From a NY Times article quoting a behavioral psychologist on beards: "...both sexes judge men with beards as older and more masculine, and describe them as generous, sincere, industrious and self-confident." It's probably that "sincere and generous" part that plays into not expecting such a joke from Anthony Jeselnik.

Everything about his standup is super alien!!! He has carved out an amazing and unique niche. NOBODY writes jokes or delivers them like he does. I would say his joke writing is some of the best and most clever in comedy history!!! He will go down as one of the greatest to ever do it.....

i love this dude's style. totally unique. lots of one liner punch lines and plot twists. Never heard of him until last weekend when i put his special on netflix.
@upermans it took much longer than 20 seconds to create the joke and figure how/when to tell it for the best response. I'll agree that it's not a big offense if you want to be technical like that, but it's pretty lame if you think in terms of principles.
-actually, he tried different types of comedy for a couple of years he told a dark joke, and everyone laughed and he figured that was the type of comedy he wanted to do plus he read a lot so he gets a lot of inspo from horror books. But heard he had a pretty normal childhood.

brilliant, period. he plays on expectations and then crashes it on the rocks of the shore. king of the turnaround.. you may think it is easy but it is not so easy to do this all on stage...
I first saw Jeselnik live about 3 or 4 years ago when he was touring with Amy Schumer, Nikki Glaser, and Aziz Ansari (awesome show!). I think most of us had never heard of him, so we were unprepared. He opened with his joke about finding out a bunch of sex offenders lived in his area . . . About half the audience were in shock when he hit us with the punchline, while the other half laughed like hell. :-)

I never saw my dad hit my mother .....he was too quick lol
Jeselnik always speaks really REALLY slow, the speed is correct lol
or maybe everyone else just talks really fast.....
You can tell Steven Wright was a big influence on him.
That's what makes his delivery so funny IMO
He does that to get you thinking about what he's gonna say before he takes a complete u-turn... He's genius
Exactlyyyyy! When he said he made the decision to go with dad I literally lost it laughing because he U-Turned me. Great stuff.
He’s got the most powerful silence in comedy
No........No he really does not. On a side note what rock you been hiding under?
No. Try Mark Normad. The guys talk really fast, but the spacing is incrediblr.
I was gonna like but I'm not gonna ruin the 666
That's actually not true
Jesus Christ, people. The man can have a fucking opinion.
Why does his comedy seem more harsh with a beard
1. Because now he looks old enough to know better...
2. Because he shapes it like The Devil's beard.
