I disagree. Talent is a natural gift. Yes, you'll need to practice to develop the gift, but talent is something that can't be taught.

Bob Ross is the only person ever who could paint over 300 landscape paintings and make every single one look unique.
I think his paintings are beautiful, but I keep hoping that I'll find one without water in it.
@@MaartenvanHeek s19e12 he does a snowy barn. No water in sight. There are a few without water, but he usually includes water to demonstrate how to do reflections and water lines.

I think Bob would disagree, he would probably say that you, too, could paint 300 landscapes and make them all look unique. His goal was to make painting accessible to everyone.

If Bob could only see the magnitude of the legacy he left behind, It’s honestly beautiful. I’m sure he never dreamed that he would have impacted so many lives. I’m not a painter, or an artist, I’m just an “appreciator” so to speak. Bob has taught me not to paint, but to appreciate. Be humble and calm. Let it flow.

@@ronswoleman2245 Agreed. His strange definition here of talent always bothers me-- saying that if a person practices a lot then she/he will become talented at something. It doesn't work that way. A pursued interest is like a hobby, it's not talent. Talent is an innate and extraordinary knack, a gift one is born with; a person might be destined to become a figure skater, pro basketball player, chef, cartoonist, writer, or violinist, and they have an uncanny ability and affinity for it (that most others do not). It comes naturally to them. Might be genetic, might be a cosmic blessing. But it's rather amazing. And it's not merely a pursued interest.
Maybe Bob meant to say that even if you've got talent you still need to hone it, to practice, to spend time on it.
All comments aside, let's just recognize that Bob was really a wise man. Wiser than anybody initially thought.

Yes and no. You can have a keen interest in something and still be a complete novice with the your attempts to duplicate a process. I think "talent" is the perfection of your pursuits. I use the word "perfection" loosely. I do believe we are always learning and our own worst critique so we are always in the pursuit of perfection and never reach perfection. Perfection of a talent is merely a state of mind meaning you have reached a point in your pursuit that others will admire or recognize.
I think it would make Bob so happy to see artists from all over the world still enjoying his painting tutorials in 2023.
Im 15 never heard of Bob until someone mentioned him in a conversation. I watched episode after episode in awe, gathered what money I had and got supplies. Still learning from him and painting, rest in peace Bob and God bless my friend.❤

Sup Bear they still run the Bob Ross company. It’s a small office run by some really sweet ladies. They also have a live phone line with a lady who speaks in lengths about bob ross with anyone who calls. And Yes, you totally can still send them mail.

Any time I feel stressed, I put in a Bob Ross DVD. He was a great artist and watching him paint is so relaxing. RIP Bob Ross. You are missed.

This man is as close to “purity” as you can get. There are no words in the English language that can describe him. He’s simply incredible. Watching this video fills me with joy, sadness, awe, and hope. Watching him create beauty out of nothing, and enjoy every second of it… and when he bangs his brush back and forth on the stand and chuckles and says “that’s still fun”.. that tells me this is a man who has everything figured out… we are nothing compared to him. I both admire and envy him… in a world full of degeneracy… he brings me hope and inspiration…

I know Bob is probably looking down from his canvas in the clouds, and is smiling on all of us who truly appreciate him. Especially those who appreciate painting in general ourselves. I was never a painter, never was and never will be, but I would love to try it as a hobby

I actually suffer with depression and slight anxiety and have been using Bob Ross videos as a means of relaxation and coping. It helps tremendously and makes me miss a man I never even met.

He blows my mind how he can, in a few strokes, create an entirely new feature or effect - like he did with the water. It was like wow, suddenly there's water!
Many do not know but he has a duplicate he painted to the right hand side . He will glance that way every once in awhile to see what he needs to do next. He paints these paintings in around 26 minutes so it saves him time not having to figure out what color or what image to do next. A true genius.
The man sitting near the campfire makes that painting even more unique, I really like it.
This man was a God given gift to humanity.

It's just about 30 years since we lost Bob and he is still having a major influence on so many lives. That's not talent, that's a gift. When I first found Bob on PBS I wanted to meet him one day and tell him how much I appreciated his paintings, I looked him up on Wiki and discovered he had died seven years earlier. It was a sad day for me. The world lost a wonderful man who cared about people and wanted to share his passion with them. I still miss you, Bob. -Pastor Ray

@@stevenlloyd1403 I read that his fans talked the Smithsonian museum into asking the his estate for some of those paintings, come to find out they weren’t even being properly cared for like they should have, so some of them might be in the Smithsonian, which is pretty cool.

Very beautiful! I used to watch him on my local channel PBS when I was little. I would sit on the floor and just be mesmertized by watching him paint. It was therapy and still is. He paint and he was my idol in starting.

Lmaooo Bob getting a bit cheeky, literally. I absolutely love the addition of the little cowboy, first time I've seen him add a person in one of his paintings and I'm all for it and it makes it even better he is a little cowboy with his little cowboy hat lol. I love it, and on top of that this painting is one of my favorites from these earlier seasons, the black canvas episodes have all turned out great and the campfire really ties it all together with all the colors from the light and the way is glows against the happy little trees and shrubs. All of his paintings are masterpieces, but I especially love this one! I'd like to see more campfire paintings, perhaps in a slightly different setting. Like a fire on a snowy night to switch it up a little, maybe by the water with a frozen river or something. Makes me want to get the supplies and really practice with Bob so I can make something resembling one of his paintings lol. He makes me believe I could do it if I copied a few of his first, and luckily because it's on UA-cam I can pause or go back if needed which makes it way easier to paint along with him. But I would absolutely LOVE to somehow get my hands on a Ross painting, but I'm quite sure that it would be out of my price range if there is any left to buy at all. So the next best thing is to learn how from the master himself, and he will become my sensei lmaoooo.

Dr Ning Yeh is a Chinese painter who has a soothing personality and manner similar to Bob Ross. He was on public access tv in CA in the early 2000’s. Just in case you want to branch out. He paints happy flowers. ❤️🌸

The way this man could just extract such intricate things from a blank piece of canvas always amazed me. The image was always there, he just found it and brought it to life.
He could’ve stopped at 2:25 and it would’ve been a masterpiece, yet he decided to continue and make it even more beautiful. That’s true talent.
My daughter could have stopped 🛑 getting tattoos at 22.5. Yet she decided to get a SKULL 💀 tattoo on her forehead and made themself even more beautiful.

When my brother and I were kids, I remember watching Bob Ross paint every day, over the summer. My grandma would join us and we all three would take a nap listening to Bob paint. I miss those days but, I still enjoy listening to Bob paint just about every night before bed

Here in June of 2021, the peacefulness of Ross’s voice & the creativity behind each piece is incredible. I’ve enjoyed these videos for the past few weeks, it’s truly inspired me to pick up a brush & go at it!

Go straight for the canvus .... only way to get over your fear of making a mistake. Oils are very forgiving.... Sometimes I start out with a landscape and end up with a full scale floral arrangement. I love painting flowers. I never plan what I am going to do... I just start and get ideas as I go.... that is the joy of it. Self taught this method....went on to teach it.
I met you Bob...just a year or two before you died of a broken heart from losing your beloved wife. Anyway I was far from my Louisiana home with my husband who was stationed there at Wright Patt. I was big pregnant and always loud....I said to my husband and friends “There’s The Painter Man”. “I’m gonna say hi! You looked so tired and you had eaten alone....I should leave you alone ,they said....Sooooo I stood up big and proudly yelled....HAPPY PAINTING!!! You rushed right over with a Hugh smile that seamed to come all the way up from your toes! Gave me the biggest hug and profusely thanked ME...me...for making his day. I will forever keep this beautiful memory close to my heart....if the chance comes to pass on love...do it.

It’s almost like magic how he just pads his brush and it looms like detailed objects. I think it’s his perfect choice and knowledge of colors

Watching Bob Ross paint makes me forget all my troubles
My favorite part when I was a kid watching Bob Ross, was always when he'd place that signature of his in RED in the corner, as he was finishing up! (It's still pretty cool to me all these years later, too!!!) Thanks, Bob! I hope you are painting happily in Heaven! xo

For years I thought I was the only 1 who knew about Bob Ross. I stumbled on to him after school... it was so relaxing and I was hooked.
It looked like he was already done halfway through the episode and I'm like "What could he possibly do next? Betcha he'll make a big tree."
