I love Red Lucy and the Thorn, it does bum me out that we don't find out much about Red I would've loved to actually know more about her. Plus the Thorn makes me wish they did the Combat Zone in Fallout 4 like they initially planned with the cage fights and bets.
In my latest started game, I sort of wandered into that radscorpion nest before even leaving the general Goodsprings area. But I was playing with all the DLCs, and that gave me a Grenade Launcher, Shotgun and some more things, so with a lot of grenades beings shot at a somewhat close distance and shotgun blasts when they were alone or on the verge of death and I was able to win with barely any damage received.
+Sgt. Eclair Depending on which difficulty you're playing at, and if you have any mods that might help you out one way or another, you might not really need 40mm grenades that often afterwards, and there should be atleast several merchants who can sell them, provided you can find them. But if you do, there should be atleast 2 ways to get more in Goodsprings. 1. The general store owner should sell some, provided you have the dlcs/ expansions. I'm not too sure about the quantity though. 2. There are mods which add a NPC or container in Doc Mitchell's house, and either of them can be used to gain a variety of items, including lots of ammo of every single ammo type, if i'm not wrong.
Robbini0 Sorry, I meant when fighting more stuff like giant radscorpions. My bad. Anyways, the easy start mods are unnecessary when you can just use console commands.

Protip for the Quarry Junction: If you actually climb onto the conveyors the Deathclaws cannot reach you, and will run in circles allowing you to pick them off easily.
Quarry Junction is best dealt with as a Light/Medium armor character with either the Gobi Desert rifle or the Anti-material rifle and high guns skill. By the time you have that gear you should be leveled pretty far, and it should make taking out the deathclaws a piece of cake, I think AM rifles start being sold by the Gun Runners about level 16-18. Alternatively, if you're using shotguns you could get a Pump shotgun or riot shotgun and the And Stay Back! perk. This would effectively allow you to keep the deathclaws knocked down while you unload shotgun shells into them. There's also the option of a fat man or missile launcher if you're specced into explosives; a high explosives skill with the splash damage perk (level 12) can do wonders but be warned, if you hit even remotely close with 100 explosives and a fat man you're going to die, and missile launchers aren't much better. I know this because I fired a fat man across the irradiated area in The Divide, the one with all the deathclaws, and a fat man shot at that range killed me at level 19 or so.
@@SmugCoffeeMan if we're talking long ranged weapons for hunting Deathclaws my go to weapon is the Gauss Rifle, it's a single shot weapon but most of the time you only need one shot.

You can just wait anywhere without having to sit or sleep in Fallout New Vegas. But it's your choice to wait a specific way, just glad to see NV content
One of the things I liked about New Vegas was the way that weapons/armor had to be maintained and that the proper ammo for the job was an important factor. {You can see Oxhorn's weapon malfunctioning several times in that last encounter with the Legion Assassins!} The Deathclaw cave is VERY difficult on lower levels, a combat shotgun with slugs and the "Blowback?/stagger" perk will usually keep them off of you long enough to do the job!
Once you're at least a lvl 20, u can literally grind the Thorn & keep getting XP and caps by killing Deathclaws, over & over, just at the cost of ammo.
Oxhorn, I just want to say you're my dude. I only recently discovered this channel but I'm so happy to have found a youtuber who appreciates Fallout as much as I do. And, has shit tons of content for me to dive into. 👊
New vegas lore is some of your best content. The mixture of west-coast fallout lore, and the dark and grimy stories in new vegas creates some of the best fallout story-telling I've ever heard. Can't wait til you get to the NCR! Keep it up!
It can kind of screw your line of sight, but if you sit on the belt of the quarry machines the Deathclaws get even more confused and can't really climb up it very well.
Ox, thank you as always! I found the Thorn in the sewers and wondered what was up with it. I ran into Chomps before I found this video and ended up taking down deathclaws, because why not, right? I didn't think to use the ramps, so thank you for that tip. What helped me most with the mother and the alpha male, though, was climbing on top of that red earthmover thing. For whatever reason, they didn't seem to see me there and they didn't seem to be able to get to me. I used a combination of the Gobi Campaign Scout rifle (the one you find in the Sniper's Nest) which is my favorite weapon in the game so far for long range snipe play. I also took along a .50 caliber Anti-Materiel Rifle specifically because one of the NPCs mentioned how well it did against Deathclaws. It hits hard and they *really* don't like incendiary rounds, but personally, I thought it was too slow. The Gobi worked better overall and had a better range. I am curious as to what hunting revolver you're using. I'm sure you've referenced it somewhere. I'm still working on a good handgun. I'm using a hunting shotgun with mods for close range work, and I've got That Gun and a 12.7 mm handgun so far. They're good, but yours seems to have a better range. Thank you as always! I don't have time to run games over and over, and FONV, in particular, has a lot of ways you can (no pun intended) shoot yourself in the foot and lock yourself out of quests. Thank you for taking the time to lay out all the info. It makes the game so much more enjoyable because I know I'm not missing out on getting the most out of the game (and I absolutely love the lore and additional details, too.) Even as much as I pick up, you always seem to find one thing more!
About the Deathclaws, I love how the NPC's are like "Have you ever seen what an Anti Material Rifle does to that thing?" But I figured out that a Light Machine Gun with Armor Piercing Rounds sheds deathclaws faster than any sniper will. Even using the Bozar with Armor Piercing is far more superior and effective than an Anti Material Rifle.
Still Enclave is quite important to fallout's lore, you know that one giant robot who was reprogrammed to fight the enclave... or Enclave's main power armor, i would love to know something more about them than now, cuz i only bough New Vegas And Fallout 4
Bethesda got lazy af with F4. They could have made a story line about how they are trying to rebuild LP from scratch but lack a schematic for his CPU and they think its somewhere in Boston. Anything would have been more believable that you've restored him from his destroyed body, those nukes came from space, there would be nothing left.
I had the same problem. The issue is that there are no quests that lead you to or near the thorn, so it is very unlikely for one to find it knowing nothing about it.
I just realized you only have 221k subs. I thought you had millions. How are you so small? Your editing and commentary is great and you're one of the few channels I have notifications on for.
Thank you so much for these videos Oxhorn. I drive at night for work and I can just queue up one of your massive playlists and enjoy things about Fallout I didnt even know. You are so detailed and informative that now my son watches you too. Please keep up the good work and good luck in the future! PS As a fan I would like to know what you think is the best starting out build for players? Tips and tricks on how to advance, where to go and what to do. I create new characters every few months and I struggle to get them going in the beginning. Thanks again, bye.
Fun fact if you have Ed e as a companion you can push him down in the arena and tell Lucy you want to fight he will stay down there and help you in the fight.
In those legion hit squads, it is also a good source of caps from selling their gear and weapons with barter skill high. I earned a good bit and took some of the weapons for myself.☺️
Your hatred of cazadors amuses my companion mod cazador :3 I named it Cazzie and gave it a combat helmet! Gotta say, The Thorn is probably one of my more favorite fetch quests for NV in particular, it's got a nice theme going for it.
It should also be noted that Dead Wind Cavern, the position Lucy sends you to, also has the Legendary Deathclaw among it's 'lesser' Deathclaws. The Legendary Deathclaw is the *3rd* toughest enemy in all of New Vegas, only beat out by the legendary bloatfly and a variant of roboscorpion, both of which came in the Big MT. If you beat it, you can also locate two other things: a dead Brotherhood of Steel with a full set of power armor, and the unique grenade MG known as Mercy. Mercy's big special? it fires the much larger grenades used in the grenade rifles, so naturally it's a much nastier piece of work than the others of it's kinship.
Oh! One last thing: If you find that getting any of these egg clutches are too difficult, you also have the option of simply looting twelve of these critter's eggs out in the wild. Once you have gathered twelve different eggs, they will combine themselves into a 'Pile of X Eggs' for you to deliver to Lucy. Doesn't help as much for the Deathclaws, as I think the only one to drop eggs offhand is the mother in the quarry, but it helps with the rest of em.
Just gonna point something out to you Oxhorn, its just a theory of mine, but it makes a lot of sense when you consider what Red Lucy asks you to do. The meaning behind her taking you as a lover is more than because you helped her complete the thorns beastairy, but because you are one of the best hunters there. Red Lucy wants your seed so she can, like with the eggs you brought her, raise a child made up of two brave strong hunters (You and her) to one day inherit and run the thorn. Theres also the symbolism of her making you steal eggs from the mothers before asking you to bed with her. You present her with the eggs, she asks for your seed. Now when I first came up with this theory, I didnt think I would find much evidence to back it up. But the more I learned about the Thorn and her character, the more it seemed plausible. Anyways, thats my theory as to part of Lucys character. TLDR? RED LUCY WANTS YOUR BABY BRO!
Nice theory... Makes sense in the context of the character when it comes to the courier being a male. The only issue is that I am reasonably sure Oxhorn is playing a female courier, considering his other NV videos has a female character and that Red Lucy will sleep with the females as well, so it doesn't work on that end. Unless she is somehow stealing your eggs and freezing them and doing sciency shit to them... but I doubt that.
+Shantanu Shinde I haven't run this yet, but I guarantee she's not getting anywhere with my female courier. What a shame we don't get any MEN this cool who are interested in women in this game...
I'm 5 weeks pregnant and watching these videos are the only thing keeping me calm. I've been incredibly nervous, so thank you Ox for keeping this nervous mom calm.
Get yourself the best antimaterial rifle and explosive ammo. It's a high level and high cost endeavour but you can snipe the three deatclaws in seconds. Get good enough and you can do it with the Ratslayer or Christine's rifle.
If you ever have a hard time in New Vegas, you should go pick up Love and Hate from the gang members near red rock canyon. Even at low unarmed levels, they're one of the best weapons in the game.
You would have so much fun with a mod weapon called No-Bark's Bite... 4 barrels, fires 4 20 gauge shotgun shells at once, and, at very easy admittedly, it'll one-shot Deathclaws...
I just found this video at the right moment, I was done exploring the whole map ( no DLC unfortunately, but thanks to your videos I discovered all the possibilities and interesting LORE a very good guide), almost every side quest done, aside from the final battle and just now I discovered that there is a subterranean level of vegas???? Awesome 😎 YOU ARE THE BEST
i miss everything about new vegas! first bethesda game i ever played and the first open world sandbox game i ever played, i even miss those god damn cazadors!
Morgan Aramburu they were the first thing that killed me in fallout nv so its more like a nostagia thing, instead of heading to the highway from goodsprings i followed the road past the gas station and got murderlated
The Thorn was awesome but I would have really liked more quests with it pertaining to the arena itself. There's a lot of potential with arenas like this in games. Gambling, bribery, and treachery abound in seedy fight clubs and pits. Love New Vegas just like the rest of the fallout games but this part definitely left me wanting more.
Deathclaws have 3 main weaknesses. Miniguns, the Anti-Material rifle, and the Holorifle. All can make quick work of them. I usually use the Avenger minigun in Deathwind Cavern. If one is worried about gun condition. The AM rifle is also highly effective at clearing the cazedores if you use explosive ammo to clear groups of them from long distances.
Hey oxhorn, love your vids as always! In F:NV there's a real advantage to taking out enemies' mobility. If you can wound a deathclaw's leg or a cazador's wing they can only crawl toward you, making them so much easier. Try it out!
Hey Ox, about the Cazadors, I've found that if you cripple a wing on each Cazador, they become very easy to pick off, since all they can do is crawl weakly. I discovered this when I first played New Vegas amd tried walking North out of Goodsprings to go to Vegas, and all I had then was a Varmint Rifle and a 357. Magnum pistol
Hey man, a friend recently introduced me to your channel and I'm loving all the lore, but I was wondering if you're going to do a video on the "Old World Blues" New Vegas DLC since I think it's quite the interesting thing.
Damn this guy uses a lot of chems. I just kill everything with the COS sniper from a distance. Works even on very hard mode. Getting that rifle on very hard mode is another story. =D (Probably the hardest DLC in the game) Also make sure you are allied with everyone before doing these quests. It saves a million headaches.
I found that in much of NV, the Ratslayer was awesome.... as long as you could pull off headshots. But the Medicine Stick was a good pick for if things went a bit wrong. However, it's a no brainer to use Christine's rifle when you can get it.
I went there with a low level character on very hard. Everything 1-2 shot me. Hella fun though. I did pick up the gun from dead money early on so the robots were not so bad.
16:37 - actually, you can go from the great khan encampment, it is quicker and easier way. There is a ravine with a small pond at its bottom going up from the camp. But you can not go directly up from the pond because a steep slope. You have to go around and use a ledge to reach a middle of the slope and then you can go directly or traverse up.
I love the new Vegas stories, one that you'll love if you haven't done it is learn about the long connection of DLC, a character known as Ulysses. A courier who has a history with your character, mentioned very little from legion and the owner of the Mojave courier company in Primm. The trail of him leading from the DLC in order: "Honest Hearts" then "Old World Blues" then "Dead Money" and finally seeing him in the final DLC. +Oxhorn, I'd think this would be a great video
"Hey, let me charge you crazy fast and erratic, then smack you with my stinger for a crazy level of damage...oh btw, your poisoned now! And all my buds wanna show you their stingers too!"
It's why I stopped using followers. I only played New Vegas in hardcore, and followers don't just pass out. Even minutes after being stung by a Cazador, you still have to pump stimpaks into them to keep them alive thanks to the poison. I just... can't let Rex... die. Thanks, Dr. Borous.
At the quarry, I was doing a great Kahn quest and went around the lightbulb and found out you could par core onto a hanging dump truck like thing and eventually I ran out of my .306 ammo and had to use my varmint rifle.

A -Are you.... talking to yourself?
Victorinoxj they probably deleted their comments
You can just wait anywhere without having to sit or sleep in Fallout New Vegas. But it's your choice to wait a specific way, just glad to see NV content
25:23 The way you say ''you feel well rested'' is just icing on the cake.
God I love Red Lucy's voice.
Same
And her look. She looks and sounds very sexy.
sorry but she is annoying to me .
@@Walterbennet3697 We forgive you, thoughts and prayers 🙏
@@jamescr101 thank you
i love her voice. it’s so calming, even when she’s saying the most terrifying shit
The maintained part i actually hate, and a lot, but the ammo part is god
I suggest the Anti-Material Rifle when killing deathclaws.
I kill deathclaws with the survivalist's rifle
I used a suppressed sniper and got myself high enough so the deathclaws couldn’t get me
Scoped laser rifle.
Use inc more powerful
Is ammo for the amr aka anti-material-rifle
Once you're at least a lvl 20, u can literally grind the Thorn & keep getting XP and caps by killing Deathclaws, over & over, just at the cost of ammo.
What happened to Boone's clothes? 😂😂😂
Rough night on the strip
what happens in New Vegas stays in New Vegas
Ever since boone became non resentfulof his past, he felt truly free
Boone joined in
Boone is going to bake them BOOM lol
I realized that that there's no enclave video from you... weird
Fynd Well, FO4 didn't have the Enclave, and in New Vegas they're honestly more a footnote than anything else in the larger picture.
Still Enclave is quite important to fallout's lore, you know that one giant robot who was reprogrammed to fight the enclave... or Enclave's main power armor, i would love to know something more about them than now, cuz i only bough New Vegas And Fallout 4
Fynd Libert Prime was designed to fight commies and reprogrammed by the BoS to target the Enclave, who later nuked it. Imo it should not be in Fo4
Lord Daffy my mistake
If those two guys with the chest were pirates, then the "x marks the spot" would explain the leg bone art.
Glad to see you're doing more New Vegas content. Its story and lore are so much better than 4's.
first
Ryan Walters ehh it really depends. There's a lot of good lore in both
Feel like both have great nuggets of lore, but Fallout NV contained more and felt far more "in-universe" than 4 IMO.
And 3s
Ryan Walters No Just No
Next video: "is killing the baby death claws MORAL?"
Declan Edmison is it?? :( poor lil babies jk lol
Can't get enough of these long new vegas videos, that's me just getting round to watching them wish I'd started sooner
when my character slept with her i pick pocketed her coat and she had to stand there half naked
Playa
Madlad
Its better if you give her raider armor its more revealing he he ;D
@@obi-wank-enobi I thought if you reverse pickpocket clothes onto someone they don't equip them.
Nice I love red heads
After 7 years of owning this game...I never knew this place existed in the game.
I had the same problem. The issue is that there are no quests that lead you to or near the thorn, so it is very unlikely for one to find it knowing nothing about it.
LOL "You feel well rested!"
I just realized you only have 221k subs. I thought you had millions. How are you so small? Your editing and commentary is great and you're one of the few channels I have notifications on for.
are you sure about that?
from future
I need a Red Lucy in my life
Thank you so much for these videos Oxhorn. I drive at night for work and I can just queue up one of your massive playlists and enjoy things about Fallout I didnt even know. You are so detailed and informative that now my son watches you too. Please keep up the good work and good luck in the future!
PS
As a fan I would like to know what you think is the best starting out build for players? Tips and tricks on how to advance, where to go and what to do. I create new characters every few months and I struggle to get them going in the beginning. Thanks again, bye.
23:28 You should be able to recognize that voice now that I mention it right? ;) if you didn't already.
Fun fact if you have Ed e as a companion you can push him down in the arena and tell Lucy you want to fight he will stay down there and help you in the fight.
24:54 Poor ED-E and Boone, I know your pain. Reminds me of the time I had to watch Minato and Kushina make Naruto.
0:34 you dont have to sit on a bench, because in older titles you could wait anywhere by just pressing T
so im the only one who didn't know it was a sewer and not the name of the town?
AVGVSTVS ? After all this time?! Loooool
Happened to me when I first played years ago.
Lucy: *turns on light*
Ox: oh cool, a light
Lucy: *equips sexy sleepwear*
Ox: OH
Am I the only one who finds it funny that bloodborne is mentioned and you are called a hunter?
Alva the Wayfarer right. Even though this predates Bloodborne by a few years I still think it's cool
In those legion hit squads, it is also a good source of caps from selling their gear and weapons with barter skill high. I earned a good bit and took some of the weapons for myself.☺️
And your content owns.... I've been noticing that fallout 3 and new vegas have much more Depth as far as the player having to discover lore.
Detective John Kimble Hi whiney bitch.
when a FO3 player and a FONV player get into an argument over which it the better game
You could always check out my morrowind lore it's amazing creeps.... up always enjoy this content
Awesome theory
but she sleeps with female courier as well
+Shantanu Shinde I haven't run this yet, but I guarantee she's not getting anywhere with my female courier. What a shame we don't get any MEN this cool who are interested in women in this game...
well, you do get a one night stand with Benny...
I'm 5 weeks pregnant and watching these videos are the only thing keeping me calm. I've been incredibly nervous, so thank you Ox for keeping this nervous mom calm.
the assassins were a sign you're level/weapon arsenal wasn't good enough to enter the area properly.
Love how you get the “You are the greatest hunter The Thorn has ever seen.” task, which immediately gets checked off.
I'm a simple guy, I see New Vegas I click play and Like
Get yourself the best antimaterial rifle and explosive ammo. It's a high level and high cost endeavour but you can snipe the three deatclaws in seconds. Get good enough and you can do it with the Ratslayer or Christine's rifle.
Riot shotgun works wonders against cazadors
man fallout new vegas is really a game that you learn new things every day like i had no idea the thorn exsisted and ive been playing for 8 years
If you ever have a hard time in New Vegas, you should go pick up Love and Hate from the gang members near red rock canyon. Even at low unarmed levels, they're one of the best weapons in the game.
You would have so much fun with a mod weapon called No-Bark's Bite...
4 barrels, fires 4 20 gauge shotgun shells at once, and, at very easy admittedly, it'll one-shot Deathclaws...
she calls you good hunter and sends you to bloodborn caves.... deep
oh my prayer has been answered. praise the mighty oxhorn. he really does care!
Awesome 😎
YOU ARE THE BEST
i miss everything about new vegas! first bethesda game i ever played and the first open world sandbox game i ever played, i even miss those god damn cazadors!
You don't miss Cazadores.
Trust me, you don't.
You may THINK you do but you don't.
Morgan Aramburu they were the first thing that killed me in fallout nv so its more like a nostagia thing, instead of heading to the highway from goodsprings i followed the road past the gas station and got murderlated
kiomon I almost got rid of fnv because I couldn’t leave goodsprings because cazadors and deathclaws
Fallout new vegas is not made by bethesda! It's made by obsidian game studios.
You know, I'm surprised that the Legion has any troops at all with how they send Assassin parties like crazy.
The AM rifle is also highly effective at clearing the cazedores if you use explosive ammo to clear groups of them from long distances.
wow kudos to you for doing that at lvl 17 and educational thx for a great video
Hey oxhorn, love your vids as always! In F:NV there's a real advantage to taking out enemies' mobility. If you can wound a deathclaw's leg or a cazador's wing they can only crawl toward you, making them so much easier. Try it out!
"that's why she opens her doors* to you"
doors = legs
THE *ULTIMATE REWARD.*
I'd definitely love to see a series of videos on the legendary creatures. And the unique weapons.
Hey man, a friend recently introduced me to your channel and I'm loving all the lore, but I was wondering if you're going to do a video on the "Old World Blues" New Vegas DLC since I think it's quite the interesting thing.
New vegas just has that vibe about it, cowboy western feel, the orange glow of the mojave and all of the references from fallout 1 and 2, its perfect.
"Cazadors... cazadors... oh I hate cazadors..." said literaly everyone xD
Sometimes when I'm watching Oxhorn I imagine the Courier saying everything ox says out loud to the people he's talking about and its funny
Damn this guy uses a lot of chems.
I just kill everything with the COS sniper from a distance. Works even on very hard mode.
Getting that rifle on very hard mode is another story. =D (Probably the hardest DLC in the game)
Also make sure you are allied with everyone before doing these quests. It saves a million headaches.
I found that in much of NV, the Ratslayer was awesome.... as long as you could pull off headshots. But the Medicine Stick was a good pick for if things went a bit wrong. However, it's a no brainer to use Christine's rifle when you can get it.
dsagent big MT is super easy if you go and get the pulse gun before hand
I went there with a low level character on very hard.
Everything 1-2 shot me.
Hella fun though. I did pick up the gun from dead money early on so the robots were not so bad.
dsagent no I meant the pulse gun from the vault for Veronica's quest although the holo rifle is one of the best weapons in the game
10+ years after playing NV I've never even seen this place 💀
I had the gobi recon sniper rifle, and a marksman carbine, i was killing the radscorpions with 1 or 2 shots lol
Oh my, 23:33 Jas Wilkins sounds like Nora from fallout 4!!!
i know you probably wont see this but i found your channel the other day and havent been able to stop watching! love your videos man, crafted so well
why is Boone naked?
Tuukka Meriläinen yeah.......
They made a threesome out of it
Sloppy seconds.
Dr.Klein can't even read his name.
do a vid on the white glove society
" you have earned her admiration which is why she has opened her door to you" god dammit ox, I was drinking when you said that! Lol
Are the videos for the NV dlcs going to be 3+ hours? Because I need that in my life.
You managed to defeat all the Deathclaws at Quarry Junction? Props.
I hate casadors to they are overpowerd
"Hey, let me charge you crazy fast and erratic, then smack you with my stinger for a crazy level of damage...oh btw, your poisoned now! And all my buds wanna show you their stingers too!"
theTRektking ! That's why OWB with the heartless perk exists
Lord Daffy And the Implant/DNA avenger perk exists! A free 40% damage boost is huge!
Cazadors are not bard at all as long as you have a decent build they are just easy xp
It's why I stopped using followers. I only played New Vegas in hardcore, and followers don't just pass out. Even minutes after being stung by a Cazador, you still have to pump stimpaks into them to keep them alive thanks to the poison. I just... can't let Rex... die.
Thanks, Dr. Borous.
That moment when he said he found the Bloodborne Key I immediately thought about that locked door after you fight Cleric Beast.
why no clothes in Boone?
I'm kinda surprised you didn't mention the quest reward: "Dinner Bell".
in fallout New Vegas and 3 u don't need to sit on a bench that's only for 4
At the quarry, I was doing a great Kahn quest and went around the lightbulb and found out you could par core onto a hanging dump truck like thing and eventually I ran out of my .306 ammo and had to use my varmint rifle.
