There's something about watching him paint that just cleanses the soul. It's so relaxing and calming and purifying to sit back and listen to his soft voice, the scraping of tools, and brushes against canvas. This was one of the best things to happen to Public Television since Sesame Street.

This exact painting: I remember staying home sick from school one day as a kid. I had seen Bob Ross so many times, and always wanted to follow along and do a painting with him, but never had the right supplies. When he came on and showed us the painting he was about to do, I ran and got my tempura paints, my brushes, and a piece of black poster board to use as the background. No, it didn't come out exactly like the master's did, but I was pretty damn proud of it.

I have seen some stick up there ass artists call his work “bland” and “uninspired”, completely missing the point of it. It’s not meant to be some thought provoking masterpiece, it’s a painting he did in 30 minutes, simple enough to follow along, yet complex enough to surprise you when it’s finished. Bob wasn’t exactly trying to make the viewer feel through the painting, he was marking them feel through the process.

Watching the older ones like this, make me realize just how far color clarity and focus has come since then, with newer technology. May Bob Ross live on, as he was hoping he would. So happy to see the Bob-a-thon videos as well as the ones with his class instructors, Keeping the Bob Ross Dream Alive. Bless all who work tirelessly to allow new generations to learn to paint from someone who loved nothing more, than to show you that you can do it even through those happy little accidents that can always be fixed, and remember to always give your trees a friend. Bless your Spirit Bob Ross, where ever you may be or what ever you have become on the other side. I like to picture him showing the Angels how to paint mountains and clouds with a 2" brush!

So one day I was looking threw sky TV trying to find something to watch and kept coming across a programme that just said the joy of pain, I thought how can anyone get enjoyment from pain, ( unless your that way inclined ) anyway eventually I thought I'd watch it just out of curiosity. It opened up a whole new world for me. And I've never looked back. Thank you bob I look to the sky and think your up there still painting clouds. X

I'm kind of working through examples of the seasons, but I noticed in the third season episodes he was looking to the side a lot, and I'm assuming he was watching the clock.

I remember this when it was on as a rerun when I was little. I was upset about something, late, late at night. For the life of me, I couldn't tell you what upset me, but I remember that cabin, and watching Bob Ross paint it, just like magic. It made me feel comfortable, cozy. I'm glad I was born in a time where I could be influenced by Bob Ross.
