Have you tried flux paste? I have better luck with reballing chips in the past.

Soldering VRAM seems way easier and safer. Replace the core is another level. Congrats, you're a master.

My 1050ti is dead, currently I don't have a voltmeter, but if I shall have one and after all the tests it showed vram is dead, then I'm just putting it in the oven xD, or reflow it with the hot air gun, same with the main chip, it's incredibly difficult to resolder the vram or reball the gpu. Your skills are really incredible, hats off to you.

I wish I could upgrade the GPU on my laptop. It is a Maibenben Heimai 7 (Clevo stuff) with Intel i5 9400 (LGA1151) and GTX 1650. I know there was a RTX 2060 variant of it.

indeed but there's also a couple other things to consider, cooling, the package (need that extra vram.) and finally the solderball layout as if its not correct you simply cant do it, like you can try to put a 4080 mobile in a 2060 laptop but you might not have any success in it. you also technically can add ram and a better cpu this way, or even storage, some are easier than others but again you MUST have the correct layout for what you want.

My absolute respect for this upgrade, especially the expansion of the VRam with correct encoding. It is highly risky but I bet it is a good feeling after finishing it and have it working. I hope it will last long and will not die after some higher loads with more heat.
