    Man every time I start to get tired of Rim world you update it with some sweet stuff. Have you tossed around an abandoned city biome? I'd love a feature where you could take your colonists outside your zone into surrounding zones to scavenge, attack other camps, etc. Keep up the good work

      GI Josh Abandoned city biome is sorta possible with def tweaks. Theres a thread on the forums if you feel like doing it. (Can't find it right now, sorry.)

      AwwwhYyyyeah I think this can work similarly to Sim City 4 with cities connecting to each other and providing power and what not.

    I feel like if the wargs were out for food, they'd continue eating an incapacitated colonist rather than leaving them to bleed out. Couldn't be happier about the floor removal though (SO GOOD)!
    It'll be interesting to see how old killzones will be modified, though I imagine most people will go with a long hallway and incendiary IEDs. Something like a labyrinth of sorts. Once they get half-way through it, swing around the side and block them in and watch them toast in the fire. Perhaps the improved AI will realize there's multiple paths and won't all flood together into what would be the longest possible route? Very interesting..

      ***** im sure he will improve the animal AI later, its basic AI which all pawns in the game use except modified to make it a bit more immersive for each thing, animals are based of human AI so they wont "finish" off a incapacitated survivor but your right would be real interesting to see animals who are out for flesh do that.

    I think i'm addicted to this game its just to fun. Tynan also your a great game developer and it's so nice to see someone like you actually pay attention to the community through Reddit and responding to posts on the forum. I'm happy your not one of those people who would've taken the money and ran instead you stook to it and continue to make an amazing game with countless hours of replay ability in it. To put things shortly thank you for making this game and continuing to support it :)

    For the toxic fallout, you should add gasmasks which null the effect!( Or they slow down the time it takes to add the disease.) This also brings me to another point, which is to add more customized clothes. Gasmasks would be one of them, of course. You could find ancient armor of some sorts in the cryptosleep pods that randomly spawn in your world.You could also add something that makes it where in order to escape, you must have space suits. Ok, after the clothing points, I come to my second thing. (Thanks for staying through this) In order to escape, you should have to load food/nutrients into the ship. You could also make it to where you make an interior to the ship. If you wanted, you could make it to where you have to survive a month in space, so you could get raided by space pirates, have to fix the breaching hole with your newly added space suits, and such. I know these are some wacky ideas, but I think they could be cool. The special clothing would be the coolest.

    I really like the new warg event, and the fleeing captive one. I think my biggest concern with the new sappers is that I don't want to wind up playing Wall Building Simulator 2014 my entire session and never make any progress. I'd love to see an option toggle or zone toggle or something that made it be considered a repair order to auto-rebuild anything destroyed by a non-player. So if mortar shells make holes, they'll patch it, lightning fire burns down an out building, they'll rebuild those walls; and when sappers carve new tunnels in to the base they'll plug the hole with stone wall etc.

    Would still really really love to see some type of guard system, like assigning a guard for a night shift and have them climb onto a wall (maybe only half the height or something) so they have clear line of sight and get a patrol of sorts goings. With that request I understand if it takes quite a while to work out, you've already given us so much. Maybe a Modder could pick this idea up.

      I don't know about that. It would be like a moving wall mounted turret, with a fixed range, all be it a much less affective one for a time. But even if there was fog of war i wouldn't mind, This game is great no matter what happens really.

    I love RimWorld. Especially since I expect it to be expanded on.
    At the moment, the research is lackluster. The manufacturing process takes so long if you keep your research in mind. There is absolutely no opportunity to speed up anything, except for manufacturing food.
    I simply feel like there are no tiers for defenses and manufacturing. There are 2 for medicine, maybe.
    It really takes a lot of time to train your people, but this is a point to keep I think. Would be no impact over loss if you could train your pawns to become masters of all trades.
    But especially for a late game, there is imo not much to do. You don't often have that much iron, nor do you have a lot of plasteel. If you'd go for a long game, you probably want a bigger count of colonists. But you actually can't do much after the initial setup of the economy, I think.
    Remote large turrets, mechs or something what gives the colonists armor and firepower. Something like a tank, a watchtower, a mech. Would be something to research and a project to produce.
    In general, projects are really sparse. The only thing you could do is to build a spaceship. If you want to escape with all your colonists, you'd need a lot of cryo caskets and these plasteel connections. But that's it.
    IMO, the late game is pretty shallow. I hope, if you consider to wrap up the developement, that this is what you will be working on.

      Gordon S. I agree with all your points, and I understand that the late game does seem shallow especially for a heavy rimworlder myself. However, have you tried all the mods that are available? They add a lot of fun content to the game that makes it much more difficult! As well as like Tynan said he added another biome for you to try to defeat. If you seem like you've still done that much, I always reccomend you doing challenges for yourself to keep the game interesting. For instance defeating Extreme Cassandra with only five colonists, or defeating her without building a base into a mountain, etc etc.

      ***** No mods answer: This, and this is entirely my opinion and might only be me, is like grinding. I don't like to grind anymore on a concept I have already figured out. I rarely replay games I have beaten once if the concept or story doesn't change, if it takes more than a dozen hours. If you wanted to compare this game with Prison Architect, I *feel* like Prison Architect gives you much more controlled variables to be entertained with along new prisons. Also, PA gives you an amazing easy mode, where you start with the funds you earned with your previous prison. A New Game+, so to speak.
      RimWorld could do this, too. Easily. Let the player found a new colony with old colonists.
      Don't get me wrong. I know about the options you mention and think these are legit and viable, also not as niche as I might make them out to be. Maybe this is just my taste.
      With mods answer: You're totally right. The only thing that holds me back from this is the developement, since most interesting mods need to catch up with the updates. Of course they have to. I already tried it out, but even some mods need polish before I can digest them. For example, I had the most popular mod on Nexus installed, which gives you more to do in everything, more guns, etc. Forgot the name. And after some months in game time in every colony, I got barraged by raids and disasters. Nobody complained about this, so this might be something with my specific game setup and I shut up about this. Yes, this was after the story teller hotfix, etc. But I rather wait for polishing before sinking dozens of hours into pure frustration, again.
      Nonetheless: You're totally right and I'm already excited about this. But, imo, purely my opinion(!!!), a game developer should never, ever, ever rely on mods for a satisfying product. I don't think that Ludeon does that, but I could be wrong IF by any case they really let the end game in the state it is in right now. It's a pretty good game, but this point would leave a rather bad taste in my mouth.
      Yeah, but then again, they did implement proper modability into their game. And that is something they can be proud of. I really mean this. Whish many more games would do that.

      Gordon S. i know what you are saying and its true, im a hardcore rimworld player and i know these things all too well, the main problem rimworld has now is exactly late game, i had seperate runs with 10+ years on one colony, tried it all, 13 people, 30 people, those crazy invades when you get 100+ tribes people or 20+ centipedes. its like this, if i play it on anything else except the hardest settings its no challenge, and playing on hardest you get overwhelmed at a point and verry soon if you dont follow an almost same patern, which brings me to another problem, this game has the best potential for a strategic fight its beautifull, the way the colonists behave the way you use cover in the enviroment, the different weapons range and abillities its just sad to be overun later on when your strategy vs brute force starts to fail, and fast, making you resort to only brute force and just forcing you to hole up in a mountain and to build death boxes with turrets, i was never a fan of that, neither the mountain tactic nor the turrets, so i tried few runs with only colonists, but again theres nothing to draw fire so you have to resort to the turrets and mountains tactic again, which is SAD! such a beautifull combat behaviour concept with so much strategy potential ruined! but this new AI tactics the sappers is i think the way to go, we dont need more and more brute charging enemies, we just need clever enemies. i hate to see such a beautifully designed game geting a wining patern, its always hole up in a mountain and stack defenses, yes you can build outside but thats plain suicide
      apart from all that i keep coming back to rimworld always it amazes me myself not sure when a game got me so entertained that i like to replay it so much even with these problems, amazing
      another thing i would like to see more in rimworld is more enemie diversety
      its a space sim so you can imagine all kinds of crazy stuff attacking your collony
      i tried some mods like the "horrors" where alien like creatures attack your collony and "ants" where giant ant queens spawn on edges of the map breeding non stop little ant soldiers that keep attacking your collony until you destroy the queens, amazing challenging mods which some of the ideas i feel they need to be part of the original game, to draw you out to fight to make you think strategize not just bunker ftw

    Great work Tynan. I agree with your comment just before the end of the video that the game as it is has a lot going on to keep the player involved.
    That said I'd love to see 2 or 3 more content additions before it turned BETA for polishing. So many tools, scenarios, crafting options, foes etc that could be added. I realise that that could go on forever, but I'd love to see 3 patches more of solid gameplay content.
    But if there is not much more to come I can hardly complain. This and Gnomoria have sucked thousands of hours in the last year or two. All of which have been really enjoyable

    This has come so far since the first Alphas :) The modders are going to have fun with all the new stuff!!! being able to build a moat would be awesome with the sappers, I'd build a strait up castle and watch how they try to breach the defences. That's half the fun. I've really lost track of how many hours I've sunk into this game....

    I bought this game back at Alpha 1, and it's so fun to see how it advances. Wonderful work Tynan!
    One thought: it seems like early game has become more complex as more features have been added. Even I have trouble getting the basics established with a new game; I usually cheat and add two extra colonists. Consider something to help that first 30m of a new game.

    Wow I never noticed until these wargs that no one in Rimworld is animated or has legs. The fact that wargs have visible legs and that they don't animate while they walk is incredibly jarring. I hope that either animation will eventually be implmented, or wargs be replaced with a more shaggy long haired species of canine that doesn't look like it's rollerblading down the countryside

      Tynan Sylvester Wait a minute you can't be almost done there's still things you can add better prisoner/guest interactions, animal husbandry fixing brain damage, tamable pets maybe, build able robots theres loads.(At this point in time it definitely isn't half a game though fully playable) Please keep adding stuff.

      GOOGLE STAHP PLZ No way! I really like the way they aren't animated at all. Its definitely just the way the game is styled. Prison Architect is the same way, and in Magika all the animals are like wooden block toys that are animated by hopping up and down, haha.

    Sappers were definitely needed, glad that they're in this game now! I hope you don't stop adding more things. Every time you do it makes the game a lot better. I'd personally like a deeper social aspect to the game. Arguments and drama and reconciliation! All you can tell is that colonists talk to each other, but I'd like to be able to peek into what they're talking about. The Sims and Clockwork Empires have those speech bubbles with little pictographs.
    Besides you already have my money. Therefore you must listen to my ideas! Right? D:

    If you make your base in a mountain and keep making it larger by going deeper into the mountain, the sappers will still go into your main entrance where you'd have all of your turrets. Building along the mountain wall will have the sappers mine through rather than going to your front entrance.

    Hey Tynan Sylvester , will we ever see more coastlines? ie on the world map the landing area has water on 3 sides so we have 3 coastlines on the in game map, rather than just one?

    Is that door forbid thing fixed the visitors trap(so only your colony that cant go in/out, making the visitors can go out), and do you fix the changing story teller bug?

    The new raiders get pretty crafty, I had a great bunker full of turrets and after a few attempts to breach that area they learned to dig around it. I had to send out a squad to deal with the tunnel rats.

    Tynan, you should add the ability to tame Wargs and Muffalo. If you knocked out a Warg/other animal, you could capture it and feed it meat. After a while, the Warg would not attack you, but it could attack raiders! If you tame muffalo, this could bring in the item of "Muffalo Milk", which you could use as a healing property or as a food. Muffalo Milk could be a required ingredient in Lavish Meals and Beer.

    Now that you have personal shields, stationary shields for turrets or other important buildings would be a good thing to add. They could require research and a personal shield to build.

    great additions.
    have you considered adding different levels? i mean height levels. because now it's just noroof-thinroof-thickroof. i know it would take some thinking/programming to implement...so just asking if you considered it at all.

    I also think that the game starts to get to a complete game. but i would like some more defensive options.
    Like other turret variations or the ability to use the weapons from the mechanoids as turrets. Automatic or as static guns used by the colonists.
    For other feedback i will first play this update and see what the tweaks are. Because most systems in the game seem nicely done and balanced.

    Great update tynan, but i agree with some ppl, that guard towers would be nice, set up a sniper nest. Implementing money, or a job system would be neat to. More research for armor/weapons/defences.

      Phil Dickleson Wait do the animals actually have needs? ie if a muffalo doesn't eat grass does it die? Or if the Wargs don't eat? I think they might not have needs, and if not this just became a lot easier to pull off.

    Tynan, big thing that's missing from the game at the moment: The ability to send a raid party/group of visitors to other factions' bases. I think the game's pretty great at the moment, but being confined to that one space while people from the outside can come to you feels a little restrictive.

    The toxic fallout is interesting. I remember one of the super early prototypes having an oxygen system. It kind of reminds me of that.

    I really like the direction the game is going and I agree that the game feels like it is nearing completion. I just hope that you expand on the faction system before the final release because it has a lot of potential.

      Jancey Ordovas i think they need to add a few things like the ability to raid other bases and to have diplomatic relations. like trade agreements (where faction traders come and go) as well as Alliances where both could request military help without the harsh good will penalty currently implemented in the game.

    Less earth like animals. You're in space! More space creatures! "Why not Zoidberg?"
    Pets and Livestock.
    Fences.
    Villages that already exist in the world and random chance of settlers. Compete for resources or KILL THEM?! Based off faction.

    I restate my idea.
    Replace sappers with vehicles that ram the base, max capacity of 4, making 2 people hang onto the vehicle, and given a chance to be knocked off and injured/killed.
    Alternate option, they crash the car nearby, and use the car as cover outside of the base, shooting at the base, and as another alternative, give them 1 RPG shot to shoot.
    Cons, discourages bases that aren't inside mountains. To fix that, have the enemy send a scout, to find the weakest spot in the area, but if they fail, they rush the base, and likely fail, hitting the wrong wall they can't bust through. Also make them consider if its a double wall or a single.
    Also, the settlement needs more advanced items to survive, and I highly doubt they aren't able to do so, considering they are capable of space travel and Cryopods! They need better equipment to survive.
    Please at least look up realistic future tech concepts that "Theorize" they could work.

    If you start to run out of ideas you could make an event that has a strange worm species appear, and they slowly creep into the corpses laying on the field. Once they burrow into a corpse, the corpse becomes alive and can crawl towards humans and animals. They can spread disease and freak the colonists out. Just a thought. It could add some interesting gameplay.

    The "Toxic Fallout" and "Volcanic Winter" disasters seems fun for those who love an Apocalypse Scenario (Or someone who wants to enact an "Fallout" Scenario), which is apparently the one who is writing this comment. Can wait to get Intoxicated with high levels of Chemicals.
    (I wonder if the chemicals will make one mutate or go crazy)

    I just downloaded the update but, it seems my old save from alpha 10 is not compatible with 11. Is there a fix? I really don't wanna start from scratch again.

      lonewolfreaper21 nope same with every major update (Alpha 10 --> 11) you have to start again due to the base coding being re-worked only hotfix updates tend to be save compatible (Alpha 10a, 10b, 10c etc)

    Excellent, now I can strip the corpses of my enemies without having to do it manually (muahahaha). That's a load off my shoulders right there.
    You should also consider gas masks for a future update. Maybe make them only purchase-able since they'd be pretty hard to make. Though, I can see it only slowing the toxic fallout since the toxins might be absorbed through the skin. Still, if you've got a settlement of many buildings that have to be walked between, it might help your builder to convert the base so you don't have to exit it. Y'know, without him or her dying and all.

    Hmm it seems that alpha 11 is encouraging hybrid bases now (mountain/open) due to the sappers and fallout event.

      ***** Well I go for 'outside' bases usually, with a wall round the outside. Having a single block thick wall isn't going to do anything against sappers now.
      Plus, because of the fallout, your colonists moving between buildings, just doing what they do best, is going to expose them to more fallout than if they were scurrying around in a mountain base.

      Have your got an example of an out door base with everything connected? I tried to do it once, but I'm a terrible planner and my colony ended up really convoluted.

    I know you said the game feels finished, but I hope you keep working on it for a while because it doesn't feel finished to me. Don't get me wrong it is already good, but I think there is a lot more you could do with it.

    I'll be honest, at this point the only thing I feel like this game needs is practice dummies and shooting targets. As it stands, there's no viable way to increase your colonists combat skills (especially melee) without putting them at risk or possibly wasting resources. It's a small thing and it's in a lot of mod packs but, I feel like it belongs in the base game. That said, I've been here since the first alpha update and it's been awesome to watch this game develop. May this game do exceptionally well upon official release!

    I was thinking it would be an interesting idea to implement breeding. For example, capturing wargs and breeding them as domesticated animals to defend against raiders. It could also serve as another source of food.

      Benjamin Lyon As it stands, you could actually lock them in a room with a side room connected to the base for food, which is generally locked. Lock the door to the warg's room, open the door to the main area, put food inside, lock the door and open the one connected to the wargs. When raiders come, release the wargs to use as a weapon.
