I’m a questioner, and I’m going to question each of the 4 tendencies, including mine.
Upholder : They’re much more willing to get things done than most of us. They know how to work as a team. They do. The problem is that they can be too rigid, and end up with a lot of groupthink or blind obedience involved. They know their own inner decisions, and so they know how to lead, but you know, the irony is that people can’t work as a team well if you don’t encourage independence. Some upholders lead not to make others grow, but so they can be dependent on them.
Obliger : They can be rather nice people who are willing to be flexible to adapt to the changes in others’ needs, whether in relationships or sales in business. Though when they’re immature, they can be the stereotype of the “nice guy” or “nice girl” where they always expect that you owe them something, possibly your virginity, because they did something good for you. Martyr complexes can be developed. There is also an emphasis on insisting humblebragging rather than just admitting your strengths so we know what you’re good at to assign you a useful role.
Rebel : They’re willing to put down old traditions, and make people think in new ways for the better. They value difference and encourage others to rebel. The thing is that a lot of rebels are rebels to majority, but when they join a smaller subculture, they’re blind followers of that. I rather have a rebel with a cause than a rebel without in just wanting to rebel to piss other people off. Rebels are often a little too flexible, changing viewpoints like they change clothes. Sometimes you need to rebel against being a rebel, because some of the rules do actually make things fair for everyone.
Questioner : Questioners question things and open up new lines of thought, but believe me, sometimes it’s not the best option to question things. Sometimes there’s an emergency, and questioning too much is going to slow all the group decisions down with your overthinking, so we’d all be in trouble for not putting ourselves out there. You can’t always trust the experts, but chances are, it’d take years to be an expert yourself in something to think for yourself in a field, and you can’t be an expert in everything. Sometimes questioning well is not being an expert yourself, but being able to figure out which experts are more worthy of trust over the other.

    I got Rebel.
It's true. I'm always getting told by others that I hate being told what to do, which is funny, because while I sometimes feel obligated to help others, I'm often inclined to procrastinate if they get too demanding.
Makes me sound more like a cat than a rebel, though haha.

    • @ravenn2631

I got questioner. I don’t understand rebels need to rebel for no logical reason. If those in authority actually work to create a decision that is logical for the greater good, what is the point of rebelling against it? If the authority is illogical or being cruel, then I’d question it. But if someone tells me to do something, would I be more likely to do it or want to go against it? Well, I answer it neutrally. It depends on how reasonable their commands are.
Really, I don’t get it. So many rebels work to take down a system, but when they become leaders themselves, often they can’t think of a better practical system to replace it. I may look like a rebel from the outside, but I don’t really mind authority as long as they’re competent. If someone else takes charge, I get to have less responsibility and time to do whatever the hell I want.

My favorite Obliger story from the book is the one about the two Obliger guys who were running buddies. Ever time they ran, they would each go home with one of the other guy's shoes. They never missed running because they knew if they didn't show up, the other guy wouldn't be able to run either. 😊

I got Upholder. I actually bought the book around half a year ago and it was really eyeopening! You don't only learn from yourself but others around you. I get so frustrated when other people tell me to "relax a little" or "you need more free time" (especially you, mom). What they don't understand is that I'm way more stressed out if I can't follow my plans and schedules and I simply can't enjoy taking time off if I do it when I know I'm supposed be doing something else. Haha this makes me sound so uptight. I promise I take time off too (when I've scheduled it in my calendar (: )

I paused your video then took the test, and got Obliger. Not really sure what to expect from the test. You answered 80% similar to me. But I still feel a little rebellious at heart.

The more you edit your videos, the more it feels like being inside my own head. 😂 But I mean that in a good way, because I like being inside my own head (after all, it’s where I spend most of my time!).
I took the test before watching the video, and my result was “the Questioner.” It rings true for me, because even though I have a lot of drive and am a conscientious person, I tend to ask questions and ignore rules that I think are pedantic or unfair. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I remember purposely breaking the dress code all the time in high school because I thought it was dumb, and refusing to pay fines for skipping out on sorority parties in college (I’m truly the Thoreau of my time). And now, even as a grown-up/teacher...yeah, still this way. 😂 Yesterday, one of my students told me I was like an English teacher version of Ms. Frizzle from The Magic Schoolbus, and I find that fitting, lol.

So I'm INFJ and also got Obliger. I wasn't at all surprised tho. I constantly feel like I do things out of obligation. "I'm not nice to you because I want to be. I'm obligated to be. "

I got Rebel not surprising but what was funny is the way it was described and the quotes people say to me which were written in it.🤣😂 RELATABLE.

Double-commenting just to say a) I’m laughing at you flexing with that shiny new iPhone and b) that I did not fall for your clickbait thumbnail. I saw it and immediately thought, “Frank? A rebel? Not possible, that man is entirely too wholesome.” 😇
If James Dean was the rebel without a cause, Frank James is, like...the obliger with too many causes (all of which he wishes he hadn’t committed himself to). Working title, obviously. 😉😂

@Forever True I always tell Frank that he's like the good twin to my bad twin...but we are both trash people when it comes to loving Coke Zero. He and I did both quit drinking alcohol, though, so I'm gonna cut us a teeny bit of slack for now. One vice at a time. 😂

INTP Rebel. The report is correct: I’ll avoid making commitments in general, and weasel out of those I made and don’t feel like upholding. Which is why I avoid making plans far off into the future, because I tend to get the feel and the final say at the last minute. What gets me upholding my commitments, or trying to foster good habits, is if they make sense for living a good, easier life, and how much i value the relationships involved in my commitments -including my identity, or relationship to myself. But it’s all driven by “want” and “making sense”.

I took the quiz and then came back and watched your video. I have to say I am surprised, I thought you would be a Rebel. I got Rebel, and I can't say I was surprised I knew it would be that or questioner.

Rebel. It says rebels often fustrate themselves. Haha. Well i thought id be the questioner since every little thing makes my mind explode into questions. But rebel is actually kinda obvious for me. Was not as interested in the book til the quiz was telling me how to overcome my own rebellion buy i think it will be a necessary read.

Love your vids! I got Obliger too, and it's bang on with me. I want everyone else to be happy! :) I sent my bf this link. He is struggling with things and found the only way he's succeeding is that he is posting a public diary on forums for accountability. Curious what he gets!

PS: Upholder. Interesting, 'cause usally the worst thing I do to people, when I'm mad, is to stop to do, what they want me to.

  • @xenshi548

I suspected I would get Obliger or Upholder. I received Upholder, and I'm surprised to see it is quite accurate. I feel better when I set schedules and to-do lists for myself, even though I struggle with doing so. The Strategy of Scheduling and Monitoring is very helpful. It's quite interesting to note that Obligers and Upholders aren't that different, the only thing separating is our expectations on self and how we respond to that.
