      Well you can use the points limits.. Before i got the mod i just smashed the randomize button till i got a colonist i wanted..

      +Eko02 The point limit still lets you make OP colonists and it doesn't prevent you from taking OP traits and it doesn't prevent you from getting free points by giving your colonists food posioning

    I don't know if you read the comment section, but if you happen across this, do you guys ever plan on making the factions less static? Maybe allow the rimworld's politics to evolve over time, with factions trading, declaring war with one another, and possibly settlements being constructed/destroyed dynamically?

    @tynan slyvester I just want to say thank you for not being one of the developers that gets pressured into releasing content for contents sake because everyone is asking for it and such. I think consumers have largely been spoiled with constant gratification - I love your game, I feel it's everything I've ever wanted in a game; solid mix of RPG, Strategy, Basebuilding, and Management. I really appreciate all your hard work you've been putting into this, and I hope you continue forward knowing how many people absolutely love your gave and respect you, and are inspired to go make games themselves.
    Only thing I could ask for is an expanded political system. Having the law versus chaos scenario that is going on through every scene and expand upon that - adding relatively small things like territories/influenced areas sorta like Stellaris' border system would make late-game a lot more interesting as we've have to work to defend the borders of our growing colony. I believe there was mention before about the game not being designed to have a high population, or too many colonies though I'm not entirely sure what the issue is with that; perhaps it's just running all those things at once - perhaps work on optimizing to allow larger populations and such?
    That's just my 2cents, but keep doing you.

      The issue with a "political system" is that it would represent a drift in focus away from what the game is about: The individual struggles of your individual colonists. There's always a ton of pressure to make everything bigger in this game, until it eventually becomes a sci-fi version of Civilization. But that's not the design direction I chose; I'm committed to keeping the game focused on individuals, which means necessarily limiting the focus. That's the main argument against.

      Tynan Sylvester thank you so much for such a stellar game I've been following it since alpha 3, I've always had the idea that there should be more reason to have to arrest a colonist maybe let it be tied to agressive mental breaks and instead of having to convince them to return to the colony they'll have a sentence period from around 3 days to a season if you choose not to have them arrested the victim colonist would have a negative mood modifier for a while or until they are arrested this could also be in affect for social fights maybe categorize them as social prisoners to separate them from other prisoners it should add a bit to the story telling after an internal conflict

      Any chance you can re-balance floor beauty?
      Currently Smooth stone is better than every other floor in the game except gold, and smooth stone doesn't even cost resources.

    Hey Tynan - you know what would be really cool is more fleshed-out factions - maybe have some factions trying to take over the world and actually capturing territory of others - and when one faction gets too strong maybe they split into two factions civil war.. also maybe as you're playing you'd get a message like "An enormous army of _____ faction is heading your way and will be there in a few days time!".. and then when they arrive they may demand tribute from your inventory (or colonists as slaves) and if you refuse you fight.. among the factions maybe they could have different sized settlements, ranging from small villages to sprawling cities.. and they oscillate overtime based on local events.. the possibilities of things you could do with factions are endless and could really make the world more fun to explore... maybe also ruins would be cool to explore.. even introducing a hierarchy of leadership within your own colony (maybe newer colonists have a more favorable rating of original/older colonists, etc).. just some thoughts.. thanks so much for creating such a fascinating game!!! Also having a hermit hut somewhere in the world where Tynan lives would be cool!! And you could trade with him lol!!

    Thanks for the Inspiration systems, really takes away from the powergaming. Until now I just kept the pawns over the mental breaks limit, I had not motivation for actually making them happy.
    I hope it gets expanded, either by you or the modding community!

    Best 30 bucks I've ever spent. Each update has been so massive that it's almost like a brand new game with new or updated things that are actually significant.
    Definitely brand new game as it kills all my mods lmao

    BUT I have to tell you, the mic audio randomly spikes to ridiculously loud levels through the video and it's very jarring.

    Keep up the great work! I love this game it's been my main jam-strategy game that i go to.
    13 constructive things (instead of destructive comments) I would like to see in the future in rimworld.
    1) Different layers of earth, or just being able to mine down.
    2) Hands/Legs It would be nice to see peg legs and missing parts.
    3) A skeleton or some other way to visualize where on the body damage is in the health menu.
    4) Different turrets (a modular turret maybe one you can put items/weapons you own on)
    5) Different animals! Giant spiders are no joke. (FTL pun) Giant trap door spiders maybe!!! Ant colonies? BEES!
    6) More ways to get foods. Fishing! Ice fishing! Whale fishing! Bee hives!
    7) A way to sometimes see enemy's attacking or trade caravans approaching from the world map. Maybe by using a super weapon such as a ancient satellite for intell.
    8) COFFEE!! chocolate/sugar Or other things to grow (if in the right biome)
    9) Different mechanoids! Melee attackers, fast attackers, one's you can re-purpose into cleaning bots. (maybe they would need recharging)
    10) Advanced medical treatments/surgery's. Replacing/reinforcing fingers, toes, ribs, spines skulls?
    11) More traps/tripwires/spike traps/caltrops/ ways to slow enemy advancement.
    12) Boots, Gloves, eye patches And other clothing.
    13) End game aircraft? They can build a spaceship, why not a blimp?
    Thanks so much for taking a gander at this useless list and nodding your head once with satisfaction.
    Also feel free to hire me for 75k silver a year :P

    I think we all know the best feature of this new update - the mod auto-loading whenever you're loading a save that has a different mod list.

    I remember playing the pre-release version of this (ua-cam.com/video/uD8H1XQ8hCk/v-deo.html) and it is honestly insane to have followed this through development to now. It's an amazing game and one I have pretty much consistently played over the past 4 years.

    Hi Tynan, congrats to you and the team on this Beta stage. I don't know of any other game that has kept me hooked for so long- even Prison Architect, which is a great game, just can't compete with this for immersion. Really looking forward to playing B18 :)

    Hey Tynan, First of all what an amazing game you've made, really enjoyable.
    I know it would not be the first time a guy on internet is making suggestions but I think I have some ideas that might improve your already awesome game so here it goes.
    What do you think about adding a drinking need to pawns? As in water. It would make a lot of sense and make living in different biomes work differently, finding water in a desert (digging wells for example) would be totally different than finding a source in a temperate forest (a stream or whatnot) or even arctic (where you can gather snow and melt it) I know this is something complex but if you can add this it would be amazing.
    My other suggestion would be a waste mechanism, as in human waste. If you have a bunch of people and animals living together poop will become a major problem if not tackled properly. I imagine a similar system to the filth system, where people and animals would produce "poop" on regular basis which if not handled would provide negative mood and cause some diseases. Waste can be stored in a building of sorts and turned into fertilizer for the farms or maybe even just burned. Again this system would add a lot to your game.
    I know about going Beta and all that but if there was a tiny little bit of chance that you might see this comment and consider this and I didn't even try I wouldn't forgive myself! :D

      Very good point about the poop... managing this biological waste seems like it would be necessary as you say with humans and a bunch of tamed beasts. Where's the waste? Can we turn it to fertilizer over time to increase crop output possibly?

      Aratas Man There's a mod for the human waste idea. You should give it a try, it's called 'Dubs Bad Hygiene'. If you're not into mods then no problem :)

      Interesting idea for the human/animal waste idea, colonists will (if no toilets or the equivalent is available), exit the 'home' area before they defecate. Animals however will not, they will defecate in their zone. Except animals with advanced intelligence like dogs can be trained to also exit the home area or use animal waste disposal items, like litter boxes.

      Aratas Man One of my FAVORITE mods is the one that adds a waste feature to the game. I highly recommmend it, it's called 'Dubs Hygiene & Central Heating'. It doesn't add drinking, but it adds a need system for pawns (not animals I think), but it's probably my favorite mod because it adds so much more complexity.
      The fertilizer is more tricky, in my opinion, because once you have a fertile ground (like if you're using one of the complex terraforming mods), it stays forever and you don't need to refertilize it. If the fertile ground somehow degraded over time, then I would want a fertilizer type mod like you suggested so you could keep the ground active. Until (or if) degrading soil is implemented, I just sort of consider it as already happening and balanced with the constantly fertile soil, if that makes sense. If soil doesn't degrade, then you're producing a fertilizer without a cost somewhere, and so basically you're providing fertilizer from nothing, which I don't like. That's just my opinion. It's always funny to see why one of your pawns had a mental break, because he was working too far away and had an 'accident', or you drafted him for too long in battle and peed himself!
      This mod also allows for bathrooms and radiant heating, which is a pleasant aesthetic addition to a colony in cold biomes instead of a ton of heaters everywhere. It uses the 'stuff' system so you can make them out of any color you want, and gives a you a reason to use some of that fancy stuff to make jade bathtubs and gold toilets and whatnot :)
      The terraforming mod i recommend is called "rainbeau's fertile fields". You need a LOT of work to turn things into fertile ground, but it allows for almost any type of terraforming, from rough rock to fertile field back to deep water if you want. It takes a lot of work and resources, and I feel like it's pretty balanced, because if you want dirt, you have to dig it up from somewhere else on the map. Other terraforming mods are too cheaty for my taste.

    from all the early access games I've bought over the years
    this is one of the only ones to actually start turning into a full product.
    the amount of times i wasted my money on games that jump out of alpha&beta in 2 months missing almost all of the essentials.

      No, the combat log is basically the most creative any random narrative generation can get, and is not exclusive to anything, especially dwarf fortress. Just like how rimworld's guns are basically the same as call of duty.

      wow. triggered much? I never said that its exclusive to dwarf fortress, I was just pointing out that this is almost exactly the same. Like, even the wording is the same such as body parts "exploding into gore" which is a well know saying among the DF community.
      Note how I also didn't say that it was a bad thing, and even said that it has more flavour in its combat log, like how to people fighting look at eat other, than dwarf fortress does.

      now when i see any game with a combat log im going to get on my hands and knees and pray to the dwarf fortress gods and thank them for a combat log which has been in games many times and isn't exclusive like you think it is and you are just as bad as dark souls fans saying a game is challenging so it must be like dark souls

      wow, a lot of people are super triggered by this simple fact. Yes, the combat log isn't exclusive to dwarf fortress, however this combat log in particular from the type of game its in to how the log is written, is almost completely identical, That was the whole point I was making.
      I said that the combat log is basically the same as dwarf fortress.
      You argue that combat logs aren't exclusive to dwarf fortress.
      I at no point ever said that they were. Stop arguing against something I never said.

      Dwarf Fortress has the most popular combat log system and Rimworld's is clearly inspired by it.

    Tynan love you're game and I love that you are a creator who plays with community mods and listens to the community while still going with you're original plan you're not like the others who throw there idea away and do what makes everyone happy or someone who won't change the original plan no matter how annoying something else is and you also care about the modders

    Strange, that officially it wasn't even in beta, yet. It was already a full game when it got released imho. Never experienced any bugs but instead lots of great stories and drama in my multiple groups of survivors. It just keeps getting bigger and better.

    This update is so fucking amazing!
    The orbital bombardment, the job queuing, and the caves in particular really makes me giddy with excitement!

    One of my favorite games before my pc was stolen and I miss this game very much, wish I could play but best of luck in moving forward with the game and looking forward to the day I may be able to play again

    Thank you, Tynan, for updating your awesome game! Umm... not to complain, but the audio for your voice tends to get softer then louder then softer (repeat, ad nauseaum). Might be a bad microphone.

    I dread updates due to my massive collection of mods. But at the same time im always excited to see whats new. Hopefully all my mods get updated to b18 soon, and hopefully i can still use my old saves though xD

    I'm still waiting for the map edge expansion and a turret upgrade and/or type expansion. Oh and, how about a total war-esque diplomacy system that makes conquered cities or factions pay tribute/send reinforcements in attacks. This would entail the introduction of sworn enemies or allies. This would provide further incentive for the player to get outside their spawn point, or build colonies - if the base count may increase. For quality of life, I think hand me that brick, or while you're up mods should be implemented into vanilla logistics to some extent. Boy, I'm asking for too much

      You can have up to 5 bases already. The map size is also changeable initially, just choose the one your cpu can still run.

      oh you could also have it so when a leader dies the reputation lessens a bit or if a friend of a colonist gets in power they'll improve

    Add multiplayer with just multiple clients and do not have mode, just give the host ACL control over everything. So the host could share control completely, only allow the guest to control in a certain area, or only able to build with a certain type of material. Think ss13 / mush assignments for guests. It’s a pipe dream I know
