    Banging pod. Tyres are a bigger factor in terms of wattage loss than the difference between all the frames. If you're not on corsa speed or conti TR you are giving away multiple watts. (Worse than aero losses too, because rolling drag is always there!). Other than that LR is dead right. Its performance engineering and bike fit/science. That's what makes the difference. If you have a Bigham you're off to a good start. Got a big video coming on pro team kit coming soon. Hopefully better organised than dowsetts.

      Finally, I'm sick to death of all this repeated cycling tech brand worship. If it's not based on solid independent testing, it's either pointless individual opinion, or more likely shills repeating marketing BS. Bust these damn myths.

    • @briancase_rideaperture
      @briancase_rideaperture Рік тому +6

      @@KetzalSterling Agree in part, but be careful what you ask for. PT's salty videos on the new sram mtb derailleur standard in which he made several incorrect assumptions based on internet photos (never seeing the design in person) and his "engineering expertise" ...led folks astray, and got everyone riled up over non-existent design flaws. I think he, Hambini, and the like are a bit of a road show just trying to get viewers angry about everything - in exchange for clicks. Not my favorite corner of cycling youtube.

    To summarise how w/kg is calculated it is not exactly what the rider did but a theoretical model of what it would be like for a 60kg rider could do. For heavier riders the bike is a smaller percentage of system mass therefore required less w/kg to go same speed as lighter rider. So example, if a 70kg rider reportedly did 7w/kg according to the model, because the model is of a 60kg rider then the 70kg rider may have done less actual w/kg 6.8w/kg for example.

The format is great (especially recently with the guest speakers). The balance between performance and general road cycling content is good. Especially for us wannabe pro cyclists. The length of these are perfect for those 1 hour rides I try to slot in during the day so do keep them coming. I do like the different perspectives across different regions/countries on their perception of cycling. Keep these coming! It would be interesting to see some Asia based content also as there's a lot of Brand Whoring out here :)

    I think the craze about the Tarmac Sl7 it's because it's consistently one of the lightest frames (check all the people on weightweenies that have real scale shots) but it's still up there slightly below full aero bikes on the Tour magazine wind tunnel test.
    Aeroad 204w
    older S5 205w
    Dogma F 208w
    Sl7 210w
    I've also tested the sl7 in the wind tunnel against the new v4rs for Colnago and the specy was faster but wheels definitely make a bigger difference and those rovals are very very fast. Also the UAE Enves are extremely aero.

    Cube generally is completely underestimated. Top values on paper and comparatively actually affordable for the top models here in Germany (don't know how export works). They sell you an 7.5kg full on aero bike with deep carbon wheels and second tier electronic groupset for under 5k even after inflation.
    And if you're willing to accept the 200 extra grams to dura ace, you could probably ride that thing in TDF no problem

    One comment on your question about teams wanting to make sure riders like Jay have burnt a certain number of calories before the final climb. The premiss question doesn’t make sense. At rider at a certain weight and consistent conditions will always burn the same amount of calories for a given distance, doesn’t matter if they go 10km/h or 50. Doesn’t mean the race can’t be made harder by pacing and attacks, but calories will be the same.
