      I don't think that could happen, eventually people will stop buying the game as its market isn't as large as minecrafts. If he doesn't earn money from it, I doubt he could afford to continue developing it.

      Tynan is one of those special developers. He really cares for his game, and he really doesn't buy into the new trend of releasing unfinished/unfun early access games that you buy in the hopes of having a good game in a couple years

      maybe some day in the far off future we'll be able to establish trade. Not sure if he has any plans for multiplayer but player trade could add an interesting dynamic.

    Ever thought of adding the toilets?
    Or maybe some personal stuff into colonist rooms? Because, to make them happy, you need, like, a 6x6 room. But it's just an empty box at this stage, some shelves, work desks and so forth would be really nice, honestly.

      there are mods for everything. Hell, my usual game of RimWorld involves at least 20 of them.
      Buuuuut.
      I'd still like to see it official. Also, if it had some real function, that'd be even better.

      It would kinda make sense if there is.
      IRL you cant just shock people until they are unconscious, this means that you could litteraly kill the guy who you would have captured otherwise. If they added this feature it would mean that you could have an option to try and stun someone in case you dont have any medicine to heal them, but this is also risky because you could damage their organs, or kill them in general OR stun them and capture them without any more harm.

    Hey Tynan! Just saw that at 1:05 the character (Dominic) was one of mine, I created him as part of the original Kickstarter pledge reward. Nice to see him in an official video!

    I fell like v16 should rework combat in some way.
    Randomly generated weapon traits, like Heavy pistol, or Scoped PDW. Possibly a crafting station for weapon attachments that can be crafted, sold, or bought.
    The weapons wouldn't even have to look different, just have a new tab under attachments similar to the medical one for colonists. Just a bill system.
    All those weapon mods really break the vanilla gameplay, because all the weapons are from the 21st century, and don't feel natural to a sci-fi game.
    P.S.
    Can Extended Prosthetics and Organ Engineering become a canon part to the game?

      you got every kind of civilication in rimworld
      tribes with clubs, armored medieval troops, societys that are the same level as us and very futuristic rich worlds (called glitterworlds btw)

    Hey Tynan, I love the game and watching you give a candid update video is nothing to be overlooked! Many major developers don't go in-depth like you did here and instead rely on reviewers and UA-camrs to do this for them.

    my favourite changes are the lower chance of friendly fire and getting caught in your own traps.
    friendly fire made having multiple hunters a death sentence due to them constantly wandering through each other's line of fire. i'd rather they be a bit smarter about that, but every little bit helps.

      What about those pirates that are a pain too recruit. Give them stacks of the stuff. Ok, they might start going into a rampage and you might find bits of pirate around your prison but they will be happy...I think

    Wow, a game dev with all the charisma of a let's player? I see some potential there for some pretty unique content. I'd love to see a "Tynan plays" series on RimWorld. There certainly wouldn't be any awkwardness of trying to figure out the mechanics.

    Hey Tynan, i love your work, RimWorld is really great. I have played it for nearly 100 hours already. Really looking forward to make my colonist high with this new update! :D
    What i would like to see as a feature in the future would be the option to use prisoners to my advantage, especially if they are nearly impossible to recruit. Nothing to fancy, but being able to have them cleaning their own cells, crafting blocks for me to build with or sewing prison clothing for themselves would be very useful. Just simple tasks they have to complete. Probably a colonist could take the prisoners out of their cell and make them clean for him, thereby multiplying the work force: One warden takes multiple prisoners with him, guarding them while they clean, holding the risk of them reaching weapons and trying to escape. And maybe the possibility to combine assigned tasks with a threat: No clean cell, no food for you!
    These are just ideas i had and wanted to share them with you.

    Hey Tynan there's a little type bug thing in the game with wolfs it says they have social packs but you never find a map with a pack of wolf always alone it would be cool if they hunted in packs and attack people in packs haha just something to say I love they game your awesome

    Hey Tynan. I just bought your game last week on steam and I wanted to say I'm having a great time with it. I'm usually very strongly against early access games, especially ones with price tags over $15. Fortunately I made and exception with your game and I am very happy I did. Hope you keep up the great work! the tutorial system was a big help at the start. P.s. I've dabbled in some mods and so far my favorite mod is the increased stack size. I will admit this mod is a little game breaking, but In my opinion it helps with some items that have a stack limit too low. things like wood, steel, raw foods(potatoes, rice) I feel could use a slight increase in vanilla stack size. Thanks for the great game!.

    This was really needed and probably a good time to release it. ESPECIALLY since a great deal of your later gameplay seems to be entirely dependent upon your first seasons decisions.

    I bought this game literally yesterday and have already played for 8 hours, I love this!
    I'm aware of the early access status, but as I played I missed a few things that I would love to see in the final version!
    First of, the Map is kinda small, I would suggest to expand the map (maybe double the size? I don't know what technical restrictions you may encounter, though) I know, the mapsize is ok for the current task, but if this game gets more complicated over time (which is a good thing!) you might need a bigger map, but thats kinda obvious ;P
    Would be cool to see other colonies in the distance so you might attack them and take all their stuff, or befriend them.
    Also more furniture would be cool, I know the goal is to leave the planet, but some people (me included) also want to build a fancy home, ;P
    I have some more ideas, but I think you have your own roadmap, you are doing great! One more Indie-title which is worth its money, love it! Already signed up, so I can help you with the german translation!

    Not sure if you take suggestions, but I'd love to be able to prioritize hauling/wood chopping/hunting/ etc. all items or animals or whatever in an area. For example, you click and drag a box around some steel, right click one of the pieces of steel and prioritize hauling, and the colonist would haul all the steel, as opposed to just one unit? There's been many times I've sat and prioritized hauling each piece individually and some time saving like this would be nice. Thanks.

    So, I've noticed lot of gamers that rush through aren't reading those really neat, unobtrusive tutorial messages. Maybe put a flashing little dot or gold star next to them to draw their eyes in... Or a dancing Muffalo.
    I vote for the dancing muffalo. ^^
    Also, now I want a muffalo plushie...

    i just hope fishing gets added at some point, and fishing in deep water would get you other animals, that would be amazing. And you could add ice holes for ice sheet biomes to help out their food problem.

    I'm really loving the developmemt of character traits-when I first started playing I barely bothered with them, only looking at skills. But I really enjoy seeing em now-one of my favourite colonists is slothful but came with artistic and social at 18, and the interplay between the sort of game-wise elements to the pawn really makes their character. She's a prodigy but she's a slowpoke, he's amazing but he breathes heavily, etc.

    I like the changes to brewing to try to make it more realistic - the only thing is you need to require a grain too. The grain is what makes beer - hops is just a flavoring. Ideally Barley would be the appropriate grain but wheat and Corn could work. Also you could add a tech upgrade to brewing for a still to turn wort into spirits. Grow Barley to make beer and wheat, Potatoes, Agave, corn, or Barley to make spirits from wort. Potatoes=Vodka, Agave = tequila, Barley, Corn and Wheat = Whiskey or Moonshine. Different varieties could have different values to certain factions/traders and pawns could have a preference and get more happiness from their preferred spirit.

    half my colony became addicted to different things, and my medical room looks more like a rehab house more than anything else now....
    of course I just let them be and made every drug social and available...
    love also the Beer binge and the food binge states of depression when figthing addiction...
    MAN I love this game

    Hopefully We'll see a combat overhaul soon, i think adding a 'hunker down' option to colonists behind walls and sandbags would be really useful. Trenches, giving snipers the ability to lay down to improve aiming but as a downside it takes longer to get up to melee or flee. And generally just take a lot of pointers from the combat realism mod.

    Something about the tutorial really gives me the idea that there are going to be quests in the near future, possibly something similar to what starbound has currently... Hopefully that'd mean being able to explore beyond your starting tile and raiding other settlements...

      My first thought on this was wondering how long it's going to take before there are the addict colony scenarios on the Workshop. I would guess that the first ones have already happened.

      Im frankly to lazy and some of the scenarios take like 15 mins to craft properly so usually ill check the workshop first and see if there are any there.

    Hi Tynan, good job on the game so far, I love it. Since you were discussing the alarm system at the end of the video, there is something that really bugs me:
    There is an alarm for manhunter animals, but none for animals attacking your colonist for food. Since I started my last game in tundra, where there is not many wild animals to beginn with, I lost a couple of colonists to randomly spawning bears or lynx and learned of the attack, when the colonists were already dead. Even midfight would have been too late, since you can't outrun those animals and they won't stop attacking until they ripped the heads and other limbs off.
    I would REALLY appreciate a fix for that :)

    will cloning other colonists(through a pod or flesh vat or something) be a feature added soon?else i'll try modding it in.Its also a neat idea if individual body parts should still be able to be chopped off even when corpse is dead and should be cookable.

    I do like the deep drilling infact it is something I have always thought about since the early early alphas. However unless i'm missing something it is still entirely possible to deplete the entire map of resources. I would like to see maybe a way to upgrade the drill to "go deeper" so you can never run out of materials. Maybe every time you upgrade it you make it so it takes longer to mine. You could also raise the cost of upgrading it every time or something to balance it out a bit. Obviously you would have to have an upgrade limit to add a sense of realism. Or you could say "screw the upgrade system" and make AI piloted drones that fly to other planets and bring back materials. This would give you an unlimited supply of materials if you wish to make a permanent settlement on your planet instead of escaping. Obviously you would have to make the drones costly and have them take a decent amount of time to return but it would make it so you never run out of recourses.

      Well its nearly an infinite supply of resources. 500per tile is quite alot of resources since there is loads of tiles.

      mgntstr Well youre never gonna use that much metal... in a whole playthrough you can usually complete the game with no trading for metal or drilling. You would never run out of metal unless you just wasted all your metal repeatedly.

    I love this game so much. The only big thing that seems missing is the need for water. Playing a colony survival sim, you would think water would be the most important thing. I Could think of a pipe system, similar to power cables, for fresh water (to drink & hygiene). And a sewage pipes leading out of your base which could be used by attackers to enter.

    Please add a limiter to stockpiles: fill up stockpile with x until you have 50 of x for example, and bigger stack size for items.
    An ability to draw a NO GO zone!
    And maybe some kind of indicator for forbidden items on the map, when they run of dazed they start striping and loose items(charge rifles)
    Also maybe adding seeds for plants, putting a limit on how much u can plant at the start. Also plants like corn are grown different if you want to get seeding or edible corn.
    Also some kind of plant pestilence and general tending to plants, removing weeds and plant lice. Making growing more of a full time job.
    And maybe some inoculation effects for measles and plagues.
    Orchards
    Water wells and outhouse, hydration as need. (for people/animals/plants)
    Wheat > Mill > Flour+water=paste > Bread+meat= burger(counts as fine meal)
    Beehives(need flowers nearby) and honey, tree fruits > Flour+water=paste+honey/fruit= sweet cake (low nutrition +5 mood)
    and a way to reprogram and fix (research lv 12+,+some exotic gadget and plasteel+component) downed mechanoid to make it obedient defender.
    These are some of the stuff i`d like to see in the future, big fan keep up the good work. : )

    At one point one of the pawns was carrying what i guess was a pill or something but it looked like a fish for amin and that made me want fishing in the game LOL. But ya for the update and more fun stuffs to do (and lets face it watch Blitz, Elysium and Aavak do lol)

    If you burn drugs inside could it fill the air in a similar way to how temprature works? So before a raid you could throw a bunch of smokeleaf into a fire at the entrance to your colony and all the raiders would rush in and get high while trying to break down your doors. Then you have a combat advantage.

    Can you make it so that the starting forbidden items always have the 'unforbid this' above them? I always end up finding like 200 steel I needed long ago sitting around forbidden.

      Children would be pretty useless considering the average colony is around for 2-4 years

      I disagree, you can alway sell them, harvest their organs, or if need be eat them, so children can be quite useful. >)
      On more serious note even 4 year old can do some maul work such as transport items like pets do, or help harvesting corps. Also they create relations with other characters and require food and care, and all those interaction and needs can provide additional content and difficulty to the game.

      Imagine being able to have a colonist from birth to death, find him a wife and raise his kids. Traits of the childrens would be a combination from both his parents... It would take alot of realtime but if the game keep getting content I would definitly go for that.

    I am so suprised this is the version I first played, according to steam I first bought the game in July 2016 which is apparently when this update came out, but so many of the textures look completely foreign to me lol. The only memory I have of my earliest playthrough was i had a pawn with the trans glitterworld backstory and was excellent at medical and art i think? anyways that colony died to infections after opening a ancient danger lol. really awesome seeing how the game has changed over the years and would love to see a vanilla update, i really like the dlcs but so much potential for the base game still. ( i own royalty, ideology and biotech)

    When was the roof length expansion added? Before, the largest roofed room you could build was a 10x10 and now it's 12x12.

    Will you make new traits like vegetarian or clean freak? Also program a radio system that let colonist equip walkie-talkie to help improve their social relationship? May be it can replace "relaxing socially" by "using walkie-talkie"?

    Hey Tynan huge fan I've been following the game since alpha 3. This is probably my favorite game of all time but I'm wondering is there going to be functionality for the places on the world map you don't land? It would be cool to be able to raid enemy bases or expand your colony. Let me know and keep doing a great job with this game!!!!

      I think this feature will come eventually it'll just be hard to design in such a way that works well for the game without effecting performance. Because expanding the map size will effect the performance.
      I'm thinking maybe like allowing a group of colonist to travel and prepare them with some meals or pemmican on whatever to a new area on the world to hunt or mine or whatever and maybe adding an icon for travelling groups and the main colony to switch between but the idea is far from perfect and hard to implement without effecting performance too much.
      A nice idea though would be to equip animals like elephants and dromedaries with cargo packs that can be filled with items and have them travel with travelling groups to act as a temporary stockpile or to move large amounts of items around. (And maybe ride? Just putting that out there) i feel like this feature is kind of required for travelling and raiding since otherwise we'd only be able to acquire and haul home 75 items each.

      I was thinking a bit like XCom. It would be cool if colonists could go on expeditions to other map tiles in the XCom kind of manner. So if you want to move 10 colonists 10 tiles they would need transport food and weapons to defend themselves. This would be a fairly late game mechanic as you would need colonists at the base but it could be a vital part of the story. maybe a pirate camp has tons of fuel or maybe your ship crashed nearby and you could go there to rescue survivors in cryptosleep or recover equipment and its engine. It could nearly double the content of the game.

      +Urban_Spectre I agree that performance would take a huge hit. But imagine a win scenario where your colony gets so powerful and wipes out raiders that have more than 1 base each it would be very cool to see that. For the memory problem I have an idea, each colony of yours would be its own file that share certain aspects i.e the map. I don't know if this will work completely do to the moving of colonists and resources but I think that is the best strategy for the memory issue

    how about the ability to medicaly induce coma,its a cheaper version of cryptosleep while still needing to be fed etc.the advantage is it allows you to make addicted colonists be unable to brake during a lack of drugs or maybe to stop mental breaks.

    Keep up the good work... One thing to maybe consider is adding stuff to the Joy factor. I am thinking Music could be added. You could learn to play and also learn to build instruments. It could be done for personal joy as well as be done (performed) FOR others... such as a prisoners and patients. Simple Guitars, drums, and flutes?
