My greatest regret is that while he was looking for his ex-girlfriend's killer, he would have also showed a photograph of my ex-wife to any potential prospects.

And while "blaming" some guy named Jeff, he's thereby implicating himself as gay? If so, its very subtle joke, but also not terribly funny. More of a weird head scratcher were everyone looks at each others and "thinks" they understand the joke, but isn't quite sure.
