Some kids just don’t eat, has nothing to do with being full. So that’s why this is a tough subject to agree/disagree on. Realistically just because it’s made a handful of people 600 lbs, that doesn’t usually happen. If anything, what usually happens is you grow resentment for the food you were forced to eat, not eat everything in your path. I do agree with no forcing kids to eat food because of resentment of food (which is more likely) but is it likely to be 600 lbs because your parents forced you to eat? Not really. Like if anything, the main cause is sexual/mental/physical abuse. The “my mom made me eat my whole plate” would seem like a crutch to me. 🤷🏻♀️

I think where Dr. Now goes wrong is he should always have every patient in therapy from the start. You don't get that heavy without a serious food addiction. We treat every other kind of addiction with therapy so why would this be different? They need help finding healthy coping strategies and a lot of these people have a history of sexual, physical, or mental abuse that they need to process and overcome

They meet with the doctor, and in order to be safe and have the highest chance to survival during surgery, they need to hit a certain weight. In order for the doctor to know they will try their hardest and they have stopped allowing their binging to control them, they need to lose a certain amount of weight. The doctor gives them a special diet plan, down to the examples of what they are allowed to eat, they are shown exercises, and told what TO and NOT to do. They also meet with psychologists. If the people cannot even commit to a 20 lb weight loss, which for someone that size is absolutely nothing, then they will fail in taking care of their wounds, and will risk rupture of their stomachs after surgery. If their self control is so low that they cannot even lose weight with all that is available to them, then they will not qualify for the surgery and program. You can talk to as many therapists and psychologists as you wish, it will always be up to YOU to make whatever changes need to be made. No amount of therapy is ever enough.

Heres a bigger surprise. There was an arabian kid aged 22, reached the weight 1345 pounds! And two years later and under careful observation, the kid lost all the weight.
People need to understand that it doesn't take just physical strength to lose weight, it's also the emotional and mental strength that has to come with losing weight

It would seem they think that they have to take a dump, but it's really giving birth. As for having sex, you'd practically have to pour flour onto their body and look for the wet spots.
I may be way out of day medical treatment wise. But I was told that the Dr. had to stitch the layers of fat so they would remain steady. OK but it did make some sense when you think about it. A "V" birth would seem more dangerous for the baby. The comment about taking a dump versus labor pains , WRONG, the pain totally different . I can't remember if it was a male or female but you CAN tell the difference.
Its extra sad when they get that big because of the comfort from sexual abuse they suffered. Poor things :( its somthing that takes a tole on the mind and body...when i was assaulted I remember wanting nothing more then to sit in yhe shower and eat things that made me happy... i gain 65 lbs that year. Terrible to say, but these are the shows that motivate me into sticking with a diet and into going to the gym religiously. So far so good--I've got a pretty slim physique for a person my age (I have some abs!). These morbidly obese people are MISERABLE. And the last thing I want is to end up like them, a prisoner in my own body.

But complex carbs like brown rice and oatmeal and whole grains takes your body longer to use so it isnt so much of an insulin hit. Your body still turns it to.glucose but it takes longer. Dairy isnt a bad thing but it can just be high in calories. Greek yogurt is a GREAT option. Super high in protein and very very healthy!

I helped my roommate lose weight. I have my own method, but everyone is different. I just eat whatever I want on the agreement with myself that 5 miles will be walked and 2 of those are to be ran. I started him off with McDonalds. He would always eat there anyway, but walking there and walking back would put a small dent in the calorie intake and the brain will start associating the burger with exercise. He took off, 3 months of walking, then running half way, then running all the way there. He moved and we only text on occasion, i just hope hes still happy and healthy.
I’m sure they get food stamps, which doesn’t pay for fast food. At the same time, it’s my understanding that they don’t really receive all that much in food stamps. So I can’t figure out how they afford it either. Obviously none of them work.

I'm 11 years old (12 this year) and I'm 75-80lbs. Somewhere around there. People say I'm underweight but I eat a whole buffet everyday. I'm officially glad about that. My mom and I watch this all the time together. My mom is also skinny, only 118 lbs. She is 31. I'm glad I'm young and realizing that people can get the help they need to be skinnier.
How can u punish ur kid for being full. Kids need smaller portions than adults. Good for her for losing weight to get healthy.

In order to qualify for the program they have to go to therapy. They need to have a plan way ahead of time.

I'm 11 years old (12 this year) and I'm 75-80lbs. Somewhere around there. People say I'm underweight but I eat a whole buffet everyday. I'm officially glad about that. My mom and I watch this all the time together. My mom is also skinny, only 118 lbs. She is 31. I'm glad I'm young and realizing that people can get the help they need to be skinnier.

Past trauma or not, i don't understand how someone can eat so much that they just become immobile. Oh wait laziness and people enabling them.
If kids don't eat all their food save it for later if they're full. If they aren't actually full they'll eventually eat
