
Thank you! Better now

Meg has really inspired me to have the confidence to just go for it with the chaos sowing!
I love that you time when you chaos sow. So smart!
Wait that’s a really really good idea to dress up so that you can’t do much….thats a really good way To pace.
And who doesn’t like an excuse to dress up 😉
I have fibromyalgia. Thankyou for being so open about your invisible illness. ❤️🩹
Of course, thank you for watching 💚

I use a dolly to move everything around from pots they are 5g and up. My back is not what it used to be. Hope you feel better!
A cart definitely helps, the ground is so soft here though😩 feeling better now!
@@thecottagepeach the ground! Didn’t think of that!
I also wear nice clothes out into the garden on days when I know I need to limit physical labor. Oh, the tricks we learn with chronic illness ❤
Always scheming up new tricks!

I use Coast of Maine brand potting mix in these beds!
Where did you get your wooden dibbler ?
Beautiful garden 😊
Thank you 💛
Why do other experienced gardners say to leave the roots and cut the plant at the base? You have the opposite method, I'm confused...

Root wad big as okra.😮 House cleaning will help everything. Sweet potatoes are ready. Carry on.
Glad for the reset
don't you put worms in your raised beds?
I do not, sometimes I see a few here and there though. But very infrequently
