Steven had to be told his personal hygiene was bad people were complaining about the smell. He is a horrible person I couldn't stand him. He threw a bedpan of urine at one of his nurses. Im sorry I couldn't stand him and I'm a pretty compassionate person.

While I agree parents should educate their kids about the food pyramid and good eating habits. This kind of wait gain also has a lot to do with self esteem and depression. I think parents should also be teaching their kids healthy coping mechanisms.
This has nothing to do with teaching kids about fruit & veggies. If you actually watch the show you’ll see that a lot of these people had trauma of some sort in the childhood and eating became their coping mechanism. Overeating is similarly addictive like drinking alcohol or taking drugs, gambling, risky sex, etc.

Okay to clear up the comments. Obesity acceptance and body positivy have become so blurred together. I'm 5'7 150 pounds, hi I'm Nikki, I'm 14, turning 15 soon and here's my opinion.
Body positivy is not meant to accept unhealthy people. I've battled being obese, (5'6 and 237 pounds was my highest), bulimia and borderline anorexia. Obesity acceptance is dangerous. If you're a bit chubby or thick, that's okay, but as soon as your weight starts damaging your health, you need help. Take it from someone who's been there and recovered, it's never to early to get help.

Yes I totally agree with you & I am overweight. The people I follow normalize being curvy or thicker, but also exercise on a daily basis & promote taking care of your body, by eating healthy, drinking water, taking your meds etc.. I don’t follow people who are basically in the feedie community as it’s not healthy just like for pro ana

Question: the people who are on this show, do they watch episodes before they go on? They tend to seem surprised by dr. Now's program and goals. Don't they know what they're getting into before hand?
I think they know what he does but doesn’t necessarily watch the show. But even if they did watch the show, it’s mostly likely harder than they think
It’s because they’re in such a deep denial that their size is 1000000% their fault. So being confronted with how terribly unhealthy their lifestyle is, genuinely comes as a shock to them. It’s a difficult thing to accept for sick people.

Those people will get weighed and will call their weight “a slap in the face” implying that the truth of their obesity shocked/upset them so.. yeah, *they’re all addicts in denial*
When you’re in that kind of denial, you’re kind of in a weird place of being aware that you’re in a bad place but you’re also somehow the exception even though most of them follow the same pattern once they start the program (if I could loose weight I wouldn’t need the surgery, he’s asking for too much, I have to go at my pace, I’ll show him, etc).
They all say I wanna change for my kids and then don’t try

Bro honestly seeing this is making want to keep pushing on my weight loss journey even more. I'm only 23 at 6'1 and started qt 436 pounds. I've been on a calorie deficit for a month and have already lost 36 pounds! It's nothing compared to what I need to lose but I was really surprised what I lost with just a diet change in 1 month! I hope to lose at least 100 by the end of this year. Being this big is definitely not a good quality of life especially being this young

@@foxtrot2284 Yooooo I’m almost 6 months in and and now lost 97 pounds ! And 20 pounds is 20 pounds thats still great ! Things that could help out that I’ve been doing is eating more protein which helps you stay full longer and also being in a calorie deficit and tracking your calories!
As someone who deals with chronic pain, Steven Assanti abusing the system like he did pisses me off so bad. It’s people like him that ruined it for those of us who truly suffer (both chronic pain patients and addicts alike).

I have chronic back pain I deal with it by doing situps working out the core strengthens the back that and I smoke weed I prefer that to pills.
If you’re in pain because you’re fat, by Law you should be required to lose weight. The fact that being obese makes a person a valid candidate for pain pills will just breed a nation of fat junkies.

My guy, i eat whatever the hell I want, i never put a limit on what I eat. What I do put a limit on is how much and how often I eat. 5'10, 165lbs. Just count your calories and your daily percentage intakes of fats, sugars and sodium and youre good

My husband had the surgery through the VA and it was a process, he had to go to monthly groups to weigh in and he said a lot of people weren’t even trying or they were gaining weight.
Tlc should shoot a long-version documentary about the best doctor in the world dr. Younan nowzaradan. Because he is a real superhero of medecine. His son jonathan could produced and directed this great filmproject. His cute dad would be deserved this honor so much. 🎬🎥

Agreed. It was meant for people like amputees, burn victims, deformities, etc.... not gluttony and complaining that other people need to “fix” them. In terms of obesity, I would engage in the body positivity movement for people who WERE obese and lost the weight but have the extra skin... that extra skin is a beautiful sign of determination, accountability, self-love, and breaking the grip of commercialized food 🥳💪🏻
I like the idea of the body positivity movement but it has gone too far being too thin isnt healthy but neither is being morbidly obese and that is a thing i dont understand its okay to tell a skinny person to eat a burger or that they need some meat on them but when you tell an obese person that they shouldnt eat as much or tha eat too much its suddenly a scandal? fatshaming is bad but skinny shaming isnt??

Two of the Craziest episodes my 600 pound my was one episode where a woman drove through a drive in scooter ( yes I said scooter, then there was an episode where a woman fried chicken in her bed.
It doesn't surprise me that some of the patients on My 600-lb Life or their parents are alcoholics. Not only does overeating result from abuse by others but alcohol is like a strong carbohydrate. I'm an alcoholic and overeater myself. Sugar is very addicting to me and even more addicting than the alcohol was. I'm not quite 300 lbs but I know it's a struggle. And I may need to get my act in order or Dr. Now may be on my butt too!

I’ve started trying to lose weight because of this. I just finished my first week and while I’m sore from working out I feel a lot better. A little guilty cause I had some sweets (mostly hot cocoa and a bar of chocolate) but this week I’m going to do better. I just want to lose 20 pounds and slim out
Number 3 is what happens when you enable a person. If that was my son I would everything in my power to make sure he's taken the proper steps and eating right. It's clear James wasn't doing anything to help himself and his girlfriend has self-esteem issues! She doesn't love him or like him, she just wanted a boyfriend!

I am a little worse, MAYBE 50 lbs. overweight, heaviest I have ever been, and I am freaking out about it. Gained some due to Covid isolation and some due to holiday food which people brought me. BUT no one made me eat anything ! Extra 50 lbs. is 100% my own fault. Just hope I can get it off soon. AND I am already taking measures to combat the 50, not like these people who had chances and never took them, all the way up to their 600+ lbs.
