I think its cause the man knows his limits and doesnt try to program things that are impossible for independent devs. Hes made a simple game easy to program but full of depth at the same time.

Thank you for this, but I am still very very very very confused :( I don't see how you get new abilities, and I also dont' see the white bar on his psyfocus bar that I have so I have no idea where to put it. Basically the only thing I understand is that the psyfocus bar is like mana and the heat bar is basically a cool down. So he's showing off these abilities and NOT explaining how to get them at all.
I wish all devs were like Tynan, his philosophy and dedication is legendary. To paraphrase his words, games are not packaged experiences but experience generators. How frickin' visionary is that?

There has been pretty good testing for a lot of mods on the RW testing discord. So many should work, or will update themselves alongside this RW update. Be sure to report any that do not work to the mod author of course!

Thank you so much for continuing to improve Rimworld! These new updates address many areas of the game to make it enjoyable to explore, and I love it! The balances so far have felt very fair, mostly taking away a lot of frustrations such as quests rewards and deep drilling like we saw in the last update. If I may suggest, can you at some point focus on improving caravans in the future? Specifically the creation of a caravan and maybe some quality of life changes to maintain caravans exploring a map. I've had in numerous situations when taking quests that pawns take too long to form the caravan, or in situations where I need immediate evacuation from a map, the pawn forces themselves to say sleep or look for food which creates a chain reaction where the caravan is delayed for extremely lengthy time and becomes unrecoverable, especially when their moods drop off the deep end. The aspect of traveling could benefit from some renovations and expansion to open up a new play styles in the future!

I have owned this game for over a year. I played it like 5 minutes once when I first got it and immediately uninstalled it. I just recently reinstalled it because of the steam spring cleaning thing, and omg I love it. I think it was very confusing to me the first time I tried to play it and I just didn't feel like trying to understand. Now that I have way more time on my hands this is an absolute gem of a game.

Man I've been missing out not watching these. I've only been a casual Netflix and chillax with Phoebe game once a winter or so and I've never really appreciated the nuances of the AI until recenetly. Watching this video really brings that front and center seeing you talk in detail about these really highlighted that. Ive always felt I was fighting my own characters AI when I played. A good example is stripping clothing off raiders than having my colonists bitch because they are wearing Tuk-Tuks shitty hat. But watching this channel has fixed those minor headaches. This game is amazing, thank you for continuing to support it

This is why i love you as a developer. Pretty much everyone's major complaint about the royalty expansion was the limited ways of getting the new abilities and now you have fleshed it out. I really appreciate that you listen to feedback and then improve upon it
Ideas for psycasts classes Morbid Raise the dead - Reanimate corpse for a few hours and take control of it like any other pawn. Plague - A DOT that also inflicts varies ailments on the target which reduces combat effectiveness. Nature Tangle - Roots come out of the ground for a small AOE and binds pawns in place for a short period of time. Swarm - AOE cast that summons insects underground and the insects aggro against your enemies. Royal Inspire - Large AOE, a boost to combat effectiveness for friendly pawns that last a few hours Rally - Large AOE, downed pawns get back up with a temporary toughness bonus Tech (just an idea for a new psy class) Reprogram - This is a very costly psy cast. A mech is permanently taken over and becomes a pawn under your control. The psy caster is comatose for many days after casting reprogram. Mechs as of now are only useful for combat this could change in future updates. Turret - Summon a turret in place that last a few hours before it falls apart.
@@a.g.rapista7267 Psycasts is already and it's not completed yet. Expect to see more psycast revisions and additions. It's an excellent way to expand the game not just in combat either. I'm assuming you object to this. Maybe a simple solution is to have the option to turn off psycasts with every new game.
@@martimking1craft it's a mater of opinion, for the raise dead psycast you can explain it that nanites enter a corpse and activate and control the corpse directly and after a few hours the nanites lose power and break apart.
So cool that you've been polishing and updating the game for a while now, I have RimWorld for a few years and I am thanking you for making it. I really wish to get the Royalty update one day but it's kinda out of my money-for-game zone. But, if I ever have enough/get enough I'll for sure buy it! RimWorld is a pretty big deal now, It's awesome! I really like how you're polishing Royalty DLC, but a part of the normal non-DLC game seems to be missing. I just can't tell what is missing but the game is alredy good! Something that feels like it's missing: Fishing (I know there are mods, but surely the developers could do something much better), hunting system is good, but I wish there's like option where I can set hunters to auto-hunt until there's x amount of raw food or meals in storage so I don't have to micro manage, but also there could be automatic hunting zones where animals are killed like inside my base I set it and all wild animals are killed. Also, it's kinda weird that you can sow/plant any crop without seeds, I wish that some wild plants with seeds could be found in wild (depending on area) or bought from traders and then sowed (and later from sowing and good harvesting more seeds will be gotten), I feel like that domestic animals are missing in non-DLC game (I think there's no sheep, only cows and bulls, but it also just might be for Royalty DLC, not sure) some animals could be goats, sheep and pigs (and let's say that domestic animals are gotten from like wild animals or bought from traders, for example, if we tame male and female wild pigs (forgot name lol) and they breed, the batch of piglets will be classical pink pigs and have more meat, same for goat and sheep), then I hope this gets added, like 2 or 3 more story tellers (Like we have Randy, Casandra and Phoebe, I really wish the 2 new ones could be diffrent like one is half randy and half casandra, one (random) periods could be where the story teller acts as Casandra and then (random) periods where story teller acts as Randy, and another storyteller that favour raids (Like they come more often but we original colonists have defense/attack buffs) and I wish that each story teller gives buffs and kind of helps the player (For example, Randy Random has so much stuff happening, he can have a whole bunch of buffs, but they're smaller ones like 2-5% and Phoebe Chillax could have the buff for gathering, farming or building because she focuses on peace and thus this would be even more helpful, and Casandra Classic could have (like Randy) whole bunch of buffs, but not as much as Randy). Well, this is my update rant for non-DLC game, once again thanks for making RimWorld and I am sorry for not writing this on Steam Review but unfourtunately I feel like it won't get noticed, game is 10/10 would (and will) play again. Cya.
One of my favorite games to watch people play even more than just enjoying myself. These new tweaks will hopefully encourage more elaborate room designs too.
Have you any thoughts about doing more with Mechanoids? Like being able to research some of the smaller buildings they drop like the alarms and such, maybe being able to reverse engineer some of their tech like weapons, shields or power supplies? Right now while they are a threat they feel strangely shallow, and it feels like such a waste of good tech to just destroy it.
Should definitely expand more on how you get extra skills and depth (psycasters) from different areas with different unique characteristics - like the nature meditation and so nature powers like the thunderstorm and maybe the more scientific flavored unique powers and upgrade path from the royals. that's a pretty cool concept - you choose which path you wanna go down and they have again their own uniqueness pros and cons and gameplay etc. maybe you could do some sort of death/necromancy/voodoo centered one based on dead and defeated bodies (maybe stronger regen or powers based off stronger enemies killed) or a beastial based off animals, maybe bigger and better ones tamed for regen/upgrade etc.
Rim world has honestly paid off in spades, it was a great investment. I can barely recognize it from when I first played. Thank you for all your hard work and ingenuity.

Mod compatibility aside (for now...) I do really like the changes you are coming up with. I like the feel the game has taken. It reminds me a bit of star wars in the way that it's a science-fantasy: infant societies using ancient technology they barely understand. The changes and updates to the psychic system is fantastic.

Also duno if this gets read or not but an idea I also posted on the forums 2 years ago: would be nice if the colonists saved with the ship would get saved somewhere in the main menu so I could maybe later have people from all my playthroughs crash somewhere together. It adds a lot to the replayability and its always nice to have some collecting in your game. Maybe you want to make a criple team from all your past playthroughs with people who should not have survived but got carried to the end or just a team with your strongest fully modified people. Just an idea but I would realy love that.
I really appreciate the quest item choice change, pretty much every quest that pops up for me offers some sort of psy shirt and I'm not really using psychic powers at the moment so I've been avoiding them to keep from inflating my colonies wealth, it's nice to know I'll be able to choose from a wider selection now
I would really love to one day be worthy on being on staff for the development of this game, because I really enjoy both the creative vision and the freelance-focused company behind it. Also, I really agree with the idea you present in the video about branching the ways you can play, and that can be said for vanilla game too, seeing how there is a suffocating amount of things to do if not to just complete the game with escape-the-planet way, but I think all of these things are a bit lacking in climax. LIke there is a great feel of freedom with lack of goal, so I suggest you make more changes on the side of players playstyle having an attainable endless goal, to feel the negative possibility space. Entire factions getting addicted your drugs if you offer/supply them rapidly, prisoners being forced into labor and obeying wardens, overuse of psychic abilities causing ripples in the psychic background of the planet. That said, I am really happy to see your vision coming into life, and I am not dissapointed by a lack of scope after release. Bravo, Ludeon, bravo..

This "Visionary Idea" is super old. Roguelikes and Dwarf Fortress have done this way before Tynan did.

I think that's why there's an option in the mods loader/launcher to create local copies of your mods.

One of the changes you dont talk about much but I LOVE is the multiple quest rewards, really makes quests more strategic.

Man I've been missing out not watching these. I've only been a casual Netflix and chillax with Phoebe game once a winter or so and I've never really appreciated the nuances of the AI until recenetly. Watching this video really brings that front and center seeing you talk in detail about these really highlighted that. Ive always felt I was fighting my own characters AI when I played. A good example is stripping clothing off raiders than having my colonists bitch because they are wearing Tuk-Tuks shitty hat. But watching this channel has fixed those minor headaches. This game is amazing, thank you for continuing to support it

This is why i love you as a developer. Pretty much everyone's major complaint about the royalty expansion was the limited ways of getting the new abilities and now you have fleshed it out. I really appreciate that you listen to feedback and then improve upon it
Ideas for psycasts classes
Morbid
Raise the dead - Reanimate corpse for a few hours and take control of it like any other pawn.
Plague - A DOT that also inflicts varies ailments on the target which reduces combat effectiveness.
Nature
Tangle - Roots come out of the ground for a small AOE and binds pawns in place for a short period of time.
Swarm - AOE cast that summons insects underground and the insects aggro against your enemies.
Royal
Inspire - Large AOE, a boost to combat effectiveness for friendly pawns that last a few hours
Rally - Large AOE, downed pawns get back up with a temporary toughness bonus
Tech (just an idea for a new psy class)
Reprogram - This is a very costly psy cast. A mech is permanently taken over and becomes a pawn under your control. The psy caster is comatose for many days after casting reprogram. Mechs as of now are only useful for combat this could change in future updates.
Turret - Summon a turret in place that last a few hours before it falls apart.
Chill buddy. This is not an rpg dungeon crawler lol
@@a.g.rapista7267 Psycasts is already and it's not completed yet. Expect to see more psycast revisions and additions. It's an excellent way to expand the game not just in combat either. I'm assuming you object to this. Maybe a simple solution is to have the option to turn off psycasts with every new game.
I think some of your skills doesn't make much sense as psychic abilities
@@martimking1craft it's a mater of opinion, for the raise dead psycast you can explain it that nanites enter a corpse and activate and control the corpse directly and after a few hours the nanites lose power and break apart.
So cool that you've been polishing and updating the game for a while now, I have RimWorld for a few years and I am thanking you for making it. I really wish to get the Royalty update one day but it's kinda out of my money-for-game zone. But, if I ever have enough/get enough I'll for sure buy it! RimWorld is a pretty big deal now, It's awesome! I really like how you're polishing Royalty DLC, but a part of the normal non-DLC game seems to be missing. I just can't tell what is missing but the game is alredy good! Something that feels like it's missing: Fishing (I know there are mods, but surely the developers could do something much better), hunting system is good, but I wish there's like option where I can set hunters to auto-hunt until there's x amount of raw food or meals in storage so I don't have to micro manage, but also there could be automatic hunting zones where animals are killed like inside my base I set it and all wild animals are killed. Also, it's kinda weird that you can sow/plant any crop without seeds, I wish that some wild plants with seeds could be found in wild (depending on area) or bought from traders and then sowed (and later from sowing and good harvesting more seeds will be gotten), I feel like that domestic animals are missing in non-DLC game (I think there's no sheep, only cows and bulls, but it also just might be for Royalty DLC, not sure) some animals could be goats, sheep and pigs (and let's say that domestic animals are gotten from like wild animals or bought from traders, for example, if we tame male and female wild pigs (forgot name lol) and they breed, the batch of piglets will be classical pink pigs and have more meat, same for goat and sheep), then I hope this gets added, like 2 or 3 more story tellers (Like we have Randy, Casandra and Phoebe, I really wish the 2 new ones could be diffrent like one is half randy and half casandra, one (random) periods could be where the story teller acts as Casandra and then (random) periods where story teller acts as Randy, and another storyteller that favour raids (Like they come more often but we original colonists have defense/attack buffs) and I wish that each story teller gives buffs and kind of helps the player (For example, Randy Random has so much stuff happening, he can have a whole bunch of buffs, but they're smaller ones like 2-5% and Phoebe Chillax could have the buff for gathering, farming or building because she focuses on peace and thus this would be even more helpful, and Casandra Classic could have (like Randy) whole bunch of buffs, but not as much as Randy). Well, this is my update rant for non-DLC game, once again thanks for making RimWorld and I am sorry for not writing this on Steam Review but unfourtunately I feel like it won't get noticed, game is 10/10 would (and will) play again. Cya.
One of my favorite games to watch people play even more than just enjoying myself. These new tweaks will hopefully encourage more elaborate room designs too.
Have you any thoughts about doing more with Mechanoids? Like being able to research some of the smaller buildings they drop like the alarms and such, maybe being able to reverse engineer some of their tech like weapons, shields or power supplies? Right now while they are a threat they feel strangely shallow, and it feels like such a waste of good tech to just destroy it.

I like how the further you get into the video the more his colony descends into chaos.
Should definitely expand more on how you get extra skills and depth (psycasters) from different areas with different unique characteristics - like the nature meditation and so nature powers like the thunderstorm and maybe the more scientific flavored unique powers and upgrade path from the royals. that's a pretty cool concept - you choose which path you wanna go down and they have again their own uniqueness pros and cons and gameplay etc. maybe you could do some sort of death/necromancy/voodoo centered one based on dead and defeated bodies (maybe stronger regen or powers based off stronger enemies killed) or a beastial based off animals, maybe bigger and better ones tamed for regen/upgrade etc.
Still one of the best games i've ever played and will be playing.
Rim world has honestly paid off in spades, it was a great investment. I can barely recognize it from when I first played. Thank you for all your hard work and ingenuity.

Also, really glad to see psychic hangovers removed as part of the meditation system, as they were the reason I was apprehensive to use abilities.
Mod compatibility aside (for now...) I do really like the changes you are coming up with. I like the feel the game has taken. It reminds me a bit of star wars in the way that it's a science-fantasy: infant societies using ancient technology they barely understand. The changes and updates to the psychic system is fantastic.
tynan, you're the best. thank you for this amazing game. i don't think any story-tel- no. any game in general could be better than this. you're one of- NO! THE BEST DEVELOPER EVER! this game is something that if i never found, my life wouldn't be the same. and yes, although that sounds dramatic, it really is the truth. thank you for just being the best developer i've seen, and thank you for making this perfect game. ^^ (and yes, although you may never see this comment, i had to say this)

Also duno if this gets read or not but an idea I also posted on the forums 2 years ago: would be nice if the colonists saved with the ship would get saved somewhere in the main menu so I could maybe later have people from all my playthroughs crash somewhere together. It adds a lot to the replayability and its always nice to have some collecting in your game. Maybe you want to make a criple team from all your past playthroughs with people who should not have survived but got carried to the end or just a team with your strongest fully modified people. Just an idea but I would realy love that.

I really appreciate the quest item choice change, pretty much every quest that pops up for me offers some sort of psy shirt and I'm not really using psychic powers at the moment so I've been avoiding them to keep from inflating my colonies wealth, it's nice to know I'll be able to choose from a wider selection now

I would really love to one day be worthy on being on staff for the development of this game, because I really enjoy both the creative vision and the freelance-focused company behind it.
Also, I really agree with the idea you present in the video about branching the ways you can play, and that can be said for vanilla game too, seeing how there is a suffocating amount of things to do if not to just complete the game with escape-the-planet way, but I think all of these things are a bit lacking in climax.
LIke there is a great feel of freedom with lack of goal, so I suggest you make more changes on the side of players playstyle having an attainable endless goal, to feel the negative possibility space.
Entire factions getting addicted your drugs if you offer/supply them rapidly, prisoners being forced into labor and obeying wardens, overuse of psychic abilities causing ripples in the psychic background of the planet.
That said, I am really happy to see your vision coming into life, and I am not dissapointed by a lack of scope after release. Bravo, Ludeon, bravo..
