I would love to hear you dive into the voice of Maynard James Keenan. He is the singer of the progressive metal band Tool as well as the lead vocalist for two other amazing bands A Perfect Circle and Puscifer. A great place to dive into Tool are the tracks "The Pot", "Sober" (live 93'), or a personal favorite "The Grudge" (Which is the starting track from Tool's album Laturalus whose title track "Laturalus" is a masterpiece itself that includes utilizing the mathematics of the fibonacci sequence in the lyric syllables, chord structures, and time signatures.) The rest of the Tool Army will surely make other suggestions. As for A Perfect Circle the tracks "Judith" (named after his mother who had suffered a diminished lifestyle after a stroke left her reliant on a wheelchair when he was 11), "The Noose", "Passive", and "Disillusioned" are great places to explore. And lastly some Puscifer tracks to start with would be "The Humbling River", "The Remedy", and "Momma Sed." Please start with Tool and spiral out into the others.
Daron doesn't do backing vocals/harmonies in this song. He has his lead parts and he does the backing parts when they play live, but the backing vocals have Serj's vocal quality. Except in the chorus I definitely hear a female voice and Jennifer pointed that out. I've listened to the isolated vocals track and the quality of that voice doesn't fit either Serj or Daron's head voice. It is almost definitely an uncredited female singer. Edit: I hear Daron in the background during the outro but that's it. I count his part in the 2nd half of the chorus as a lead part
U.S. Army Recruiters used "cloths" as something "cool" to show in classrooms, when they went to schools, looking for new recruits. They also used very eloquent words to describe "middle east" as a great place to have parties in the desert.
Love this song,it brings me back to high school and the fear that they would start the draft again, that was a fear for guys my age in high school because of the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, and I saw friends who were poor and signed up and then the ones who survived came back with pstd
Yes! Great commentary and insight! Love that you appreciate their vocal experimentation as well, and how they use that to get their message across in such a powerful way. I, like a lot of the others, would love to hear your thoughts on their song "Question!". And for great examples of Serg's vocal gymnastics, please give a listen to "Sugar" and "Suggestions". Their song "Holy Mountains" is a really great (and deeply meaningful) song as well! New subscriber here!
Question, Hypnotize, Vicinity Of Obscenity, Holy Mountains, Question, Lonely Day, Attack, Dreaming. Or well, basically anything. Man, I haven't listened to these songs in so long time. I listened to them so much back then, and also played them on guitar.
Fantastic reaction and insight. Loved your interpretation and explanation of the vocal pieces. I have watched your others...time for Hypnotize! Keep up the great work!
What that was at the beginning was a very subtle pre growl and then ofc the high pitched maniacal scream after. A lot of bands similar to system of a down (Slipknot or dir en grey for example) do these experimental theatrics in their music. It really helps to express the feeling throughout the song. Which is also why I like to sometimes listen to music that has throat singing in it because the energy is so different. The tones, expressions, pitches, and sudden changes.
I don't know if you did one already, but do a vocal reaction to Apocalypse Please by Muse. I really love how the singers operatic voice meshes with the music.
Jennifer! Well this one is not for gentle souls. The message echoes of those heard in music from the 60's during the Vietnam war though just a bit angrier and less musical. This harsh tone will never be my thing but as you say the message is still important. I was just young enough to not have to go to Vietnam and then too old for other conflicts since then. As you said the angry interruption of "the party" at the end of the song was interesting imagery. Good reaction and analysis as always Jen.
High Jen, I always appreciate your sincere & informative comments & although this isn’t my preferred genre, I still enjoyed it. Just a quick note that Amira has a couple of new videos out, so when you can, please react to “ Down from His Glory “ or another one simply titled “ Amen “ Trusting you’re keeping well, Cheers Graeme
Do you take requests? If so can you pretty please listen to these two covers: Babymonster Ahyeon - Dangerously and Babymonster Haram - Pick up your feelings.
Great reaction!. It fascinates me that people react to this incredible band because they are constant surprises! The tempo changes, everyone's ability to flow and play something different, plus Serj's voice and the harmonies with Daron. You need to listen to Aerials, you will surely love it, a great song!.
oh SOAD has a discography filled with iconic pieces of arts. i personally love the anger about injustice they bringf across, while other songs like soldier side just make you feel depressed and absolutely despise wars and all that has to do with it. i think good follow up songs would be chop suey, soldier side, sad statue as well as prison song. but then, all of their songs are fabulous and theyre great at making political statements and follow up with songs that go banana banana banana and pizza pizza pie lmao
i believe this is my first time watching a video of yours- love watching people react to this group- i need to highly suggest that you watch their very first video "sugar" or prison song-no video for that one- i will sub because u made me feel bad by only watching and not subscribing
Hey! First time watching! But not really. 😁 Clicked and then stopped and found the other two first. So yes, first time. But also third time lol 😁 Like your analysis, and you have a great presence. Haven't looked yet all through your Playlist, but have you ever listened to Rush? Geddy Lee has a UNIQUE voice (an awesome one. IMHO 😁
One of my favorite band, SOAD is unique! Maybe you can react to another really good band: Rammstein with "ich tu dir weh" live at madison square garden, the vocals of Till is awesome imo
Yeah, they did not beat around the bush with one. And for those who didn't get it, there was the song and video "Boom!" Probably not something for a reaction, but certainly something to watch.
I always love it when a vocal coach meets Serj and Damon... there's just nothing like it.
Daron's not bad, either.
I like daron's singing as it compliments serj's
I humbly request "Question" next. It has some of Serj's best soulful, melodic vocals.
Definitely in favor of *Question*! It's got so much to offer.
Just overall shows Serj's vocal range both in tone and notes. Those screams at the end of the last two choruses are crazy
My favourite SOAD song I think ❤
Absolutely loved this. I think you’d really enjoy ‘Hypnotize’ and ‘Question!’. Looking forward to the next video.
I definitely second on Question
I'm a System of a Down fan, and as of today a fan and subscriber of yours. By the way, I love that you're including tones/notes.
"Aerials" or "Spiders" next, both amazing songs.
Holy mountains
And question
True
"Spiders," please!
Question! ? Question?
I think you would absolutely love "Lonely Day" its my absolutely favorite song by them

This song won a Grammy Award in 2006. I love this song
I literally just watched your other soad reactions and was hoping you’d react to this one 😭 perfect timing. Love your videos
Ahah for sure!
❤ SOAD - Question ! Please
Yes please !!❤
Yes
That would be Daron Malakian on backing vocals/harmonies. 🤘🤙✌️

I love the anti-war messages SOAD talks about. Same thing with Rage Against The Machine
Ovcourse thats not the first reaction im watching from you ,love to hear your reactions 💘
"This beat slaps"
Instant sub

They also used very eloquent words to describe "middle east" as a great place to have parties in the desert.
No, they didn't. Individual recruiters may have made some claim to that effect, but that was not a common practice, not a norm, not a thing most said.
serj's "ooOOoo" matching the melody of the whammy bar is so 👌
Aerials must be the next one!!
Loved your analysis
Love this song,it brings me back to high school and the fear that they would start the draft again, that was a fear for guys my age in high school because of the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, and I saw friends who were poor and signed up and then the ones who survived came back with pstd
First time viewer! Loved the reaction, and happy to leave a like and subscription :)

Man, I haven't listened to these songs in so long time. I listened to them so much back then, and also played them on guitar.
having heard every SOAD song, i cannot find one that i don't enjoy for one reason or another. every song has grown on me sooner or later
One of my favorite song by System of a Down. They are one of my favorite bands. Grew up listening to them through out high school.
Fantastic reaction and insight. Loved your interpretation and explanation of the vocal pieces. I have watched your others...time for Hypnotize! Keep up the great work!
Hi! i'm a first timer.
Sup from New Zealand,🇳🇿🥝🙃, hope everyone's having a wonderful day 💛🌏💛
15:05 you can definitely say that because it does 😂
The singer Serj Tankian is very charismatic. I love his voice
This is/was a revolutionary song. Very few, in the industry.
next one should def be "question!" incredible song
I have just found this channel. I like the ethnic influences in the vocals from SOAD.
What that was at the beginning was a very subtle pre growl and then ofc the high pitched maniacal scream after.
A lot of bands similar to system of a down (Slipknot or dir en grey for example) do these experimental theatrics in their music. It really helps to express the feeling throughout the song. First time seeing your channel. Brilliant reaction. Have you tried the band 'tool'?
"why don't presidents fight the war"
This isn't about singing this is about expression.
With a genius behind the words.
I love you saying the beat slaps!! 😂 Amazing band 💪🏿
Serj’ solo stuff is amazing too, empty walls would be my recommendation. Very fitting given current events too.
Spiders is my favorite!! Question is a close second 🤘
Yes, I would be thrilled with either of those.
Thanks Jen 😊
if i'm not mistaken, the higher pitched voice harmonising with Serj is usually his brother.
he's the manic goblin who screamed at the start.
To hear a master vocalist experiment with their craft, you should check out Mr. Bungle.
I don't know if you did one already, but do a vocal reaction to Apocalypse Please by Muse. I really love how the singers operatic voice meshes with the music.
I really recomendes songs like Forest, Roulette, Highway Song, Sugar, Suite-Pee, Holy Mountains, Stealing Society and Dreaming
lol ur awesome, this beat slaps 😁 👍
"okay,, ummmm, this is going to be a lot."
hahahah, go SOAD
Excelente reacción, saludos desde Chile.
Fun fact, he sings on yhr Armenian scale which sounds distinct to its region. Mixing it with metal and rock is absolutely wild.
From Russia with love. ❤ good content.

Great band great tune. Serge has been vocally trained FYI. Also this song is against the Iraq War.

Every time you mention false fold techniques I wish you would react to Lorna Shore. I've watched nearly every reaction to that band on YT 😂
Please you should to listen "Question" for SOAD
One of my favorite band, SOAD is unique!
Maybe you can react to another really good band: Rammstein with "ich tu dir weh" live at madison square garden, the vocals of Till is awesome imo
I have never seen someone as flustered as you were in the first 5 minutes of trying to analyze what you were hearing in this video 🤣
First time watcher 🇦🇺
Yeah, they did not beat around the bush with one. And for those who didn't get it, there was the song and video "Boom!" Probably not something for a reaction, but certainly something to watch.
And yet there are still people in the comments claiming the lyrics are gibberish.
Ariels is a good choice I believe you will enjoy
