This is cool. I’m a couple generations older than you guys and my race bikes have never had bars narrower than 42, my typical stem length has been 90 and my cranks are 172.5. What’s funny is I absolutely know somebody a generation from now will be listening to your choices and biases and think, wow, those guys rode wonky bikes! Love it. BTW, my newest bike is an Aspero full mechanical with a gravel set up and a road set up with 30mm C36 wheels. As a road bike it weights 18 pounds. Heaviest road bike I’ve owned in decades, but sooooo much fun and comfort.
For the Cannondale debate, a relevant data point is the German magazine Tour just aero-tested the gen 4 Supersix Evo and it's right up there with the Canyon Aeroad's and Cervelo S5's of the world, despite being a light-weight "all-arounder". And that was without the integrated bar that comes on the top-end specs. I think you get the best of both worlds with the new SSE, Ben Healy notwithstanding.
You mention bar width, the market is stuck 20+yrs behind. Recently watched some early 2000's tdf stuff and what stood out were the wide bars and setbacks.
I love Cam getting the BMC gig, he's one of the channels I go to for his opinions on bikes. You mention Francis and Vegan, I go to them more for the entertainment, although Francis is focusing more of gear than the vlog side of it, recently.
Click bait titles will grab some initial viewers, but it's the quality of the material and presentation which keeps them coming back, as in "subscribed". I don't remember what got me to initially watch your show, but I now look forward to your weekly presentation as a breath of fresh air for cycling content. Oh, and I'm glad Remco pulled out after getting sick. It was a logical move for his own health, and to stay in the race would have endangered other cyclists. Covid is contagious. That's just my 70 year old cycling fan opinion.
Hey guys, just wanted to point out that the Gen 7 Madone (newest one) has a significant flare to the drops. So the hoods are 3cm in from the drops. In real world terms, a 54 comes with 42cm bars, but the hoods measure 39cm. Great podcast as usual!
I have got a 2021 BMC timemachine who h replaced a 2019 Teammachine bit disc. Both fast, both awesome bikes. Honestly the Teammachine did climb a little better when out of the saddle but the timemachine is fast on the rolling and flat roads. I was told the timemachine was as a harsh ride but I find it fine on long rides. Love the BMC brand and it’s so good to see Cam with a sponsorship from them. Worth remembering he has always been a fan and has made multiple vids declaring the bmc as one of his favourite bikes so seeing him sponsored now shouldn’t take away from his honesty.
Let’s talk about tristantakesvideos channel. You have never noticed this one. Ok the content is sponsored most of the time but the quality of the videos is sooooo sick (footage, music, content,…..). For Chris watching UA-cam on his tv, you will like this one if you have never watched it.
Glad to hear the Orca Aero shout out. I went for it over the BMC TMR (Having been on a '12 TMR prior) mainly because of the $5k USD difference in price for the same finishing kit, but also a bit of that pro-team lack of use concern. Happy to see that the Orca Aero has found success mostly with the Cerazit WNT team and a bit with Euskatel, but mainly the fact that it could survive Roubaix. Also, Orbea allows you to spec any handlebar width, stem length, and crank length with your order which saves your point on the second segment discussion.

So interesting, the chat about the frames being different for pro riders. You've only got to look at this year's Cannondale range where they've got the LAB 71, Evo Hi-Mod and Evo - 'same bike', completely different... bike...? That's how easy it is to lay up different versions; if you can do it on a mass scale, it's easy to do it for a handful of bikes for the pro teams. I echoed this sentiment in the comments of a video a while back after Hambini basically said the frames the pros are on are 'specials' and definitely not what you buy at the store, and I got shot down, probably by dentists who can't stand to not have EXACTLY what the pros have, and doubted myself. Now I hear this UCI chat and weight discrepancy thing with Froome's bike, and it just bringing me back to believing it again.
Great pod Lads, I was also so just having this conversation yesterday. Ben Healy’s bike is fantastic, the components are great, however you just can’t get them! I looked for the vision 4D bars and the narrowest I could get were 40’s! It’s terribly frustrating when bikes come with wide bars and short stems! Factor are now offering pretty much every option now which is great and hopefully everyone will follow suit. I think we may be a small minority however who love the small bars and long stem. Most blokes who I ask out on the bunch rides what bar width etc they run they don’t have the foggiest. I think most blokes just run what the bike comes with. Johnathan Skinner was so far ahead of the game, the man was running 36cm bars and deep wheels about 8 years ago and aero was everything to him. He was so fast on that p5 and s5. Arguably still one of the fastest bikes today.
Coming from an mtb background. The short track is weird, but it's usually better than that one was. Pidcock is real deal. He also rides downhill mtb and absolutely has skills, but many others there do as well. Nino and others can take the fight to him at other venues I'm sure.
I put a 36cm aero bar on mine a few weeks back (I'm 5'9, smallish build, just went super narrow via an online purchase without testing it for feel first)... it fits like an absolute glove and now anything bigger feels really unnatural to me. Even sprinting feels better than the 42cm bars that were on the bike before.
I think you guys should cycle in Vancouver in November/December/January/ February in our rains and do some climbing up to 2500meters and understand what it’s like to have cold hands and body. Rather than commentating from Australia where to be truthful it’s not that cold. Love your program and chats! Keep up the good work.
I think mountain bike UA-camrs are sooo ahead of road cycling UA-camrs in terms of being connected to the industry. Many UA-camrs in the Mtb scene have affiliations with fork companies, with frame companies, tyre companies, nutrition and clothing….. and many do it in a tactful manner
On the bars: most of the riders in our group changed to smaller bars and turn the hoods in a bit to be more comfortable in aero hoods position. Plus the straight line from your shoulders or even slightly inwards feels way more comfortable than outwards
Hey guys, great show! I just want to add my 2 cent for the factor bike being slower, I had a regular build last year on the Ostro with the forty five and I did find it a bit sluggish. This year I did a full custom build with the Zipp 454 NSW and it’s completely a different ride now. I know a few guys that did wheel upgrades and went with the Firecrest or the Roval rapid so you don’t have to go to very top end to make that bike faster . Black inc are a great wheel but if you’re trying to race they will hold you back.

Your comment that it has left a bitter taste is sadly near the truth. The conditions have been awful but I wonder whether they have been bad in past years and it just haven't had the coverage? But I think the racing has been amazing, though I would query whether it has always been safe. Jesse 1. Didnt you say you wouldn't be comfortable riding a no name bike? Really? So if somebody gave you a C68 without the badges on, you wouldn't be happy? 2. TCR. It looks good. I ride a rim bike and although I accept that braking in the wet is better with discs, I try not to ride in the wet and rim brakes seemed fine for the Pro Tour until 2 years ago. Now the area of concern is carbon rims. One of your countrymen Luescher Teknik scared me off carbon rims: delamination, blow outs etc. What's your take? Both: 1. Pro bikes, the reality. Can of worms. I believe a con of epic proportions has been and is being carried out. I think that many Pro bikes are specially made by companies trying to convince people that 'the bike they ride, you can buy'. It's appalling. I don't believe that all manufacturers are affected, maybe not Pinarello and not TIME, whose bikes are manufactured in France using a different technique. It should be stopped but it will hurt Specialized, Canyon, Cannondale and Giant et Al. Let's see but you should run with this. 2. Covid. Totally agree with what you said. Covid knocked me over for several days. Can you imagine being forced to ride in those circumstances and in that terrible weather?! A little dangerous. 3. Deliveroo couriers. I think the spinning around on the pavements reflects badly on everybody My only moment of amusement was when Matt Stevens did a cafe ride with Ethan Hayter, and you see a Deliveroo ebike gradually catch and overtake them to their obvious surprise. I'd ride the Ridley Noah (rim-brake) over a disc model. I remember Ridley did something clever with the brakes up front by hiding it within the fork assembly.
Hey on the point of what makes the bike faster... I had a revelation of sorts: So about two weeks ago. Had some hamstring fatigue on ride over 2 hours and lowered my seat post by 1-2mm. Outcome? Before NP301w for 2 1/2 hours now 321W NP for the same loop. That is from one ride to the next. Did a few more on that loop just to make sure. Result is consistent 20-25w more! Blew my mind!
For handlebar, pros are free to choose all sizes. But as end-users we often do not have any choice. Hence I just bought ENVE Melee which let me choose handlebar size. (and type of handlebar I want) ENVE is known for selling narrow size handlebar.
Glad you bought this up about the giant propel as I bought one the day they were released and went with small as it fit in with my bike fit perfectly except the reach was a little too small but I thought, new stem…bikes perfect. Months later and there are still no stems available so I’m having to rock the 90mm when I want the 120mm…definitely thought they would have some available right now…very annoying! 🤦🏻♂️
The wind hits the cross section of your arms. Whether you move them closer or wider. The additional drag is the Δ of the additional cross section of the bar. Going even more complex, the wind flow after passing your arms must be smartly directed afterward. So far as I know. Re. Aero bike w wider handlebar is similar to sports car with auto transmission & being more driver friendly. No casual rider can drive pure sports car efficiently. The same goes with handlebar width. The wider the less nervous you steer the bike.
I'd love to have a stock Pinarello Dogma F to compare it to my mine which was the reserve bike of Tom Pidcock. And it doesn't stop with the frames. My Pinarello came with Lightweight Meilenstein Obermayer and the quick release skewers from lightweight are less than half the weight of the "normal" ones.
I love that we don't have an monopoly in content creator's bike sponsors, if you look across the space including delving into the triathlon bike sponsors there is a wide range of companies represented in both established and newer bike content creators. Alex Dowsett, I thought he would go with Factor given that he was on Factor for his hour record and Factor sponsors another individual (Phil Gaimon). Cam one was obvious. Others are just happy to see that it isn't all focused towards one popular bike sponsor company like Canyon. Pro level spec testing, when was the announcement? I haven't heard about this. I did see a discussion on r/velo about how none of the new TT helmets are available to purchase when they should be according to UCI rules, which could be hinted at with how you said that Track stuff is notorious to get at the consumer level. Even switching over the Grio weather gear, I think there was a couple of stealth drops since they weren't available on the kit's site that were being used in the Grio, not sure about this though. I do know that the reason why they wear the black is that is whats best for the weather and dye doesn't work well so that is why it looks like crappy printing of white letters on an otherwise black jacket.
Interesting, I run a time-machine 2022. The clearance says '28s' but I run tyres measuring up to 32 no issues. The area it might fall down is that there's a plastic cover over the front disc brake which is borderline UCI illegal which is why I believe less people run the bike.
I was lucky enough to be at the XC in Nové Město na Moravě and watch the whole show. Yes, it's cool and it makes you shake your head what these guys (including women) are capable of riding. Believe me, it's really nowhere near as dramatic on TV as it is in person. 😅 On the other hand, when you see the effort in riders' faces, you think, "That's really fckin hard work!" 🤣 The best part of it all is that most of the racers are out in public before and after the race. I got a picture like this with Puck Pieterse (who won the women's race), or Fem van Empel, for example. If you can, take a trip to the Czech Republic. Vysočina aréna (the place where XC and biatlon races take place) is renowned for its great atmosphere and it's relatively cheap. You won't regret it. 😊
Why doesn’t Merida get any love ? Two stage wins so far at the Giro, great bikes, super quick and nobody ever mentions them. Both the Reacto and the Scultura. FYI Merida owns Specialized.

I want an all round bike that’s light enough to climb really well and fast enough on the flat. Hence why I’ll be getting a tarmac and getting rid of my Aeroad. I’m an all round rider at 70kg and 186cm and want a bike that reflects how I want to race
Agree on the bars / stem issues particularly with the integrated cockpits. I sit between a 51 or 54 frame. If I go with a 51, I might get the 170 cranks I use and probably a 40cm bar (I ride 36's) and the stem will be a 90 making a bike that's on the smaller fit even smaller. Go up a size and the cranks will be too long and a 42cm bar.
Next show: 2023 ETRTO hookless recommendation now removes 28mm tire from Hookless strait side 25mm internal rims compatibility. Now 29mm minimum. Too many blow offs at 28mm? 🤔

Cannondale Supersix EVO (Gen4), was just tested by Tour Mag, and with 207 Watts, its pretty fast. Same level as most full on aero frames, faster then Tarmac SL7 and Dogma.
Ribble Ultra SLR is an amazing bike and it’s comfortable, I just raced mine 200 miles across Florida, Enve 6.7s with Conti STR 25mm, definitely the most underrated bike out
with the pro specific equipment, it comes down to whether they are making custom items for pros, or, if they are just taking the best QC items and passing them to the pros. so you get the same frame, its just yours didnt QC as well so its designated "consumer grade" instead of "pro grade"
Narrow bars for road bikes will just get narrower until it gets ridiculous. Same as wider bars for MTBs during the 00s. 710mm-750mm was a sweet-spot for most but it got to 800mm, almost unrideable and ridiculous for most people. Save your money and wait for the marketing hype of ever narrowing bars to settle down, or maybe just measure your shoulder width and ignore. There's a huge difference between wind-tunnel gains and enjoying riding down mountain twisties. There's no point in gaining 2 watts with your hyper fashionable 32cm bars when you can't ride it round a corner and ride over a cliff and die.
Love you guys brought up the Venge Vias. I have one and you are spot on. The brakes don't work. They are a pain to work on and it must be my most cussed bike. But I love it. It is the fastest bike I have (probably because the brakes don't work) and amazingly light. But would I buy one again? A slight maybe😂😂😂
Disc brakes are causing all the crashes. This is the first Grand Tour that has been consistently wet since they became commonplace. There's not enough traction for all that braking power. They might get used to them over the years but, it's definitely the brakes!
im in the market for a new bike myself and im willing to drop 10k (euros) on it but i have the same problem that you guys mentioned. they all come with 40-42 bars (on a small frame) and with the full integration you cannot just swap out your bar and that is a shame. i think they really need to step up their game in that regard. crank length and barwidth/stemlength should be mandatory options on every bike especially on the fully integrated ones. i wanted to buy a V4RS at my LBS 2 weeks ago. size 52ish (effective top tube) and the shop got it with 175 cranks (yes im not joking you) and a 42mm bar. i mean i simply cannot ride it. im not dropping another 2k euros on a new bar/stem + new crankset and the shops tell me they have to sell it as they come. thats why im heavily leaning towards canyon now (just waiting for the new aeroad to release)
You can buy ex team bikes. I have Sam Oomens Sunweb R5 . No special sleeves, just a lot of chipped paint - may be didn't run a chain protector to save weight, but that's it.
I know everybody’s tired of talking about it, but I think that disc brakes are to blame for some of the crashes in the Giro. Clearly disc brakes are great for stopping but when you stop that quickly on a wet surface, the kinetic energy has to go somewhere.
Get on the MTB game boys. It's great fun. It's just another toy in your arsenal of bike riding. You might not touch it every week, but for example I was at Mt Stromlo last weekend, some amazing XC riding there. There's quite a racing calendar too. You just may have to tolerate w few more tumbles. 😬

I've had a lot of time on PZero and GP5000 and noticed very little difference in straight line speed
I think you guys should cycle in Vancouver in November/December/January/ February in our rains and do some climbing up to 2500meters and understand what it’s like to have cold hands and body. Rather than commentating from Australia where to be truthful it’s not that cold. Love your program and chats! Keep up the good work.

I think mountain bike UA-camrs are sooo ahead of road cycling UA-camrs in terms of being connected to the industry. Many UA-camrs in the Mtb scene have affiliations with fork companies, with frame companies, tyre companies, nutrition and clothing….. and many do it in a tactful manner

On the bars: most of the riders in our group changed to smaller bars and turn the hoods in a bit to be more comfortable in aero hoods position. Plus the straight line from your shoulders or even slightly inwards feels way more comfortable than outwards

I just want to add my 2 cent for the factor bike being slower, I had a regular build last year on the Ostro with the forty five and I did find it a bit sluggish. This year I did a full custom build with the Zipp 454 NSW and it’s completely a different ride now. I know a few guys that did wheel upgrades and went with the Firecrest or the Roval rapid so you don’t have to go to very top end to make that bike faster . Black inc are a great wheel but if you’re trying to race they will hold you back.

Baden Cook then came onboard and all manufacturing was moved to China because of cheaper production costs.
The original company is f1 systems who also made the £25k Aston Martin bike

With wide bars as std it is easy to shorten brake lines etc if you fit narrow bars, going the other way is a major PITA.

Been a while since I commented but have had one or two things floating around over the last few episodes:
1. Chris Miller:
- The bike is stunning. The graphics in the frame wrap awesome. Liked the family involvement.
2. Toe covers. What! Spoken like a man who doesn't live in a climate where they are a god send.
3. GIRO. Your comment that it has left a bitter taste is sadly near the truth. The conditions have been awful but I wonder whether they have been bad in past years and it just haven't had the coverage? But I think the racing has been amazing, though I would query whether it has always been safe.

1. Didnt you say you wouldn't be comfortable riding a no name bike? Really? So if somebody gave you a C68 without the badges on, you wouldn't be happy?
2. TCR. It looks good. I ride a rim bike and although I accept that braking in the wet is better with discs, I try not to ride in the wet and rim brakes seemed fine for the Pro Tour until 2 years ago. Now the area of concern is carbon rims. One of your countrymen Luescher Teknik scared me off carbon rims: delamination, blow outs etc. What's your take?
Both:
1. Pro bikes, the reality. Can of worms. I believe a con of epic proportions has been and is being carried out. I think that many Pro bikes are specially made by companies trying to convince people that 'the bike they ride, you can buy'. It's appalling. I don't believe that all manufacturers are affected, maybe not Pinarello and not TIME, whose bikes are manufactured in France using a different technique. It should be stopped but it will hurt Specialized, Canyon, Cannondale and Giant et Al. Let's see but you should run with this.
2. Covid. Totally agree with what you said. Covid knocked me over for several days. Can you imagine being forced to ride in those circumstances and in that terrible weather?! A little dangerous.
3. Deliveroo couriers. I think the spinning around on the pavements reflects badly on everybody
My only moment of amusement was when Matt Stevens did a cafe ride with Ethan Hayter, and you see a Deliveroo ebike gradually catch and overtake them to their obvious surprise.

I'd ride the Ridley Noah (rim-brake) over a disc model. I remember Ridley did something clever with the brakes up front by hiding it within the fork assembly.
Hey on the point of what makes the bike faster... I had a revelation of sorts: So about two weeks ago. Had some hamstring fatigue on ride over 2 hours and lowered my seat post by 1-2mm. Outcome? Before NP301w for 2 1/2 hours now 321W NP for the same loop. That is from one ride to the next. Did a few more on that loop just to make sure. Result is consistent 20-25w more! Blew my mind!

For handlebar, pros are free to choose all sizes. But as end-users we often do not have any choice.
Hence I just bought ENVE Melee which let me choose handlebar size. (and type of handlebar I want)
ENVE is known for selling narrow size handlebar.

Glad you bought this up about the giant propel as I bought one the day they were released and went with small as it fit in with my bike fit perfectly except the reach was a little too small but I thought, new stem…bikes perfect. Months later and there are still no stems available so I’m having to rock the 90mm when I want the 120mm…definitely thought they would have some available right now…very annoying! 🤦🏻♂️
The wind hits the cross section of your arms. Whether you move them closer or wider. The additional drag is the Δ of the additional cross section of the bar. Going even more complex, the wind flow after passing your arms must be smartly directed afterward. So far as I know.
Re. Aero bike w wider handlebar is similar to sports car with auto transmission & being more driver friendly. No casual rider can drive pure sports car efficiently. The same goes with handlebar width. The wider the less nervous you steer the bike.
I'd love to have a stock Pinarello Dogma F to compare it to my mine which was the reserve bike of Tom Pidcock.
And it doesn't stop with the frames. My Pinarello came with Lightweight Meilenstein Obermayer and the quick release skewers from lightweight are less than half the weight of the "normal" ones.

I love that we don't have an monopoly in content creator's bike sponsors, if you look across the space including delving into the triathlon bike sponsors there is a wide range of companies represented in both established and newer bike content creators.
Alex Dowsett, I thought he would go with Factor given that he was on Factor for his hour record and Factor sponsors another individual (Phil Gaimon). Cam one was obvious. Others are just happy to see that it isn't all focused towards one popular bike sponsor company like Canyon.
Pro level spec testing, when was the announcement? I haven't heard about this. I did see a discussion on r/velo about how none of the new TT helmets are available to purchase when they should be according to UCI rules, which could be hinted at with how you said that Track stuff is notorious to get at the consumer level.
Even switching over the Grio weather gear, I think there was a couple of stealth drops since they weren't available on the kit's site that were being used in the Grio, not sure about this though. I do know that the reason why they wear the black is that is whats best for the weather and dye doesn't work well so that is why it looks like crappy printing of white letters on an otherwise black jacket.
Interesting, I run a time-machine 2022. The clearance says '28s' but I run tyres measuring up to 32 no issues. The area it might fall down is that there's a plastic cover over the front disc brake which is borderline UCI illegal which is why I believe less people run the bike.
I was lucky enough to be at the XC in Nové Město na Moravě and watch the whole show. Yes, it's cool and it makes you shake your head what these guys (including women) are capable of riding. Believe me, it's really nowhere near as dramatic on TV as it is in person. 😅 On the other hand, when you see the effort in riders' faces, you think, "That's really fckin hard work!" 🤣
The best part of it all is that most of the racers are out in public before and after the race. I got a picture like this with Puck Pieterse (who won the women's race), or Fem van Empel, for example.
If you can, take a trip to the Czech Republic. Vysočina aréna (the place where XC and biatlon races take place) is renowned for its great atmosphere and it's relatively cheap. You won't regret it. 😊

Why doesn’t Merida get any love ? Two stage wins so far at the Giro, great bikes, super quick and nobody ever mentions them. Both the Reacto and the Scultura. FYI Merida owns Specialized.
they don’t own specialized in its entirety, but yes specialized frames and Merida frames are made in the same factory. I agree

I want an all round bike that’s light enough to climb really well and fast enough on the flat. Hence why I’ll be getting a tarmac and getting rid of my Aeroad. I’m an all round rider at 70kg and 186cm and want a bike that reflects how I want to race
Agree on the bars / stem issues particularly with the integrated cockpits. I sit between a 51 or 54 frame. If I go with a 51, I might get the 170 cranks I use and probably a 40cm bar (I ride 36's) and the stem will be a 90 making a bike that's on the smaller fit even smaller. Go up a size and the cranks will be too long and a 42cm bar.

Cannondale Supersix EVO (Gen4), was just tested by Tour Mag, and with 207 Watts, its pretty fast. Same level as most full on aero frames, faster then Tarmac SL7 and Dogma.

Ribble Ultra SLR is an amazing bike and it’s comfortable, I just raced mine 200 miles across Florida, Enve 6.7s with Conti STR 25mm, definitely the most underrated bike out
with the pro specific equipment, it comes down to whether they are making custom items for pros, or, if they are just taking the best QC items and passing them to the pros. so you get the same frame, its just yours didnt QC as well so its designated "consumer grade" instead of "pro grade"

Narrow bars for road bikes will just get narrower until it gets ridiculous. Same as wider bars for MTBs during the 00s. 710mm-750mm was a sweet-spot for most but it got to 800mm, almost unrideable and ridiculous for most people.
Save your money and wait for the marketing hype of ever narrowing bars to settle down, or maybe just measure your shoulder width and ignore. There's a huge difference between wind-tunnel gains and enjoying riding down mountain twisties. There's no point in gaining 2 watts with your hyper fashionable 32cm bars when you can't ride it round a corner and ride over a cliff and die.

Love you guys brought up the Venge Vias. I have one and you are spot on. The brakes don't work. They are a pain to work on and it must be my most cussed bike. But I love it. It is the fastest bike I have (probably because the brakes don't work) and amazingly light. But would I buy one again? A slight maybe😂😂😂
Most hypothermia deaths occur in -5 to 5C. But the wet is the main factor.

Disc brakes are causing all the crashes. This is the first Grand Tour that has been consistently wet since they became commonplace. There's not enough traction for all that braking power. They might get used to them over the years but, it's definitely the brakes!
im in the market for a new bike myself and im willing to drop 10k (euros) on it but i have the same problem that you guys mentioned. they all come with 40-42 bars (on a small frame) and with the full integration you cannot just swap out your bar and that is a shame. i think they really need to step up their game in that regard. crank length and barwidth/stemlength should be mandatory options on every bike especially on the fully integrated ones.
i wanted to buy a V4RS at my LBS 2 weeks ago. size 52ish (effective top tube) and the shop got it with 175 cranks (yes im not joking you) and a 42mm bar. i mean i simply cannot ride it. im not dropping another 2k euros on a new bar/stem + new crankset and the shops tell me they have to sell it as they come.
thats why im heavily leaning towards canyon now (just waiting for the new aeroad to release)
No idea how THAT model fairs size-wize, but Canyon are famous for having big frames, be careful 😅

You can buy ex team bikes. I have Sam Oomens Sunweb R5 . No special sleeves, just a lot of chipped paint - may be didn't run a chain protector to save weight, but that's it.

I know everybody’s tired of talking about it, but I think that disc brakes are to blame for some of the crashes in the Giro. Clearly disc brakes are great for stopping but when you stop that quickly on a wet surface, the kinetic energy has to go somewhere.
Get on the MTB game boys. It's great fun. It's just another toy in your arsenal of bike riding. You might not touch it every week, but for example I was at Mt Stromlo last weekend, some amazing XC riding there. There's quite a racing calendar too. You just may have to tolerate w few more tumbles. 😬
