/ lukrembo These are the My 600-lb Life Moments That WENT HORRIBLY WRONG!
My 600-lb Life is a reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.
Patients are placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (often referred to as simply "Dr. Now"), who first has them attempt losing weight on their own by following a strict diet, and then depending on the patient's progress may offer gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy to further assist in weight loss.[1]

My ex husband tried to bully me into staying fat. I'm 5'1" tall and he accused me of being anorexic when I dropped to 130 pounds.
I finally stopped listening to him. I was 105 pounds when we separated. My boyfriend of 13 years always supports me in maintaining my weight and staying healthy. My ex is now married to a woman who won't let him eat meat at home.

I was never as heavy as the people on this show but I did lose a lot of weight. My highest weight was around 310 pounds and I now weigh 150 pounds. I lost my weight due to having a back surgery that went wrong. I ended up being paralyzed from the waist down and my husband (who has since passed away) took care of me and would pick me up and carry me to the shower, the toilet, etc. During that time I was on so many medications that I would go days without eating. I think at one time I was even down in the 130’s. I had 2 more back surgeries since then and I’m able to walk again. I feel comfortable being in the 150’s and am still proud of myself for keeping my weight off.

I went from 375lbs to 161lbs. A total of 214 lbs lost. Yes i have medical conditions, major depression, had 2 miscarriages and 1 still birth on my due date. Instead of looking for healthy ways to cope I turned to food. I have a very supportive husband who was at my side all the way.
I work on my depression everyday by working out, eating right and taking medications. I'm 27 and have a whole life ahead of me.

I’m so pleased you were able to recognise the destructive path your life was taking and were able to change the course your life. I sincerely hope this is the start of a happier, healthier, enjoyable life for yourself. I think it’s important not to shame these people since many have spiralled into this terrible lifestyle due to unresolved emotional issues and are reluctant to acknowledge how their negative attitudes and behaviours have contributed to their situation. We need to be empathetic to their plight but ultimately everyone has to accept responsibility for their choices and it is necessary to recognise their problems in order to make a conscious and active decision to address the problematic mindset and habits that have led them to where they are. It may seem harsh but you can’t change your past but you are the only one who has the power to change the direction of your future (with support and help of course but I notice it is common for many of these people to be in deep denial and often blame a whole host of factors rather than themselves, ultimately disempowering themselves and giving them an excuse to avoid putting in the hard work and effort they know will be required.

THANK YOU. A close friend of mine was in inpatient treatment for mental health, but due to costs, she had to leave before she was better. She ended up taking her life a few months later and it actually baffles me that people don’t see the importance of available mental health treatment. Regardless of someone’s financial situation, they deserve to be healthy, they deserve to be able to get better. I miss my friend so much, but as an optimist, I try to find something positive to take from a situation, no matter how bad. Ever since it happened, students in my school are pushing for more access to mental healthcare, and we even have a psychologist who will see any student in the school, free of charge.

Lala lalala Congrats for losing, but it’s a misconception that having bypass/sleeve surgery is a cheat, while it obviously helps tremendously because you can’t physically eat much after, it’s only a tool. You still have to put in the work, exercise, portion-control, watching carb intake, etc. There are people who go through the whole process and after a while gain back most if not all of their weight back. So don’t discredit someone who had it. Let’s just be happy for one another, right?

As soon as I got off the ritalin, I gained a lot of weight, and today i weigh roughly 245LBS. ...Why couldn't someone just make a medication similar to ritalin? When i was on it, I NEVER ate lunch in the cafeteria because it left me feeling like I was full. When it came dinner time, I would only eat a little, because the Ritalin wasn't completely out of my system. If they would make a medication similar to Ritalin, these people's weight would plummet.
