just a little confused why the doctor's divorce information was spoken about, the show is "My 600-lb Life" is mainly about the patients.
    anyone else thinks the same?

She seemed to be really happy...no thanks to her parents. And then James was in the news around the beginning of April. He passed away. I doubt he ever made it out of his bed.

The thing is, YOU wouldn't end up in that show. Neither would I, nor the overwhelming majority of people in general. You need two very "special" people to create the mess seen in the show, the overeater (who almost always have some psychological issues) and the enabler (who have no willpower and are typically quite stupid). If the enablers had the force of will to say no their spouses wouldn't be so fat and therefore they wouldn't be in the show, that's why all the enablers we see are do spineless

When I first introduced my mom to this show, she thought it was fake and thought they were all wearing fat suits! Haha! She couldn’t believe anyone could be that huge.
The most ridiculous part for me, is when Dr. Now first meets them and asks what they’ve been eating. One replied “salads and lean chicken”. Girl, you’d have to be eating 6 football field’s worth of lettuce and 50 whole chickens per day, to get to 725 pounds! I mean who do they think they’re actually kidding?
Even more hilarious is when it shows them the night before their appointment eating two large pizzas and a bucket of chicken. An hour before that, they had hit a drive thru and ordered 2 double decker burger combos, 3 extra large fries with gravy, an order of chicken fingers, a large coke and an extra large milkshake!!! Right after that meal, it’s a bag of cookies, a carton of ice cream, a bag of cheetos and 12 chocolate bars! Salad and lean chicken my ass! Such denial and minimizing.

I have watched this show many times. I can relate with these people and their stories. At my highest weight I was 351lbs. I was diagnosed as being diabetic. But even at that weight and giving myself 4 shots of insulin a day and taking the highest dose of oral medication, I still worked on the career that I love so much. I am a CNA in the private duty sector. I finally decided that I wanted to live, not only for my special needs son, but for myself and that's when a change in my heart occurred. I left an abusive 15 year relationship with my son and our clothes. I had gastric bypass surgery and started to build my life back up to where I was before I told myself it was ok to stay with a man who abused me. I lost 150lbs so far and I had a couple of life set backs. But thank God, I'm still here and back on track. Depression is a real and powerful enemy, but with a lot of determination and being a little stubborn, I'm making my way back to my independence.

Heartbreaking. Poor ppl. This doctor should be canonized. It’s SO easy to to give up and eat everything in sight. I GET it. But it’s all about discipline, control and LOVING yourself enough to break the cycle.

I still like the doctor. So many are afraid of malpractice accusations, they will not take on difficult cases. ( but I guess that makes sense as well)
I'm just so happy for those who are able to get back into life.

Sometimes i dont get how these people are in relationships. not cause they weigh so much but because of their attitudes. Some of them are just really abusive and hate filled. I guess either cause they have some fetish or because they themselves have been abused and brainwashed into thinking they couldnt get someone better where they stick to trashy people.

I like Dr Now! He doesn’t fall for their expert manipulations! He tells it like it is! Some of these ppl are so lost in the delusion he can’t help them. It’s sad because he knows his stuff!! Carbs are addictive, and who knows what else is addictive that is in fast food and junk food. I don’t understand someone letting their bodies go this far. Who wants to be bed bound and unable to clean themselves? It’s like any other addiction only ppl have to eat. Penny is one of the most delusional of all. I think some of their partners stay and take care of them so they don’t have to work. They live off of the disabled benefits maybe.

The enablers in many cases get paid to "take care of them".

I love the summary at the end: many needed psychological help as well as physical help. This applies to all WHOLE wellness. It's like washing one side of your dishes thinking the other side don't matter!
