@@LivingLifetotheFullest-cm2ib So sorry for your loss -- and yes, it is always loss when a loved one dies, at any age. So true.
I am 70 y/o. One thing I have learned is that humans are more flexible that they realize. I have had several careers not because I wanted to change because I had to. Farm labor, flour mill work, clinical pharmacist, large scale organic farmer were some of the major things I did. I would have loved to farm all my life. But I had a special needs child and I needed health insurance. So I went to pharmacy school for three years when I was 34. I studied seven hours a day and finished near the top of my class. Some classmates called me "geezer." I did pharmacy for a number of years and made good money and had health insurance too! When my son got into college he could get insurance, I quit pharmacy and returned to farming. I would not have made all these changes unless I had to do them. One of the things I notice about her is she doesn't get hung up on grief and loss, and I am sure she has had a lifetime of it. That is a tricky one for people to navigate. Grief ages people tremendously. The pain is practically etched on their faces. Finding the joy in living no matter your circumstances is mandatory in living a happy life. There's no getting around it.
Yes, I agree so much. Living so long definitely had some serious bumps on the road. Like she mentioned divorcing in her 70s! I bet she was wishing to care for another when being old, as people do in marriage, and it was taken from her. And she is still quite happy, that's admirable. And brave.
Grief and loss are held in the body, the nervous system, though. I never held on to the multiple losses and all the grief and anger in my life, cognitively. I lived on in joy. But my body knew, and I became extremely ill and housebound at 49 right in the height of a business that was going very well, a beautiful romantic relationship, one child going into grad school, and the other one in high school. I learned that when there's a lot of trauma and stress in your life, your body will break down and get sick. Even if you cognitively do not realize it. I recovered 70%, and did trauma work, slowed down, (no choice), and enjoyed people for the play, not for work, I did not push myself so much and did more things that I truly enjoy. But then I got sick again because of the shutdown, a part time job I loved lost, activities that kept me healthy were gone, and could get my trauma therapy. So this is what confuses me. Our body holds on to the grief, and traumas, etcetera unless we do so many exercises, inner work, etcetera, to get rid of it. Many of us don't hold on to it cognitively, just like I didn't. With this experience and learning about the nervous system, I think there must be something else to this. My grandmother on my dad's side lived to be 1 month shy of 106. Only the fact that she is sitting with 103yo in front of a computer having a zoomcall shows how openminded she is. Positive person, willing to learn and never stop living but waiting for the end.
A lot of what she says reflects exactly what I learned towards my late 20s. I felt trapped in society and took 2 years off of work to just travel, meet new people, work on myself, read many books, built a community wherever I went, etc. Over time, I learned a lot of what she’s saying right now and I’m completely elated to know I’m on the right path. Just had this conversation with my older sister. I told her how I intend to teach me kids that they could travel learn about different cultures and that there is absolutely no rush to settle down

I love this interview. At 103 years old, that woman is sharp and possesses the wisdom gained through maturity. Her '5 L's' lessons in life are truly impactful.
I sat and talked to my wife’s grandfather a couple of years ago before he passed at almost 100. I asked him about his experiences in WWII and he was telling me stories in great detail of bombing missions over Germany in B24s like it was yesterday - It was crazy!
I am in my early 60s and retired at 53. Lots of people gave me pushback because they had difficulty grasping the concept of not working if you don’t have to. I looked at my life as stages. I earned everything I have now through a lot of hard work, but I owe it to myself to “stop and smell the roses” in my final stage of life. In my case I left the country after I retired and live in Latin America. It allowed me to get away from all the negative things happening in America while appreciating my new environment. I have yet to meet anyone who regrets retirement.
Nice way to retire. For me, I believe retirees who struggle to meet their basic needs are the ones who could not accumulate enough money during their active years to meet their needs. Retirement choices determine a lot of things. My wife and I both spent same number of years in the civil service, she invested through a wealth manager and myself through the 401k. We both still earning after our retirement.
This is true. I'm in my mid 40's now. My wife and I were following this same trajectory. Last two years, I pulled out my money and invested with her wealth manager. Not catching up with her profits over the years, but at least I earn more. I'm making money even before retiring, and my retirement fund has grown way more than it would have with just the 401(k). Haha.
It's unfortunate most people don't have such information. I don't really blame people who panic. Lack of information can be a big hurdle. I've been making more than a million dollars by just investing through an advisor, and I don't have to do much work. Doesn't matter if the economy is misbehaving; great wealth managers will always make returns.
I think this is something I should do, but I've been stalling for a long time now. I don't really know which firm to work with; I feel they are all the same but it seems you’ve got it all worked out with the firm you work with so i surely wouldn’t mind a recommendation.
I definitely share your sentiment about these firms. Finding financial advisors like Marisa Breton Dollard who can assist you shape your portfolio would be a very creative option. There will be difficult times ahead, and prudent personal money management will be essential to navigating them.
I've seen several interviews with her. I'm 57 and do a lot of charity work here in Myanmar that gives my life purpose and brings joy to others. I still work full time as a teacher and I taught myself UA-cam.
I am 71. What has surprised me is how much easier it is to enjoy life in older age. Often things that caused me sorrow or anxiety no longer upset me, and I have also made tough decisions. I finally came to grips with the reality that some people in my life are bad for me, treating me as a lesser being or treating my dreams with contempt (narcissistic or borderline personality disorder) and distanced myself from them. These are relatives I loved who used me as a psychological punching bag when their lives disappointed them. I stripped much of the complexity from my life to make it richer (less is more). Being a naturally solitary person, I do not interact much with my community, but I do recognize that it has systems that help me enjoy my life. Even in my unhappiest times, I have loved learning. That helped me return to the light.
This video is going into my "watch later" and "favorites" so i can come back to it over and over...the wisdom she explains is exactly what I need to hear...Thank you!
I love that you spoke with someone who has so much wisdom, which often comes with age and sometimes painful experiences. Doing something you love, and having a community, are both so very important.
I believe she has always been a beautiful being full of light and age has not changed that. Never truer words than if you reach for life life reaches back to you.
How wonderful is it that she was born in India because her parents were missionaries travelling and working across Indian villages and the lesson she keeps saying her mother taught her is actually a Hindi phrase "kuch parwah nahi" which means it doesnt matter as rightly translated by her.
Life is the choices you make, like the internet you can get loss on the superficiality of social media or you can appreciate channels like this one, full of positivity and knowledge.
Gladys mentioned 5L’s: Love, Life, Laughter, Labor, and Listening. The core is all linked to Love. God is Love. He’s the source of energy. We should all connect to God.
Absolutely! Thats whats missing with most people. They have no regard for God and it show NO regard for God. HE is our peacr, joy and true LOVE. God be with all.
God creator who gave us His only son Jesus is our true source of life. “If you have seen me you have seen the Father” He is the epitome of true love - patient, kind, does not envy, does not boast, merciful, humble, yielding, forgiving. “Let everything you do be done in love” May the Lord bless her, clearly He hasn’t called her home yet for a reason.
I came across your channel through this video-case studies are incredibly valuable, and I'm eager to see more in the future! Building wealth involves establishing routines, like consistently setting aside funds at regular intervals for smart investments.
You're correct. I think the smartest way to go is to spread out your investments. By putting your money into different asset classes like bonds, real estate, and stocks from other countries, you can lower the risk if one part of the market goes bad.
That sounds like a good plan. In the past two years, working closely with a financial market specialist, I've built a six-figure diversified stock portfolio. Now, I aim to diversify even more this year.
Talking about a financial market specialist, do you consider anyone worthy of recommendations? I have about 100k to test the waters now that large cap stocks are at a discount... Thanks
My CFA NICOLE ANASTASIA PLUMLEE a renowned figure in her line of work. I recommend researching her credentials further... She has many years of experience and is a valuable resource for anyone looking to navigate the financial market..
This is beautiful. You know who else I'd really like to hear from are people that have been broke for most of their lives. I've heard a lot from folks who are seemingly affluent - not all, of course. But, I would love to hear their perspectives. I think that would be important.
Those stories are so hard for us to tell. It’s a double edged sword. You can’t tell the good news of it without telling the pain. Overcoming dysfunction and poverty is rarely ever done, and it has left me with the perspective that any difficulties I face I have already overcome so much worse. It leaves you knowing, you shouldn’t even be alive, so anything you have is gravy anything you loose job house, anyone you loose by break up or other, I’m too busy being grateful for the time I had it with them to be sad about loosing it. I want to be a loving person regardless that has always been and continues to be the goal. I cherish life no one is promised tomorrow and I try to be in every conversation as if it could be mine or the other person’s last and I don’t want to be responsible for that person having a bad experience. I learned compassion. It’s grueling hard work and I find peace in knowing the rest of my life it’s self is healing because it’s another day of compassion and gratitude. Thank you so much for seeing us.
@@Maderlololohio Yes and the ones that are out there, it’s very painful to revisit. Along with it all, you feel guilty for the ones you left behind. You couldn’t save. When you have reached that point of peace you just want to stay right there. Also for us who have been at the very bottom of society we can relate to most once we are self made, but not many can relate to us. We have had nearly every human experience but most have only known what they have always known. At least this is the feeling we struggle with.

Amazing outlook!! She’s right about every day being a blessing. There’s always something to be thankful for.
Great insights.
“Listening with love is understanding” ❤️
This video is going into my "watch later" and "favorites" so i can come back to it over and over...the wisdom she explains is exactly what I need to hear...Thank you!
I love that you spoke with someone who has so much wisdom, which often comes with age and sometimes painful experiences. Doing something you love, and having a community, are both so very important.
Her mental acuity is remarkable! Good interview, Sprouht!
this lady is the ICONIC physician, Dr. Gladys McGarey
Explain pls... for those of us who hv never heard of her, this would be very interesting...
if I close my eyes I feel like I'm listening to a 30something-year old woman. What a lovely soul filled with so much wisdom.
I believe she has always been a beautiful being full of light and age has not changed that. Never truer words than if you reach for life life reaches back to you.
She’s wonderful, and her words are true. I am 74 and living my best life.🌵💙🐣🌷
Thanks!
5 L’s. Not forgetting that. What an incredible teacher.
Absolutely.
Life and love,
Laughter,
Labor,
and Listening (with love, which is understanding)
How wonderful is it that she was born in India because her parents were missionaries travelling and working across Indian villages and the lesson she keeps saying her mother taught her is actually a Hindi phrase "kuch parwah nahi" which means it doesnt matter as rightly translated by her.
I can’t imagine being that sharp and agile at that age. Incredible
Life is the choices you make, like the internet you can get loss on the superficiality of social media or you can appreciate channels like this one, full of positivity and knowledge.
The 5 L's are truly awesome and how this woman connected them or intertwined them is just purely amazing.
Amazing woman . Sharp . Smart . Lively
Find what you love & love it to pieces….WOW!
Joy is the answer. We must find our authentic joy
JES❤S IS J🎉Y
So much better than a younger person with a message. This human has wisdom of over a century under her belt.
Bless this woman!
"find what you love and love it to pieces"
Some people work the job they love, other people work the job they have to work.
Work till 70 ,75. Be responsible , dont quit,..for your brain health...whatever you do do it wifh passion
God be with all.
you had me until “god.” you don’t have to believe in a god to be connected to any of the aforementioned Ls.
There's no god silly
I have read her book and keep it in my library. “The Well Lived Life” highly recommend.
After 70 years of marriage one day out of nowhere her husband asked for a divorce....Her attitude of just let it go saved her life.
Her ex husband is also deceased during this interview
She was 70 when he asked for a divorce, not after 70 y of marriage.
@@Deanrileyso the secret to longevity is to get married as young as possible, 0 being ideal
The secret to live long is avoid men!
Bless you sisters❤
Life, Laughter, Labor, Listening, and doing it all with Love! Thank you for that reminder Dr. Gladys McGarey. ❤❤❤
This lady talks exactly as I do. Same attitude. I hope she lives at least for another 50 years.
Thank you for this Pointer. It was easy to find your handler, She seems very proficient and flexible. I booked a call session with her.
Same here. I would like to hear from those who didn’t have a lot but made it theough
They don't live as long. Being rich brings along less stress, being more physically active, more hobbies, better food. It's been well documented
At least this is the feeling we struggle with.
and this proves affluent people are just as ordinary as any. The human experience applies to all!
Just what I needed...thank you ffor shining your light on me this morning Gladys 🙏 💕 🇨🇦 Sending love and laughter to you, beautiful lady!
she said it all so beautifully.
love strong willed people like her.
Beautiful she is . Bless her heart.
Your interviews are so great. Thank you for doing what you do.
Gladys is amazing! Love this interview!
She is incredible. The music playing is distracting.
yes, the music is too loud.
These videos bring me back to reality when sometimes everything feels important. These are the real life priorities! Thanks
She should run for president.
Or be an advisor to them.
Wow amazing person and she is smarter then Harris
Moving, shifting, and reaching for the light.
Smile like she does and be content like she is!

I didn't catch her name. She's truly amazing.
What a nice, wise woman she is! Bless you!
Amazing woman. What a fool her ex was.
How do you know?
Everybody comes into our lives for a reason and maybe she wouldn’t be who she is now if he had stayed ❤

My gram passed at 103, I was able to spend the last 3 years around her and I am so grateful for this. I talk to her all the time. Thank you, this woman is awesome.
God bless this woman...She is approximately the same age as my Grandmother. My grandmother was a tough woman from a tough generation, Who always had good wisdom to impart. I really miss her,
Omg❤look at her❤..such a magical lady..she bought me goosebumps..I am 60 now and I want you go far like her.WOW..We have to keep moving n reaching to light🎉LOVE N LOVE INTO PIECES ❤
Words of life's wisdom. Thank you miss. God bless you with His love and salvation.
I agree we need more of a community mind set. Our elders can provide so much insight to the younger generation. We need to find a way to connect and gain knowledge and perspective in life. Loved this segment ❤
I am half her age. But I have been through a lot. My life is finally happy. Forgive and apologize. Help others.,Be kind. Don’t lose your faith. Don’t lose your smile and laughter. And live in the moment.
Very wise woman. God bless her with continued happiness.
I love listening to this generation. A lot can be learned from them.
She's showing anyone who listens how to love to survive. Oh my. What a beautiful goddess!
Gladys is speaking Hindi. When she says in the beginning that the secret to old life is to drop things that do not matter "Kuch Parwa nahin". That means either her or her mother lived in India....Love you Gladys....❤
She said her childhood was spent in India
What a gorgeous, empathic goddess! Bless you Dr. McGarey.
Awesome life giving wisdom, thank you
Thank you, thank you for doing these interviews. They are wonderful, and I always walk away with a lesson learned.
Gladys, thank you for teaching me the most!
I'm 66 and my passion is to help and be there for elderly with needs, even if it means companionship.
Love you and always be kind!❤
I listened to a 102 yr old Asian woman say the same thing the other day without hesitation. She said “community”, but in Japanese or something.
OMG, This woman is so wise and beautiful!! Congratulations to you and your life and your legacy!! ❤️
Listening without love is empty. Wow.
