A tree spoke to me one time years ago. He told me that squirrels climbed on him all day, he shed some leaves, a dog peed on him, and someone stapled a flyer advertising a garage sale to him. Overall, his day wasn’t too bad considering the robin’s nest in his branches recently became the home of a few newly hatched babies.

This exact painting: I remember staying home sick from school one day as a kid. I had seen Bob Ross so many times, and always wanted to follow along and do a painting with him, but never had the right supplies. When he came on and showed us the painting he was about to do, I ran and got my tempura paints, my brushes, and a piece of black poster board to use as the background. No, it didn't come out exactly like the master's did, but I was pretty damn proud of it.

Bless all who work tirelessly to allow new generations to learn to paint from someone who loved nothing more, than to show you that you can do it even through those happy little accidents that can always be fixed, and remember to always give your trees a friend. It’s not meant to be some thought provoking masterpiece, it’s a painting he did in 30 minutes, simple enough to follow along, yet complex enough to surprise you when it’s finished. Bob wasn’t exactly trying to make the viewer feel through the painting, he was marking them feel through the process.

Sounds weird probably.. But, the past week I listen to a few of Bob's videos, drink some beer and relax. Then off to bed. A true iconic legend. Respectable, honorable military man and an amazing artist. The way he leads you through the painting is so elegant and peaceful. Who could ever hate Bob?! So gentle and badass at the same time. Happy side of UA-cam lol.

my life isn't very good and most of the times im stressed but watching his videos makes me feel like im 12 again, when the only worry in the world was to be able to finish painting before bed so I can enjoy sleep with peace, back in the days I used to paint and do a lot of creative work, now these days it's just stress and issues, it's people like Bob Ross that make me happy and make me feel like there WILL come a good time :)
love you Bob Ross I hope u read this from heaven and feel proud

@Gabriella with Covers and Stuff I hear ya. Know that you are not alone. There many people that have traveled the road you are on right now. Some never get off it, but most do. Things will improve and it all begins with you. You have the strength to not let others bring you down and take you to their space. You go to where you want to go, even if its only in your mind right now, it wont be long before you can make the decisions that will get you where you really want to be.
Hang in there and keep watching Bob too. Also...if you like him search for the guy he learned how to paint from, Bill Alexander, he's fantastic too.

Truly a legend, thank you Mr. Ross, and enjoy heaven. You definitely deserve to. 🥲

I remember this when it was on as a rerun when I was little. I was upset about something, late, late at night. For the life of me, I couldn't tell you what upset me, but I remember that cabin, and watching Bob Ross paint it, just like magic. It made me feel comfortable, cozy. I'm glad I was born in a time where I could be influenced by Bob Ross.
