15:38 “I was not expecting to get a little emotional from this song.” Dude that’s basically Sleep Token’s entire discography lol I think you’re gonna have a great time discovering their music
Aaaaaa it was so delightful to see you get so excited about this band! I've been OBSESSED with them for a few months now and I'm so glad you enjoyed this.
Their drummer has a video on the Drumeo channel that breaks this song down and goes into a lot more detail. He also adds a solo to the portion before the final section that is absolutely fabulous. Not saying you have to react to it, but it’s worth the watch.
I also appreciate that you recognize the music as well as the vocals. I have yet to hear a single ST song that hasn't been a masterpiece in its own way.
I love what you said about the lyrics coming full circle. They come back around but the music hasn't so you are in a different place when you hear them and re-contextualizes them in a way, it is wonderfully crafted songwriting. Sleep Token played with that on a few of their songs with this album and it makes for fun call back moments, like little Easter eggs as it were. Vessals piano and lyric work is sublime but he does a lot if not all the production on the songs, he is very smart and creative with it, the mans artistic expression is something else.
New level unlocked! Loved this reaction and analysis. There’s so much to dig into with this band. I recommend starting at the beginning of this album with Chokehold and working your way through. Then going back and doing as many of their previous two albums as you can. When you come to Bloodsport, make sure you do the version “from the room below” first. Have a little look into the “lore” of the band too. Their three albums are connected and tell a complete story. I’m looking forward to much more!
If you really wanna go down this rabbit hole, PLEASE do it in chronological order! (at least the albums). Every song, from The Night Does Not Belong to God, all the way through Euclid is unique, and very different in vocal and/or instrumental approach, and even structure. This band changed the way I listened to and played music, and my biggest regret is listening to their catalog out of order.
16:13 this entire section is so powerful because of that piano just absolutely driving the bridge towards the back half of the song....uggggh genius 19:03 oh yea there will be a drop... A FUNKY DROP!
oh i promise you, theres never another voice you'll hear like vessels, and theres no supporters that will support this entire journey any harder than their fans. Every song is a story through perfect mixing/songwriting and vocals, backed with a beautiful backstory. you will not be dissapointed in this journey. Worship :D
Welcome to a new journey :) please continue listening! I'd suggest checking out Ascensionism next, but their albums tell one continual story, so if you enjoy their music, I would highly suggest starting with their first album Sundowning. You will not be disappointed!
Fantastic reaction, glad you enjoyed it. On the album all instruments except for drums are recorded by the singer but live the singer and drummer are joined by bass, guitar and backing singers, and they are brilliant live. Other similar artists/tracks, all released around the same time, worth checking out are Periphery - Wildfire (Vocals. Spencer Sotelo)and Tesseract - Legion (Vocals Daniel Tompkins) plus I think you would enjoy a band called Oceans of Slumber with Cammie Gilbert-Beverly on vocals.
Honestly, the best rabbit hole out there. Start with the whole Sundowning album, then the This Place Will Become Your Tomb album, and then the Take Me Back to Eden album (most recent and what the song you just heard is from). There's a story to the lyrics, and a whole wealth of emotions. Their two EPs from before Sundowning are good, too. You'll have every Sleep Token fan that finds you tuning in to every reaction, promise! Worship.
I highly recommend you check out Bloodsport (live from the room below) for a real example of contrast compared to this song and you can see his throat and jaw (weird to say) that shows off more of his vocal technique.
First time viewer. Your detailed analysis's are much more digestible and enjoyable than Charismatic Voice. Love this song, glad I came across you. Keep being you!
Please do more! I would recommend The Apparition, it's not one of the more commonly recommended early for reviewers but I feel like it's one of their very best. To be perfectly honest, Sleep Token doesn't make bad songs. But definitely give The Apparition a try, you won't regret it.
This is *such* a good video! And I think you'll know exactly what I mean when I say about the only thing you can expect from Sleep Token is the unexpected - your facial expressions were priceless! As for recommendations, I would suggest going right back to the beginning of Sleep Token's discography to their first EP (very cunningly called "One". Can't get muddled up with "Two", their second one, there!) and look at the vocal versions of each of the three tracks on it. I say the vocal versions because there are piano versions of each track on that EP as well. You've got "Thread The Needle", "Fields Of Elation" and "When The Bough Breaks". In these tracks, you'll hear a younger Vessel, where he has done all the vocal arrangements and most of the instrumentation, all barring the drums, which are played by II (that's two, and not eye-eye). II writes and performs all the drum sections and he is *amazing*, but you got a little taste of his drumming skill in "The Summoning" - he's an absolute unit! It's lovely to see a new reaction. I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy your journey - expect to see your viewer numbers go upwards as well, because quite a few of us look out for new reaction videos/reactors - it's almost a hobby. ❣Worship❣
This was my first video of yours I’ve watched and I’m already such a fan! I love how you examine and dissect and really appreciate some of the smaller details. Like the piano in the early part of the song. I love that section so much and almost no one ever talks about it! Lol
I don't understand any of those tecnical concepts you mentioned but... this is one of my favorite sleep token reactions. Your facial expressions are everything!! Please don't stop I need Alkaline or hypnosis ❤

Oh NOW we’re getting started! But I always said that I love when a voice can sound instrumental or when an instrument can sing. Sleep Token can do both and they always do!
I enjoyed every single second of this reaction/analysis like...I lost track of time . Was this actually a 25 min video? 😆 Loved it, looking forward for more Sleep Token's songs❤️
If you do more, heres some recommendations: Ascensionism Take me back to eden (these first two have a similar progression to them, ascensionism is more sad) Rain Are you really okay Granite Sugar Vore (their heaviest song) Chokehold Any of these plus others i havnt mentioned would all be great choices.
Cannot wait for another Sleep Token reaction!!! Watching your facial expressions change because you know exactly what’s going on musically, then getting to hear the explanation of what’s happening is SO fun, absolutely love it! As for next song, I’d highly recommend against listening to Euclid right away. It’s an extremely beautiful and sentimental song and you’ll get MUCH more out of it once you’ve listened to a bunch more Sleep Token first (I mean, preferably, all their of albums in chronological order because you’ll get the most out of Vessel’s story that way. Not to mention, Euclid will make a lot more sense and will have a stronger impact). Perhaps Ascensionism next, or Chokehold. Atlantic, from a previous album is phenomenal as well!!
10/10 analysis and reaction. Love how at the start you seemed slightly uncomfortable listening but by the end just vibing with it. Keep them coming! Worship 🤟🏼
Love the reaction!! It is definitely a deep rabbit hole should you choose to take the dive. If this first song was intriguing enough, I highly recommend continuing the journey with "The Night Does Not Belong To God" from their first album Sundowning and follow along from there. Doing it this way will give a greater appreciation and payoff to the songs on the Take Me Back To Eden album as there are a lot of callbacks to their previous songs sprinkled throughout.
Oooo please do Take Me Back To Eden, I don't want to spoil but it has like four or five different musical genres in one song and it's AMAZING both lyrically and in sound design ❤
Congratulations on discovering one of the most intricate substance filled bands ever! lol their latest album “take me back to Eden” makes me feel and experience things like no other music has. Sure I get goosebumps too from great music but their intricacy with the lyrics and layering of provoking a story through the structure of the song is brilliant. Definitely worth investing some time on. You have some good knowledge. I think you’ll enjoy it.
I just got to the part where you started to get unexpectedly emotional. That is what ST does to you. There is just something different about them. It hits different. I hope they have sparked your interest enough to do more, soon.
@@bbenjamin2011 I am a pretty seasoned and still need to apply a click to keep up with where the 1 is in the song for most of it. They're monsters man.

Boy-O-boy are you in for a journey!! (Many might agree, but starting with ST's very first track 1-50, is a very good way of going about this band). Either way, I'm here for all of it!!! Ty. [Take Me Back to Eden - Ascensionism - The Apparition - Blood Sport]. Like ,who does 3 back to back concept albums back to back again?
We are all here to watch you experience Sleep Token for the first time bc we can never experience it for the first time again! We will live vicariously through you! Welcome to this journey! WORSHIP 🖤🖤🖤
The look of "What have I gotten myself into?" when the song starts was pretty amusing, especially followed by the "Oh, this is interesting...." look once the vocals started. I very much enjoyed your analysis of the song, you pointed out stuff that I never picked up on as a non-musician. Yes to more Sleep Token reactions, they're both talented and pretty unique from a song composition/arrangement standpoint which makes them actually interesting. All their stuff is pretty good, so just pick a song. I'll also throw a quick suggestion for "Disciple" by The Warning. Three sisters from Mexico who play rock, all sing (and do lots of harmonies), and are great songwriters as well.
The three albums form a trilogy. He basically wrote a fantasy darkish romance in poetry and sang it to us. Take me Back to Eden is another wild ride. Rain and Levitate showcase his beautiful voice. The drummer is second to none. Very gifted individuals.
Amazing analysis and reaction! I reacted much the same listening to this the first time. Excited for more ST reactions, they have snatched my soul. Subd!!!!
Id recommend listening to the entire album if you liked this song. It's a rollercoaster of emotions and the lyrics are beautiful. This is one of the heavier songs as well most of them are a bit more toned done aside from a couple of them.
I love how every reactor hearing this one for the first time looks like they're taking psychic damage when they get to the funk section. Also, if this song impressed you, the next one on the album does an even better job of showcasing his voice, imo.
If you want to do more from them you might as well just go through this whole album it's a beautiful journey and every song is different in a way, there is jazz and pop in there, it goes places. Your ear will not be bored.
Any song by sleep token is a great place to go next. Chokehold is one of my favorites, along with Hypnosis. (Both songs have been covered by Will Ramos of Lorna Shore, and his versions are also amazing.)
I think you will like this band, if for no other reason than they are masters at subverting expectations. Every song is quite different and REALLY unpredictable. Would love to see more!
This is quite a rabbit hole. ST fans will be here in droves. Vessel (the lead singer and the one who plays all the instruments in the studio except drums) is immensely talented and can draw upon a number of vocal colours. The three primary albums are a trilogy (The Summoning is on the last one) that tells a story. There are many interpretations, but the jist is the evolution of a toxic relationship. Musically there’s a lot of ground to cover and I’d be very glad to see you take it on, as would a lot of other people. Have fun!
Hear me out: one video with two songs (Give and then Gods) back to back, no pause inbetween. The transition is… an experience. Loved your reaction and hope to see many more!
Ah Sleep Token. One of the true marvels of music in this new day and age. This album is straight 10/10 for sure. Highly recommend "Take Me Back To Eden" or "Ascensionism" next.
Oh my gosh I loved it at around the 20 minute mark where you were like "I'm prepared for it to drop and get super heavy again at some point" and I'm just like, oh boy, she has no idea where this is gunna go!
You just gonna need to finish the whole album. Loved your reaction. will definitely wait for more sleep token reactions. Please make sure to listen to Euclid lastly......
pleasee consider doing a double react (live + studio) for your next Sleep Token videos? i love watching vocal coach reacts and the lead singer, Vessel, sounds amazing live as well (:
Ah, fresh meat to the Sleep Token world. I suggest listening to this whole album, in order. If you jump around the songs, you'll miss the most important pieces. Sleep Token is like an onion; many layers and you may find yourself tearing up as you peel them back. Really you should listen to all 3 albums in order, but that's a bit much to ask. Obviously pay attention to the music, the musical styles, and the quality of writing and playing. Pay attention to the lyrics in each song. The whole album tells a story. In fact, the whole trilogy of albums does. But you can get it from this album. It's about a relationship. What is the relationship like? Who are the people? Who is saying the lyrics at each point? Pay attention to how the music and singing style makes you feel in relation to the story of the relationship unfolds. You are supposed to feel that way. Pay attention to the metaphors in the songs. Look up the meaning of the song titles. What do the metaphors mean at this point of the relationship and story. Pay attention to the references. There are references at the end of songs to the beginning of songs, but changed. There are references in later songs to earlier songs on the album, and to earlier albums, and new lyrics but using earlier metaphors. Before you listen to the last song, Euclid, go listen to the first song on the first album, The Night Does Not Belong to God. When you listen to Euclid, pay even closer attention to everything above. How do you feel. What are the metaphors and lyrical references? What do the directions mean? What are the repeated lyrics? What is the state of the relationship and what do you think happens next? How do you feel? How do they feel? You could spend months finding new things in this album, as many of us have. It is a true masterpiece.
I also need you to know, that what you hear on studio tracks is all just Vessel and II. Vessel writes the music and lyrics, plays all the instruments other than drums (that's II), sings and produces the music. The others just join them for live performances - but on the studio its just those two geniuses.

And speaking of cool progressions and getting emotional, wait until you get to Ascensionism, Take me Back to Eden, and Euclid.
This is one of the heavier songs as well most of them are a bit more toned done aside from a couple of them.
your interest in understanding the theme of the song is what i love the most, music breakdown is also amazing, 👍👍👍
I love how every reactor hearing this one for the first time looks like they're taking psychic damage when they get to the funk section. Also, if this song impressed you, the next one on the album does an even better job of showcasing his voice, imo.
Hi Jennifer hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤
Sleep Token are sooo good!
The time signature is, in fact, always changing lol. So complex and yet right in the groove at the same time. Brilliant composition
Love me some Sleep Token reactions. Lets recommend Blood Sport ( From the Room Below) Aqua Regia and Jaws. They are a pit of womderful.

Have fun!
I've never before been so thoroughly captured by a band in my entire life. I doubt I ever will be again.

At "I am preparing myself for a heavy drop" I doubled over, wheezing.
Welcome my love to the world of Sleeptoken they literally have their own world, language and religion, vessel has definitely had his heart broken.
Hear me out: one video with two songs (Give and then Gods) back to back, no pause inbetween. The transition is… an experience. Loved your reaction and hope to see many more!
take the dive, I did a few months ago and good lord 🤯🤘🏻🔥
22:53 😂😂😂 exactly
Love your new song, too!
Thank you so much! 😁 music video coming out on Saturday!
Sleep Token is quite an experience! Be interesting to see which you do next!
Ah Sleep Token. One of the true marvels of music in this new day and age. This album is straight 10/10 for sure. Highly recommend "Take Me Back To Eden" or "Ascensionism" next.
I would recommend you next a track called " the aparition" or " chockehold" both are masterpieces !!
You’re truly making a difference!
Here to worship!🙏🏼🤘🏼💕
Oh my gosh I loved it at around the 20 minute mark where you were like "I'm prepared for it to drop and get super heavy again at some point" and I'm just like, oh boy, she has no idea where this is gunna go!
Hahah had no idea!😂
Their drummer (who goes by the name of ii) made of video of him playing this on Drumeo in which he has a solo on the halftime section. It’s great.
You just gonna need to finish the whole album. Loved your reaction. will definitely wait for more sleep token reactions. Please make sure to listen to Euclid lastly......
ahh someone finding sleep token, this is a canon event! congratulations!
pleasee consider doing a double react (live + studio) for your next Sleep Token videos? i love watching vocal coach reacts and the lead singer, Vessel, sounds amazing live as well (:
Start back near the beginning if you want to see his mouth placement and how he sings....checkout Calcutta.
More Sleep Token - any song you pick is a winner! 🏆
I also need you to know, that what you hear on studio tracks is all just Vessel and II. Vessel writes the music and lyrics, plays all the instruments other than drums (that's II), sings and produces the music. The others just join them for live performances - but on the studio its just those two geniuses.
Yeah they are soooo goood yet metal af still, love them everyday for the last 5 years.
Chokehold by Sleep Token
And follow it with
Chokehold by Will Ramos (Sleep Token vocal cover)
"I'm preparing for a heavy drop... I feel like that's what's going to happen..."
*me waiting in anticipation for the not-at-all heavy drop* lol
