I always went for Boone since he was the first companion I ever got and it took me a hell of a lot of time to realize who else could be a companion (or that you could have other companions, earlier still), and I still love him, mind you, but Cass is just so good. I've heard a lot of people utterly hate her chattiness, but I love it. That's actually one of the things I didn't like about Boone, always so silent and not wanting to say anything about him (which is perfectly fine, but alas). Cass, on the other hand, she's just a chatterbox with something to say about everything and she's pretty cool overall (I dig redheads as well).
I ALWAYS go for Veronica just because nothing beats getting jumpscared by the kill cams that randomly happen while traveling with her. She seems to like beating the shit out of small helpless enemies while we travel lol.
The Prodigal Knight True but they can get annoying when it turns your character backwards and you have to figure out where you are every time she kills something. Veronica is still one of my favorites. I like that she is so upbeat and positive. Thats why i like Cass too, but the downside is she hates evil characters and can leave if you talk to her too many times. Boone i like because he stays out of my way and has a sad back story. Unpopular opinion I know, but Ed-e is honestly my least favorite because he somehow knows when I’m going to throw a grenade and has a nasty habit of getting right in my way exactly as I’m throwing them and inevitably ricocheting them straight at me. I died on my grenade character so many freaking times to him that I can’t handle him anymore lol. Plus he just talks and talks when I’m trying to do lonesome road, which I’ve done well over 100 times, no exaggeration lol. I play a LOT of new vegas. Fallout 4 didn’t quite do it for me the way new vegas does, but crafting was pretty cool. So many characters in new vegas get replaced by other fully voiced characters when killed, thats really cool to me. Most people have never even seen or heard many of them, like Gabban burning down nipton instead of vulpes if you had previously killed Vulpes Inculta on the strip after meeting Benny. He has a bunch of voiced lines too, but hardly anyone knows he exists because you have to have seen benny before nipton, and killed vulpes stealthily, which is somewhat unlikely in typical playthroughs. But obsidian thought of the possibility and planned for it, which not many other companies would do.
Mostly, when i paly Fallout-New Vegas and first discovered Rose of Sharon Cassidy, I've always thought of Cassidy from Fallout 2. And my mind is flashing back and always thought to myself, I shall bring my legacy of my possible non-existent ancestor of the Vault dweller's grandson the chosen one. So i decided to take her with me and thought of myself being the courier as i was the child who came from New-Reno either given birth by the daughter or the wife of Mr.Bishop. I always stick around with her. Love her choice of clothing and her little sass and whisky. So we all go rough-housing all over.
25:53 "If we successfully kill her from stealth we don't lose reputation with the NCR and gain positive karma.." Cass immediately shouts while your trying to be stealthy in a room full of sleeping Crimson Caravaners
Point is, what happened? What caused her to abandon her life and everyone she knew to walk out of Arizona to California through a post-apocalyptic wasteland? That's not something one does on a mere whim. It hints at something truly dramatic and... nothing. It's like telling the life of Napoleon Boneparte as "Wandered around Europe a bit then went to live on an island." Why does she not even have a name? Dammit Obsidian, I want details!!
@@bhesseling9949 It's a shame we can't bring Cass to Zion with us. Joshua Graham could probably provide some answers for her. Just like how Marcus at Jacobstown could give Cass some answers about her father ( Marcus and Cass' father traveled together with The Chosen One in Fallout 2 ).
For a JADED 37 year old alcoholic who has slept around, had a lot of fights on bars and traveled the wastes countless times.* This is the first time I hear about her age. I always thought she was 24 or something.
Yeah and in a pretty good example of "and now for Something completely different" Boone is 26, if you showed me just a picture of Cass and Boone side by side no other context, and assuming I knew nothing about fallou then asked me, which one I thought was older, I'd pick boone.
Put down Gloria, rat out Alice, steal Gun Runners Schematics. After NCR blackmails Crimsons and Graffs into better deal for themselves, Alice and what remains of Van Graffs are obliterated by Gun Runners for that bloody justice. Oh the sweetest outcome. Villains dead, NCR getting stronger for it~
I leave Gloria alive and just kill the Van Graff gaurds outside quietly if I ever go to the Wrangler. I think it's justice the Gun Runners get to do to them what they did to Cass.
@@ariabritton9669 Its better than literally every other option which each is being a form of Communism in the end no matter their words or promises. NCR has its problem, but its honestly the biggest, and most developed faction in any Fallout game besides the Brotherhood and Enclave, but its the only one which hasn't been splintered or utterly annihilated. NCR owns the most territory and also has heavy industrialization. Being abled to manufacture vertibirds rather than scrapping them together from organizations that have or can create them. Worse thing about NCR is just the bureaucracy.
My first time playing this game, and thus doing this quest, I tried to solve most things as peacefully as I could, p much the only faction that hated me was the Legion, as to be expected. For Cass' quest, I gathered the evidence and turned both the Crimson Caravan and the Van Graffs to the NCR and, even tho I felt like I had accomplished nothing, it was the right thing to do. Later on, (at the time I didn't know if that's how things were supposed to go, I thought my game was bugged or something) I was walking into Freeside with Cass and the Van Graff's thugs became hostile toward us. All their thugs, including the guy shouting outside and the door guards, ran out of the Silver Rush into the street in front of the King's building and started attacking us even tho we were nowhere close to them, hell, I hadn't even done anything to trigger them. I hadn't properly saved in a while so there was no turning back, on top of that, I was also working for Mr. House and since I had already killed the Omertas (trying to protect The Strip) before getting The House Always Wins, I immediately failed the quest Don't Tread with the Bear, which threw everything I had accomplished with the NCR down the drain. Honestly, I was p salty that all of this had happened without me being able to do anything about, I kinda felt that all the favors that I had done for these people were forgotten in a matter of seconds, so I said "Fuck the NCR, fuck Mr. House, fuck doing it the peaceful way." and ended up murdering the entire Crimson Caravan along with the Van Graffs, plus the NCR troopers on the Strip but to be fair that was on self-defense. I lost tons of karma and tons of reputation with the factions including the Strip and Goodsprings, but damn, I finally felt real satisfaction. That's how serial killers and mass murderers are born HAHAHA.
This is nothing, though. I've read bibles of text more than a few times, and sometimes, it's even just asinine, incoherent ramblings, so this was a'ight.
The reason i love this companion is her dialogue is so well written and acted. The way she described the NCR genuinely made me laugh out loud the first time i heard it. Memories :>
Thagomizer the snark doesn't work when you consider that Cass is lives in the fallout verse as in harsh lifestyle no access to extensive product etc etc to make her look and more importantly act far younger than she is
Really? Of ALL the things you can't suspend your disbelief about in the Fallout universe, it's Cass' age in 2281? I'm 35 and people regularly mistake me for a college student. Do you think it strains credibility that our dearly departed friend John Cassidy could have fathered her in his old age when he lives a wasteland with no access to Viagra? Or that he could be 60+, have a heart condition, be missing an eye, and still be a ferocious combatant and adventurer? Was he "acting his age" more than his daughter with his lifestyle both before and after the events of Fallout 2?
Maverick I don't know, the characters are pretty well written in Fallout 4, just different. They all have pretty interesting and developed personalities and problems they face in the story, just like in NV.
You can spent 30 minutes talking to someone. Meanwhile the sole survivor...Cass asks "So you want to buy out my caravan?" Choices: Yes, No..but yes, Charisma Check for Reward, Sarcastic Yes.
I like the part where the head of an entire faction is murdered in her communal bedroom near all of her followers and not a single NPC in the game every acknowledges her death or disappearance despite it being part of a main companion's storyline.
The drinking contest dialogue changes a bit depending on your endurance stat. Anything less than 7, and you'll lose horribly. 7 or 8, and you'll put up a good fight. 9 or 10 and you manage to successfully outdrink an alcoholic.
When you crouched to aim at the Legion Assassins, for a second I swear I thought you had just dropped down to check out Cass' ass, lol. In seriousness, I like Cass, she's my second favorite companion. I like Veronica a bit more, but Cass is just hilarious. One of her lines when you drop into stealth, "Be quiet, we're hunting shitheads," is one of my favorite lines in the game.
darklord884 Lore wise, this could literally happen. In the start of Honest Hearts one of the caravan guards mentions leaving her home city, with pornography being one of the reasons. And the town is near 80s territory.... _Why,_ brain, _why?..._
yes. Just name your character that and BOOM! Instant history in all fallout games and the adventures of Long Dick Johnson fucking everything in his path, including women.
Dang Cass is older than the Courier by 1 year. You can estimate the Couriers age if you talk to the Lonesome Drifter with the Lady Killer perk. The courier got a woman pregnant in Utah at 17 or so, so now the child is 18 when the Courier asks, so 18+17=35 or 36.
Amanda Barr I usually have Arcade with me when my Courier is male, just to use confirmed bachelor on him. And Arcade is canonically gay so it works out. XD
Cass was my follower of choice back when I played NV for the first time. I was on the quest working for the Silver Rush energy weapon guys and they tried to make me kill her. Ended up chatting to her and what the heck, I just couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger. So we burnt that laser shop to the ground and stole their everything.
Rin Scott Or New Vegas where every single fucking NCR soldiers sound the same and General Oliver (correct me if I spelt that wrong) god awful voice acting.
I'm sick in my bed and just watched your special on the casino DLC. You kept my spirit up. I hope to see all DLC for NV covered, you do it better than anyone. Keep it up ❤️
I think Cass is like the "Nick Valentine" of New Vegas in regards to quality of companion, not only are her perks cool, but she's possibly one of the most interesting characters in NV because we all know how freakin awesome nick valentine is.
I always like to imagine that Cass and the Courier headed East following the battle of Hoover Dam, maybe starting their own caravan company and finding new trading partners for an independent Vegas. Or maybe she won't want to ever see a caravan again, but just want to be as far away from the NCR and the Mojave as possible.
It would have been a good twist to introduce Rose to Boone and see that happen in special story possibly named "Hit me with your best shot..". I loved playing this game with Rose as a companion and learning her story really made me feel good, just like that of Joshua Graham, whose spiritual comments are worth noting in a lofty way.
Cass has a lot of dialogue which i enjoy, it's not very fun when you got a quiet companion. Boone is cool but you got to work for those talks. Veronica is great, but mostly it's about brotherhood. Ed-E is awesome but i can't get much conversation with his beeps.
A fair assessment. Despite being on their last legs, the Great Khans are able to build a civilization after they relocate to Wyoming and get some breathing room.
fallout new vegas and falllout 4 sold me on the series. both because of companions. Its nice to have someone to share your experiences with in the game and i think fallout 4 did a good job of that with the companions reacting to the locations you visit and the choices you make. like when you go to the witchcraft museum with the deathclaw in it, and for example, nick valentine would say something like "im guessing its not a mole rat"
ComicWriter 2020 except Vegas is a vastly superior rpg. Literally only one mission in fallout 4 with skill checks. And the dialogue options are weak asf because of a voice protagonist New Vegas will always be the goat I think :/
O Cowboy do Mojave yeah. They could do it like fable where you join someone else’s world but gain experience. Or it could be like dead rising co op where your both going through the story but they’d need to work out how to incorporate the decision making.
4 did have pretty good reactions to locations but there were a LOT of missed opportunities. For example: yes they do react to seeing the UFO go down, but they’re dead silent whenever you find the crash site or kill the survivor.
bro I've been binging all your new vegas videos and have been waiting for more since i watched all the other ones keep up the good work man enjoying the content
I like the little initial hint of respect/fear for the Courier, “something tells me hitting you would be a mistake I wouldn’t want to repeat,” like even as hammered as she is, she can tell pissing off the Courier is something you don’t even wanna think about.
honestly, I agree. one guy in Vegas pissed me off so bad I killed every living thing in the strip and then went to Freeside only for the same thing to happen. this also helped me realize I don't take well to insults, and I have a very short temper. fallout new Vegas out here helping me discover how increasingly fucked up I am.
the courier is around 40 as well, there was even an option where the two merry each other and the king sings a song lmao the courier btw had sex with an girl in montana 17 years ago, if you have the ladykiller perk and you talk to the lonesome drifter you can see that. (unless of course he had sex with a girl while he was 10 years old.. I think though he must be around 35-40 years old)
@@zneytram1432 not cannon, you could have a,low charisma male courier without the ladykiller perk , you could have a gay male courier wuth bachelor party perk , you could have a female courier , i could go on and on ... My point is that this is a role playing game , and a line of dialogue doesnt make anything canon specialy when depending on a perk . thats like saying that the canon courier is dumb because i have a low inteligence dialogue which is not true cause if i make a character with high inteligence i dont get that dialogue . Perk dependent dialogue isnt cannon . My character has low inteligence , low charisma, and my character is young because fallout is a role playing game and my character is whatever i make him to be. Thats also why i hate when bethesda makes cannon endings ( for example i considerd fallout 4 a difrent universe from fallout 3 in my playthrow because i used the fev virus ) If you decide that the courier being 30-40 years old is cannon for your character thats fine but it doesnt mean mine or someone else is too especially when is based on perk dialogue line.
@@deansheppard1104 I apreciate it that you didn't insult me cuz always when you share your opinion you just get insulted (me on yt however) But I dont rlly think you know what canon means, in the Fallout game there is a few endings, in one you can destroy the master, in the other you can band up with, if you Do so there will be an ending where most of the humans die and there is only supermutants... however this ending is not the case because cause in the franchise the People arent dead, now the ending which is based on the franchise is canon, the other is only a way it could have went Another example would be the choosen ones son in new reno, if you play the game you can choose between sleeping with the girl or not, if you do not you wont have a son, but canon you do and you hear in New vegas that there is this kid of the choosen one leading the bishop family to the top Now just think of playing the son of Cass and the courier, dosent this Sound dope & canon to you :P

English is not my primary language sry for my grammar errors. If you dont mind me asking , do you play on ps4? I m looking to make a crew in fallout 76
I love how Obsidian made such a rich world with details like the singing fish and phrases like "Caesar on a crutch," which is itself a corruption of "Caesar on a cross," like they made a whole expletive for their world, it's so human!
the long, slow stalking of Alice into The barracks and forboding atmosphere as you pull out a knife and aproach her as she sleeps make that bunk bed gag pure gold. keep up the good work sir, this is why we love your videos.
I love Cass, easily my favorite New Vegas companion. Her father was a great friend of mine, and saved my hide several times. I've played Fallout 2 to completion about 15 times, and I've only done it without Cassidy twice. You could do an entire video about him. Hell, a good friend of mine named his first born after Cassidy! I'm not kidding.
Cass was by far my favorite character in the game. Much like me, if the situation at hand didnt affect her she'd more so be the person on the sideline with a good bottle of whatever the hell, I relate to her more than anyone else, plus it was good to have a shotgun runner by my side so I wouldnt have to spread out my professions. The first two actions on any playthrough for me was to get ED-E and Cass and throw a party so hard it'd break the wasteland. Aside from that Red Lucy in that Arena place was my 2nd fav
I remember using a stealth boy in the Van Graff's store and stealing all their energy weapons laid out. Given how two different quests want to see those unscrupulous mercs dead, I felt no hesitation blowing them away no matter what route I took. The fact that you can recycle energy weapon ammo really cleanly with a single perk was another reason the laser rifle was my weapon of choice in this game.
Something you missed Oxhorn, the conversations with the drinking contest changes based on your endurance. The lowest has you losing it, medium has you and Cass tying (which is easily the funniest of the lot), and the last has you winning and Cass getting P.Oed at your alcohol tolerance.
"No one seems to notice or care that Alice is gone" no no no no no , One thing is not noticing or not caring about her death , but it's another thing to straight up live and talk to people like if she was still alive
The CORRECT way to do Cass's quest: Get the evidence from both Gloria and Alice and turn it in to Ranger Jackson. Cass gets the calm heart perk which increases her health. This turns the Van Grafs hostile so the next time you go to Freeside the idiot cryer attacks you which gets Simon to attack you which causes all the guards to pile out of the Silver Rush to help Simon so you can kill every guard out in the street which is way easier. Now just go into the Silver Rush and kill Gloria and her jerkass brother. Cass will get a little pissy here and tell you to go finish off Alice, just stealth kill Alice and Cass gets the hand of vengeance perk which increases her damage. There are NO downsides to doing this, Cass gets both perks and you still get the "good" ending where the NCR punishes the Van Graffs and the Crimson Caravan.
Hey ox i know all the lore for fallout but u always make it so interesting any ways still waiting for the great khan lore vid anyways stay safe.... that damn bunk bed
+Big Chanka That one might not be entirely on Bethesda. The higher ups at Obsidian tend to be pretty down on romance in their games. I could see them cutting that themselves.
magmos I am not talking about the romance only, I am also talking about the content which was cut from the game to meet Bethesda's deadline. Biggest part of it being the Legion questline and their occupied areas. I am vehemently anti-legion, I've only had one playthrough with it and it was just because of the achievementt. Not to mention that was the playthrough that my game basically shat itself, corrupting all my saves, which discouraged me even more to make another Legion playthrough. One of the most boring playthroughs I've ever had, the biggest factor being of how short it was. I didn't see the mighty Legion that terrorised the Mojave, but some punks in sporting gear that occupied 2-3 places. But all said and done, those who actually like playing for the Legion should have experienced their full potential, they could have had a Legion companion, take areas, do more quests. Every faction is supposed to be grey, but the Legion is black, they don't show the pros, only the cons.
i could be wrong but in fallout 4 the lack of swearing apart from bitch, bastard and shit never really got peoples points across, its the post apocalypse why is everyone so pg13 ?!
Came for the Fallout explorations, stayed for the Damn velvety voice & sympathetic, almost voice-actor attitude to conversations with your AI partners. Enjoying the new sub so far!
A little warning about the battle at @28:39. Remember that if your on Hardcore mode, Cass is gone for good if her HP reaches 0. And that's obviously no good. You might consider leaving her out of harms way somewhere ( either in the bathroom or upstairs, or even outside ) before you engage these guys. And remember to save beforehand!
This is 6 years old but man Oxhorn i give u props. You have the best style of commentary when ot comes down to fallout and skyrim. Its like the character is brought to life.

Rose of Sharon Cassidy born 2244, Ceasar's Legion came into being in 2247. Whatvever her mother might have been fleeing, it wasn't the Legion.
Nicholas Cross maybe it was good old tribal warfare and her whole tribe was wiped out.
Maybe ceasar already had some tribes under his control, but just hadnt formed the legion yet

"that hurt me just watchin' it." The Kings xD

Do you think it strains credibility that our dearly departed friend John Cassidy could have fathered her in his old age when he lives a wasteland with no access to Viagra? Dang Cass is older than the Courier by 1 year. You can estimate the Couriers age if you talk to the Lonesome Drifter with the Lady Killer perk. The courier got a woman pregnant in Utah at 17 or so, so now the child is 18 when the Courier asks, so 18+17=35 or 36.
And the lonesome drifter is 28 yet he says he needs to give his old boned a rest

fallout new vegas and falllout 4 sold me on the series. both because of companions.
T Kay I couldn’t care less which is superior. I find both to be fun. But yes the lack of more than 4 dialogue choices was ridiculous
O Cowboy do Mojave yeah. They could do it like fable where you join someone else’s world but gain experience. Or it could be like dead rising co op where your both going through the story but they’d need to work out how to incorporate the decision making.
O Cowboy do Mojave yeah. So pretty much like fable multiplayer
4 did have pretty good reactions to locations but there were a LOT of missed opportunities. For example: yes they do react to seeing the UFO go down, but they’re dead silent whenever you find the crash site or kill the survivor.

the courier is around 40 as well, there was even an option where the two merry each other and the king sings a song lmao
the courier btw had sex with an girl in montana 17 years ago, if you have the ladykiller perk and you talk to the lonesome drifter you can see that.
Thats also why i hate when bethesda makes cannon endings ( for example i considerd fallout 4 a difrent universe from fallout 3 in my playthrow because i used the fev virus )
If you decide that the courier being 30-40 years old is cannon for your character thats fine but it doesnt mean mine or someone else is too especially when is based on perk dialogue line.
@@deansheppard1104 I apreciate it that you didn't insult me cuz always when you share your opinion you just get insulted (me on yt however)
But I dont rlly think you know what canon means, in the Fallout game there is a few endings, in one you can destroy the master, in the other you can band up with, if you Do so there will be an ending where most of the humans die and there is only supermutants... however this ending is not the case because cause in the franchise the People arent dead, now the ending which is based on the franchise is canon, the other is only a way it could have went
Another example would be the choosen ones son in new reno, if you play the game you can choose between sleeping with the girl or not, if you do not you wont have a son, but canon you do and you hear in New vegas that there is this kid of the choosen one leading the bishop family to the top

The lowest has you losing it, medium has you and Cass tying (which is easily the funniest of the lot), and the last has you winning and Cass getting P.Oed at your alcohol tolerance.

no no no no no , One thing is not noticing or not caring about her death , but it's another thing to straight up live and talk to people like if she was still alive
The CORRECT way to do Cass's quest:
Get the evidence from both Gloria and Alice and turn it in to Ranger Jackson.
Oh the memories... Damn it NV's voice acting, narrative and lore is so good... Still stands up to this day (2017).

AmazinglyIdiotic Did you know at the end of the fame Cass and the Courier were to be married by the King? I wish it was put in the game.
+Big Chanka Saddest thing is that there's not enough content in the game to put it back in.
magmos There so much cut content from the game that just makes me sad. Damn Bethesda and their deadlines.
Yipee-ki-yay melon farmer...
Christopher Toledo dude, some people just don't like to say strong more hurtful cuss words. It's his choice.
Because of the target customers being 13
Im more disappointed that 200 years later there arent goofy fake cuss words like frack
But, when you take psycho your character shouts "FUCKING KILL"

The fish that sings
“Don’t worry be happy”
Lol
I can't take you for a billy badass courier who's walked more miles than a few through some of the darkest places in the US with such a gentle voice
Killed Caesar in my second to third sitting. I was like 20 hours in.
Cass is my absolute favourite companion in NV, I've so been looking forward to this video.
This is 6 years old but man Oxhorn i give u props. You have the best style of commentary when ot comes down to fallout and skyrim. Its like the character is brought to life.

The timing on that was perfect!
Good, quality video with good, quality content. Just like the last few I saw. I think you just earned yourself a subscriber.
I want Oxhorn to do a video on the best ghoul mechanic in the Mojave.
I laughed out loud when you looked at the silver rush sign.
Bro through every fall out you’ll be here with me. I appreciate you man
I like using the Terrifying Presence perk against the Van Graffs when handing over Cassidy his reaction is hilarious from being a badass to very scared!
